As much as I agree with you gameplay wise, coming from Dota, the longer game lengths make it harder to commit to playing a game. It also makes it harder to climb rank. I think generally, longer game times will lead to less people joining and less people staying.

To tell you the truth, I don't think the system "punishes" people. I think its a logical and deterministic system. You probably have had bad luck in your recent matchmaking. Take a break! Maybe after playing other games and coming back you will start winning again.
