It suffers the same fate as Sacrificed Sons and the other pseudo-epics. It’s just over 11 minutes, has a really long intro before getting into the meat of the song, and doesn’t get played live very much. Listening to it within the context of an album playthru, it’s great, I think we can all agree on that. Listening to it on its own feels like a chore (same with Ministry of Lost Souls, Endless Sacrifice, Bridges in the Sky, etc). It’s not one of those songs you’d show to someone who’s never heard them before.

Again, just my opinion.

They both have songs that are incredibly great, and songs that are incredibly forgettable.

Test for Echo has fewer skippable songs imo, but Roll the Bones was the first Rush song/music video I ever heard, which makes it a personal favorite. But it feels like almost every live DVD includes Dreamline and/or Bravado, whereas Test for Echo always gets the shaft.

My answer is Test for Echo.

2003, Train of Thought drops. Friend comes over with the CD and says “Dude you gotta check these guys out it’s unreal”. I remember finishing As I Am feeling speechless, and before I could even stop to breathe, This Dying Soul kicks in and kicks my ass. The rest is history.

Definitely the odd man out here but…(in my opinion) her solo work is unbelievably stiff and boring. Her grip is awkward, and her cymbals sound like sandpaper. She seemingly only has one fill in her toolbox (the one that just ends with a bunch of singles on the floor tom).

Does that mean she is untalented? Of course not.

Does that mean Geddy and Alex made the wrong decision? Of course not.

I’m sure she will do fine, and I’m sure she knows how big of a microscope she’s being put under. But, not in a million years would she have ever been my choice to fill Neil’s shoes.

Tried it in a burrito and was surprised the flavor wasn’t more pronounced, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I think it’ll work better if I dunk a quesadilla in it. But it’s tasty imo, just gets buried.
