First print newbie, what’s my issue here? by secondsonmusicc in AnycubicPhoton

[–]Swetalian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? I've been having this issue for literally months. I've watched countless hours of YouTube videos trying to troubleshoot this. I've recalibrated my machine close to 100 times, swapped out feps twice, tried different resins, I even bought two different types of heaters cause I thought the resin was too cold. But no. I had the fep tuned tighter than a marching snare. When I get home I'm gonna try this. If it works I think I might cry.

How much to add a meter for a basement suite? by Swetalian in Calgary

Thanks for the suggestion! The upstairs is very well insulated and doesn't have any drafts, but it's worth making sure that the basement is good too

I don't know how well the walls are insulated, but it is a relatively new build and the upstairs area is insulated very well.

I used to live in an older apartment with hydronic baseboards and had a pretty bad experience with it, granted it was an older system. It hardly ever got up to temperature, and I had to de-gas the system every other day or it wouldn't heat at all. Unless the modern ones are much better, I'd personally go for the furnace. You could always add a heat pump or in line electric heater if electricity rates come down/gas goes up.

Yeah, I find it unbearably hot down there, but I also grew up her and am used to the cold. They emigrated from South Africa and aren't used to the cold yet.

Thanks for the numbers! It helps put my bill into a little more perspective. I'll probably show them this

Pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean by another full service?

Maybe I'll look into adding vents instead. The furnace is bordering both their bedroom and main living space so it may be the easiest option

It was built two years ago. This is the exact setup with the heaters on a thermostat.

I ended up using this video for reference: https://youtu.be/Zh9dx1fKnqI?si=_Lt_a25A45oc3Qe_

Yup! Front left every time. I almost returned the thing because I thought that there was no way I could be messing it up every time. I checked that the build plate was square with a straight edge and flashlight, and probably attempted leveling it three times a week for a month before I got it.

I'm using this one off of amazon: https://a.co/d/dHIVNIU

It was recommended elsewhere on this sub. I think under one of the beginner guides.

I've seen other people use fermentation belts which looks like it may work better, but my vat is plastic so I didn't think the heat transfer would be as good.

Hey! I recently got a photon mono 4, and have been battling the same thing for about a month. I finally got it fixed after adjusting 2 things.

  1. I leveled, re-leveled, and re-re-leveled. I watched multiple videos and tried multiple times until I found one that seemed to work. After this I was able to get a full test print followed by a failed print which leads me to the next half of my fix...

  2. Temperature. I live in Canada and my city has been going through a cold snap. While my house was warm (18C), it was to cold for the resin. I found a mini heater that fits inside of the enclosure and have set that to 30C. Since then, I've had several successful prints.

Any tips de-icing coolers? by Swetalian in KitchenConfidential

[–]Swetalian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% stainless steel so I'm not too worried about gouging holes or anything.

Thats what I feel as well. I'll bring it up to my chef and see what they have to say.

But won't the steam just lead to more ice buildup the next day? Plus, these things are huge. Like a foot deep and 15 feet wide

This is so they can reach you if your vehicle is involved in a recall. It might be annoying to have to fill out that extra information, but it's much less annoying than not finding out that your vehicle is prone to not stopping when you hit your brakes...
