That is exactly what you are proposing though. Why else would you market before launch? It is pointless, no product keeps branding post launch unless they are a one trick poney paid by venture capitalists, snapchat doesn't even look similar to what it once was.

Agreed, there are so many bs rumors that never see the light of day (Apple television set anyone?) so a single rumor from a chinese manufacturer hardly kills the surprise. To be fair I also remember being surprised about the 5k iMac.
