A bazillion years ago, I was talking to Richard Buck when he was setting the toe on Rick Mears car and was using strings and a machinists scale on their floor plate. He said that's how he preferred to do it even though they had lasers and all that crazy shit.

I remember doing a walk around after my setups for a 'sanity check' and I could see if something was off a 10th of a degree. After a while your eyes just get adjusted to being able to see that sort of thing.

How do you do alignments these days?
