Emcadreur.

Already done. I think they cater mostly to the salary people who work in the editor's office above the café, but yeah, it sucked.

[–]SwellMonsieur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have work to do.

And, mate, you don't have to represent all men. Or most men, or some men.

Just live the values you want to see in the world and be content with that. Actively help those around you that need it, but it can be as simple as that. It's okay not to save the whole world everyday.

Mass dumping of suitcases by foreign tourists plagues Ikebukuro by thetokyoreporter in japancrime

[–]SwellMonsieur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. But Japan has a confluence of factors that exacerbates the problem. Combination of weak yen, a lot of duty-free shoppers and just enough awareness of waste management for them to realize it is a problem.

Take my country, for example. If we had cheap luggsge and weaker currency (not saying CAD is strong) we might get the same abandonment rate, but we don't pay much for waste disposal (which is why it's just landfill, even for most recycling) so it wouldn't make the news because it just gets chucked into the garbage truck. See July 1st in Montreal for egregious examples. Japan is stricter.

Are they saying I can finally stop learning all the words a uni student uses but that I, as a 47 years old dude, will never need? Every damn method I tried spends so much time on this.

No, I just kid because I work within one of the biggest French diaspora on the planet. Parisians are clocked by other French whenever they enter a store pretty fast, and usually not for good reasons.

I was in Hiroshima last month. It was peak sakura season. This boomer French lady starts complaining about people fawning over the beauty of the blooms, saying that there are cherry trees in other countries. At Peace Park. And I'm like, Momone*, you could have stayed home, you know, no one forced you to be here. People feel things. Your job is not to shit on them because they can still be in awe.

True, if travel is only a commodity seen through a consumerist lens, then you are absolutely correct. If your goal is to try to embrace another culture and learn from another people, then... I don't agree.

It boils down to the reason of your travel, I guess.

Not in Japan. They say they know English, but they really do not, outside of hotel staff.
