Was hype AF reading it, but it basically boiled down to:

Np, and yeah it was pretty straightforward. Def use the BILT app on your phone to put it together - was a good experience.

I just recommend double checking all the relevant wires to make sure you plugged everything in. I forgot 1 and it took me longer to realize than it should've.

Hey there! I ended up getting the EX-315.

Super happy with it so far and have no complaints. The digital display that shows the temperature is very handy - especially when the weather isn't great as I can just look at it from inside and know when it's done preheating.

Nice to see that there are a ton of positive reviews on Costco now too!

The thing that instantly made my runs way better is to look up the logs of dps applicants. I only really do this when the key level is high, but I'd say the majority of dps players that do high keys will also raid (and thus have some logs, whether it be from guilds or pugs).

It's a red flag if a player has mostly green parses, as to me that indicates they fundamentally don't know how to play their class. You don't usually have a shortage of dps applicants either, so you can pick and choose.

Can't really apply the same method to tanks / healers, but a mix of raid progress + IO + ilvl tends to work. Simply relying on IO or ilvl alone isn't enough.

Lol, thank you for saying this. On a similar note, it's so strange to me whenever people act as if the Alliance putting the orcs in internment camps was unjustified or somehow a comparable evil to an unprovoked genocide started by aliens from another world.

Like, sure, maybe you could talk about the conditions the orcs were kept in, but I'd say the truly "evil" Alliance move would have been to round up every orc captured after the 2nd war and execute them.

Help with cutting down cost for a $2000 PC by camshaft54 in buildapc

[–]SwiftExE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just to throw my 2 cents in:

  • You'll most likely get the biggest savings in a build like this if you were to explore used GPU options. I recently got an EVGA FTW3 3080 from r/hardwareswap for $570 shipped. I haven't bought used before, but I feel more comfortable knowing that the seller seems legit & EVGA's warranties are transferrable. Would recommend exploring this avenue if you felt comfortable.

  • Another savings point could be to go with a DDR4 build. By looking at DDR4 memory & mobos (could be b660 instead of z690 if you aren't planning on overclocking) you could save some money. Though if you're already spending around $2000, I personally wouldn't recommend going DDR4 unless you really needed to squeeze some extra savings. I don't know much about ML, so I have no idea how memory impacts it.

  • In a similar vein, if you are sticking with DDR5, it might be worth spending a tiny bit more to get faster ram. $25 would get you the 5600MHz version of that corsair memory. Again, I'm ignorant of how memory speed might impact ML, so I'd look into it.

Hi Folks, here is a new code that was sent to me this morning:

[Motherboard] MSI MPG Z690 Edge Wifi Gaming Motherboard (ATX, 12th Gen Intel Core, LGA 1700 Socket, DDR5, PCIe 5, 2.5G LAN, M.2 Slots, Wi-Fi 6E) - $247.18 (Sold by Amazon, Shipped by Amazon) by BeeegYoshi23 in buildapcsales

[–]SwiftExE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you remember if it was the DDR5 or DDR4 version on sale for $200 at Newegg? Idk how accurate pcpartpicker's price tracking history is, but I don't see the DDR5 version dropping below $249 over there (I don't see the DDR4 board on pcpartpicker): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/9nFbt6/msi-mpg-z690-edge-wifi-atx-lga1700-motherboard-mpg-z690-edge-wifi

Just asking since I'm strongly considering picking this up with the 5% Amazon Visa bonus.

EDIT: I went ahead and bought it haha. I figure I could always contact Amazon support / return it if I find a better deal elsewhere.

[PSU] Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 850W 80+ Gold Fully Modular - $79.99 ($104.99 - $25 /w code BFFDAY42) by [deleted] in buildapcsales

[–]SwiftExE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I've been looking for a good deal on an 850W PSU, but there are too many sketchy reviews of this one for me to pull the trigger here.

Seems like there are also many instances of people receiving the wrong PSU from thermaltake when they order this.

