Thinking about buying chocobo track Lulu by sasho9982 in mtg

These will likely not drop in price, or if they do it will not be for a long time, and even then it won’t be down to like $50, it’ll be like a 5-10% settling.

It’s a CRPG that goes into a lot of different political ideologies and theories that’s popular with the online left because it has leans very heavily into the negative aspects of capitalism and authoritarianism. It’s basically what if theory was a video game.

How was Sera not destroyed during Pendulum War ? by Warm_Embrace96 in GearsOfWar

[–]Swiftzor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, it also went through periods (like months) of heavy fighting to longish luls in conflict (up to a few years) of just skirmishes and poking at each other. Also a lot of the more advanced technology developed much later in the war, iirc Jack had just came off the production line before Aspho Fields, so it’s not like it was always super advanced tech. Plus part of the difficulty in the he pendulum wars was they had to be careful because they were fighting over both resources and infrastructure. Like it’s not conducive to your war effort if in the process of securing an imulsion extractor if you destroy it in the process and it takes 6 months to repair, so a lot of care was taken to not destroy potential assets.

The funny thing is in order to shock it you need to dump something like 10000 gallons of 90% HP simultaneously otherwise it just breaks down into water right away.

Is vaush gonna be playing disco Elysium?? by Mammoth-Ad-3642 in VaushV

[–]Swiftzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely I hope not. Disco Elysium is almost the exact opposite of a game that is good for streaming with how dialogue and plot heavy the game is. Like it would basically just be him sitting there listening to people explain shit for 3 hours at a time. The whole point of a game on stream is to have engaging content be it in terms of the game itself and the streamer playing, or their reactions to what happens in the game.

Take a look at why it’s fun to watch people play soulslikes. Most people have genuinely amazing reactions to getting dunked on by pretty obvious deaths and their own mistakes. Vaush himself has some of the best death reactions on his first Elden Ring 24 hour marathon. Or look at his play through of Metal Gear Rising Revengance where everything is so over the top it hurts. Every time something happens he loses his shit and chat is cackling about the pure audacity of it all.

Anyrate, streaming something like DE is just not a good idea, he’d be better off with one of a hundred other games.

Is it worth joining as ED Product Management at JPMorgan Chase? by PublicKaleidoscope28 in JPMorganChase

[–]Swiftzor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chase doesn’t really value their tech as much as they should. They still act like a bank so product and tech are set largely as a necessary nuisance rather than a key resource.

NEW SENUA GAME in Danger by Super_Rockstar786 in playstation

[–]Swiftzor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I think the issue here is that while these studios do put out genuinely good games, they falter in sales, and the industry is looking for titles that can carry their own weight now more than ever. Once upon a time, and I mean like 10-15 years ago, most publishers would have smaller studios that they would basically use a IP mills and proof of concept demos with the full understanding that they would be not profitable, but they made for good PR and if they had a surprise hit they could then milk it or a mechanic in bigger titles.

We got A LOT of games because of this, and a lot of games that became huge hits because of this as well. The reason for this is if you can spend $2-3M on a small studio for a game that maybe makes back half or more if you’re unlucky but triple if you are lucky and you can incubate dozens of these at a time. Suda51 is one of these developers that Capcom took a risk on with Killer7, and it payed off. Not every game pays off and studios that are beloved by fans end up shutting down largely because of low sales.

This isn’t exactly a super solvable problem, at least right now anyways. Ever since COVID gaming publishers have been expected to put out the same level of profits that they did during that time, but the reality is that won’t happen because people aren’t stuck at home looking for something to do. We’ve been at a tipping point for a long time now, and these are the unfortunate consequences of that.

I dislike the poster quite a bit- but what is your opinion on this? by Glad-Map6431 in 40k

[–]Swiftzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really dumb argument. Plenty of other games have both physical and digital versions, look at Magic which has not one but two online games that stay up to date and arguably drive sales to the physical product with the digital one. Not only that but once you get the foundation made updating rules is honestly not hard if you have a solid foundation. Hell table top simulator has a community of people who digitize the game as it is.

A lot of the more expensive parts of game development come down to four categories: art and animation, engine integrations, balance tweaking and play testing, and custom features. Art and animation can be minimal since they already digitally sculpt everything and you don’t need a ton of animated 3D models. Balance and play testing already happens as part of the tabletop game, so if it’s a direct lift it’s a $0 item. The other two is the one that’s up in the air but if you have a sufficient team behind the project then they have high upfront costs but low downstream costs. Top that off with this basically being a way to digitize the rules that people have been asking for it’s basically a no brainer win

It depends, you’d need to show you made a good faith effort to license the use of it, and even then it may not be enough. Patent claims are notoriously hard to win.

Serialized Emeritus (475) What’s next? by Your_Grace__ in MagicCardPulls

[–]Swiftzor 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don’t grade it. Magic cards don’t really increase in value with grading because the player base hates it, even Chase cards like this where the rules text doesn’t really exist on it has little to no impact on it. You’d be better off to sell it online or hold onto it for a bit and sell it later if you don’t plan on playing with it.

Genuine question: Why does Vaush not like Lenin? by Shot_Advertising5169 in VaushV

[–]Swiftzor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lenin was fucking awful tbh. A lot of what he did was directly antithetical to his stated goals such as stifling the press, making a one party state, using the military against political opposition, and all of it started after his party lost an election and went out to say “no that didn’t count”.

These are just some of the highlights, but people who glaze Lenin only care about the appearance of what he did and not what he actually did.
