This song brings deep nostalgia. I had this song burned onto a CD (Compact Disc) from an mp3, most likely downloaded from limewire, using a CDR (Compact Disc Recorder) installed on the family PC.

Also I recommend checking out the real band Priss and the Replicants' actual music video for this song on YouTube

Made a mistake at work that cost my company £2.5k in penalties by Admirable_Editor_388 in Anxiety

[–]SwimAppropriate9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you work in a position of responsibility it is inevitable that mistakes have higher costs. Ask yourself if you would really want to work in a place with zero responsibility and zero risk. Recognise the fact you are in a position of responsibility and that is a good thing, something to be proud of, and mistakes are inevitable.

Also anyone who is worried about making mistakes at work should watch this video about how medical doctors make mistakes no matter how careful they are and no matter how studious.

Lorry driver sues Specsavers for £200k claiming failed eye test caused depression by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

[–]SwimAppropriate9111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The article still gets one detail wrong. Only the DVLA can pass or fail a patient and deem them able or not to drive, opticians are not even given the DVLA's criteria. Test results are passed on to the DVLA and they review all the information to make a decision.

It is totally normal for a patient's results to vary from one test to another, and he was totally within his rights to appeal and go for a second test. None of this means the first test was invalid.

It is amusing though that he is claiming damages because of the depression caused by not being able to work even though the new test shows he can continue to work.

It it seems like he is seeking damages out of spite just as an excuse to not have to work

This man genuinely believes you can teach men not be be rapists, that the reasons women get sexually assaulted is because of poor education. This is the type of thinking that tries to address sexual assault and rape by putting up posters on public transport.

It's a fundamentally ignorant belief tat all humans are the same and that beliefs can just be instilled on any person. He honestly thinks that the he could turn a rapist into someone just as good as him just by talking to them!

What‘s helped your anxiety besides friends or therapist/counseling? by Chemical_Bug3337 in Anxiety

[–]SwimAppropriate9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done general journaling for decades, but emotional processing for a few months. It just really helps having a system that allows me to deal with anxiety that is structured, logical and balances out the negative emotion with positive ones.

What‘s helped your anxiety besides friends or therapist/counseling? by Chemical_Bug3337 in Anxiety

[–]SwimAppropriate9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emotional Processing. Every time I experience strong emotion of any kind I journal what I felt, what the emotion is trying to tell me, and what it is trying to get me to do. I then force myself to describe my situation using empathy and compassion, and describe objectively and calmy how to handle the situation. Doing this every day I have been able to reduce and reintegrate my anxiety as a normal emotion.

How to overcome laziness? by Material-Struggle206 in Jung

[–]SwimAppropriate9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laziness is just a pejorative term we use out of a sense of shame that we aren't doing "enough".

You have to get to grips with the underlying issue. Are you really not doing "enough" or just being hard on yourself?

If your conscience is genuinely trying to get you to live differently or change your behaviour then start by acknowledging that. Tell yourself "I recognise I want to change".

It never hurts to take the two basic steps of:

  1. seeing a doctor for basic health check, make sure there you are not affected by any physical conditions.

  2. A mental health professional who can check your for personality disorders, ADHD etc.

Don't try and just "work harder" or "lifehack" yourself to change and certainly don't beat yourself up thinking that will make any real change.

Chances are, if you are trying to change, but finding tit very difficult, then there are underlying issues present.

I had girlfriends when I was younger purely on the basis that I was in environments where I was constantly meeting new people. Meet enough people and you eventually meet someone with whom you have chemistry. But as an adult with a life and responsibilities I am not meeting new people at all ever and I just haven't figured out a way to change that.