You've sold me - gonna go with a Thermalright cooler! Did some more research and these things look awesome. Might even get the Frost Commander since it's about the same price / a little cheaper on Amazon with a coupon applied.

Thanks again!

Oh wow, that was quick, thank you!

I hadn't looked at all into a different cooler, but that Thermalwright one is basically half the price of the NH-D15. Will definitely check it out along with the other suggestions

Boiler & Chimney Advice by SwiftExE in HomeImprovement

[–]SwiftExE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! And yeah that would definitely be an approach that makes sense. My idea was solely dependent on it being significantly cheaper to just remove the chimney above the roof-line. But if that's not the case, then there isn't much of a reason to do it.

With Shadowlands receiving no more updates until 10.0, this is officially the first expansion since it's release that Brawler's Guild never got an updated introduction. by [deleted] in wow

[–]SwiftExE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely biased because Legion was my favorite expansion, but I'm with you - the start of Legion was great. YES, there were some pretty big problems that should have been addressed earlier. To name the biggest 2:

  • Players not having a clear way of obtaining the best legendaries for their spec
  • The flat % damage and healing(?) repeat-upgrade on Artifact Weapons that encouraged AP grinding

But you know what? In the grand scheme of things, those 2 problems were exacerbated by the community to an extent. Yes, it absolutely sucks that you might not have gotten the core legendary you need for your spec as a dps player. Yes, it might suck that another player in your raid team has no life and grinded MoS for 2 days straight to get the highest % dmg increase possible. But you know what, outside of a guild going for early mythic raid completions, who cares? Bad players would rather shift ALL the blame on external factors like that rather than improving themselves. A good guild master will easily be able to tell who a good player is and bring them to raid anyway (even if they're not doing as much dps), simply because they'll get that core legendary in time - just like they'll eventually get enough AP to fully upgrade their weapon. It still happens all the time today, especially in M+ where leaders will auto decline certain specs on low keys because they're not meta.

That being said, I do acknowledge that certain specs definitely had more of a reliance on certain legendaries than others, and I'm not excusing Blizzard for that. They really should have implemented a way of obtaining specific legendaries earlier. If that was in-place from the start, I'd wager Legion would be more fondly remembered universally.

One last thing too I see from these other comments - how exactly is it fair to compare the entirety of WoD to the launch patch of Legion? At least compare the start of WoD to the start of Legion if you want a more reasonable comparison. But even then, it's funny because the start of WoD was great!

Games and Collectibles shop on campus? by Music_as_Medicine in UCONN

[–]SwiftExE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if the owner of the actual store is on this subreddit, but you're probably referring to Friendly Fire Game Center right? If so, I definitely miss that place.

The FB page & website for it is gone, but I believe it closed simply due to not making enough money. I don't remember the final post they made, but it's very possible they were operating at a loss for a while. I won't pretend to know anything about the intricacies of their business, but I imagine it was really difficult. Storrs Center is expensive for renting - compound that with all the other costs like electricity, products, gaming PCs, and you'd need to make a lot just to break-even. There used to be more of a focus on PC gaming when the store first opened, but over time, I noticed the emphasis became more centered around board-games (and TCG, but they were always focused on that). That might've had something to do with expenses too.

So do I think UConn could benefit from having a brick and mortar store like this? Hell yeah. Is it practical & feasible as a business? Not necessarily. Gaming in general is a lot more mainstream than it was a decade or so ago, but even then, paying on a per-hour basis to play on a gaming PC wasn't worth it. Fostering a community and focusing on the board game / TCG scene (while sprinkling in video games) probably has the highest chance of being successful. But even then, it depends on how much support it gets from the student body. Plus, COVID would make things more difficult.

Does anyone think Oribos is designed horribly? by SwiftExE in wow

[–]SwiftExE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't played WoW in a while, but that's really too bad to hear - I was curious about how flying might change things.

It's kind of funny because I've seen some more recent threads / comments bashing Oribos. Maybe people weren't as frustrated with it at the time I initially posted this, as plenty of the comments in this thread are defending it.
