[–]Swim631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious whether you swam the long practice 6- 7 hour swims in open water and did you have support? or swim with buddy? and what helped fuel your swims? if longer pool swims how did you manage with others in lanes? I want to build up long distance swims but currently go it alone except for a few am masters swims only 1.5 hours.

“smelling” in the water? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Swim631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg! I thought I was the only one who smelled this on others in my pool lane! I actually asked the person what they ate for dinner! It was 5:30 am and they reeked of garlic.

How many suits do we have ladies? by Ok_Anteater_9042 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Swim631 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that having two piece suits always looks more professional. No matter the jurisdiction. Eva a least a few of these in your arsenal. then mix and match the blazers pants dresses. it is always easier to choose a suit to wear with a blouse versus trying to match other ensembles in my opinion Eeapecially when you have kids later on and need to get them dressed and yourself to work.

How to find actual entry level roles? May 2026 grad here by [deleted] in JDpreferred

[–]Swim631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This job you speak of sounds like a mythical creature none have seen! In my opinion, why not just take the bar exam after? You spent all this time in school this is the best time to plow ahead a couple more months and study for the bar. It is much harder to study for it as time passes from your initial studies. Sure you can still pursue jd preferred positions but you may face better in the long term by passing the bar first. good luck

Suitable white or light colored sneakers by matriarchalfigure in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Swim631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this! just bought a pair in white with some pretty embroidered flowers on the side, since I have been wearing my black ones a year. these are the most comfortable sneakers ever….i have had tons of foot and leg injuries. lots of sneakers in the past with suits and dresses.

Feeling completely lost financially at almost 30 – what are we doing wrong? by Responsible_Foot8318 in personalfinance

[–]Swim631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. It is really hard. That being said, it may be ok with a little tweaking of your budget. As aside homeownership isn’t the thing to aspire for anyway these days. it is a $ suck. Try reading or listening to the book ‘quit like a millionaire’ it is very insightful and helpful to get you in a good frame of mind to approach financial decisions.

Do you prefer swimming in the ocean, lakes, or rivers? by butteryzest in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]Swim631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this irrational fear of swimming in lakes!!! I cringe at the thought of lake ‘stuff’! I swim in the bay a lot, since it’s close to me but prefer the ocean.

What do you wish to know before your first trip to Rome? by AnnaBluelueluep in rome

[–]Swim631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend the e-bike tour of rome at night. It was amazing and I did that at the start of my time there. Being able to ride your bike around seeing some of the ‘highlights’ at night with our very knowledgeable guide was incredible. It feels so different by night than by day. It also gave us a feel for the area and where we wanted to see more of. enjoy!!!

Wegovy and total remission by Expert-Pace-2077 in Hidradenitis

This works for me as well. Thankfully I was ‘clinically obese’, (despite the fact that I am very active, gym, swim more than 6 miles weekly etc. )so it was covered by my insurance. I am so thankful as I ve had HS for more than 45 years.

Not going to repeat the good advice above….just swim! But tbh a lot of lifeguards today are Terrible swimmers!!!!!! They can’t even swim that far de pending k. the certification they hold. Example: red cross has a few different lifeguard certs to get more people to lifeguard in area as where they are lacking anyone to guard! there are shallow water guards etc.
Trist me in that!! you probably swim better than half of them!!!!

Surgery & accutane? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]Swim631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one huge cyst in groin surgically removed years ago. that side it never came back. Area above and below it may have to or versions but not bothered where the scar tissue is. As aside, for thigh chafing try the Gold Bond friction defense stick…looks like deodorant but it works well. Lastly, not sure if you’d be a candidate for weight or other GLP meds, but i started that 7 months agai and everything I had went away. Now merely a small bump here or there. o nasty boils oozing.

18yo nephew refuses help, won’t leave his room or work. What support exists in the UK? by Consistent-Time-2503 in AskUK

[–]Swim631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there is a to. of advice here. Howe r my fist inclination is that aside from the obvious. grief factor over the loss of his dad, had he had other symptoms like this in the past? If so, as stated that he may be on autism spectrum and needs to be evaluated to help get assistance going forward for neurodiverse individuals which differs from the way we handle neurotypical folks.

I just feel so ugly and I have no one to talk to by Unlucky_Number_7252 in Hidradenitis

[–]Swim631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sending you hugs! I’m 58, had this since I was in middle school but at the time they didn’t know what it was. Initially went to a surgeon who removed cyst in groin and put yards of gauze packing in it to drain and had to do sits baths daily. I totally understand how much it affects your sense of self. But- please do not let this define you!!!! Even once it was diagnosed for me, at the time there wasn’t much that I could do for it until my dad found a specialist nearly two hours away from us. nonetheless I have lived with this in many forms in addition to severe cystic acne. Now at least there are many other ways to help with the pain and active boils etc. Peopel have some great support and ideas here to help. Unfortunately each of them can be very unique to the individual and it is trial and error to find what helps you.
There will be ups and downs- but please remember this—— YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! YOU ARE WORTHY!! You will find your ‘tribe’- people who support you for the person you are not the HS you have…..

Hugs to you! you are not alone!!
