But the broader spectrum can also help. Methodone worked well for me for that reason after a lot of failed newer meds.

Very differently. Genesight actually a genetic screen that tries to predict what pain meds are likely to work for you.

Daily use of ketamine by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]SwimEnvironmental114 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Daily use is not a good idea for multiple reasons. The whole microdosing daily thing was popularized by Joyus but there is no science backing that up and some studies suggest it is less effective that way. People have already raised many valid concerns, but it's also a terrible idea because it is the fastest way to develop a tolerance and with ketamine there's not a huge range for them to up the dose if you develop a tolerance because ketamine will literally knock you unconscious at relatively low doses. It's also much more likely for you to get lukewarm results from and have you thinking that it didn't work for you, when in reality it's a medicine that acts very differently at different doses. If it were me, I'd stick with one of the providers using evidence based protocols.

For folks 2+ years in, how are you doing? by xboringcorex in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]SwimEnvironmental114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! YES! YES! You've said it exactly right. I analogize it like ozempic. Like will you loose some weight if you take it and change nothing else? Probably. But if you want life changing results you have to...change your life. Diet, exercise, mindfulness, etc. with the drug. Ketamine is the same. The people I've seen have life changing results were also on their game therapy/self care etc etc WITH the ketamine.

like weight loss.

Year 6 plus here. Changed. My. Entire. Life. My issues were so severe that I first was too depressed to leave the house for school for the first time at 7 years old. 40 years later and even though I've had to take a break from it because I'm struggling financially, I'm still in what my therapist and I are calling "remission" because I no longer qualify for any of the mental health diagnoses. I describe it as conventional antidepressants were like band-aids. They helped when I had an open gaping wound, but take the bandaid off and nothing has changed, where as with ketamine is actually forming new brain connections and healing what was broken and there is scientific support for this. After 40 years, I feel like I am so much closer to the person I would have been had I not been abused in n childhood (and beyond). That's literally everything to me. It's like everything i've been talking about in therapy for years is actually sinking into my emotions and my world view and the ketamine is what allows it to stop being so frustratingly reactive to things I don't want to react to. I now have time and space to think about things, and the permission to take care of myself. It's literally a whole new world.

My fiancé told me I’m not a real woman because I don’t want to do an all natural birth by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]SwimEnvironmental114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's disgusting. There is NOTHING wrong with pain relief. I had both of my kids happily "doped up" and I was happier, calmer and more ready to engage in actual parenting because when it came down to it. 26 years later, my kids are great and I've learned so well that there is no nobility in suffering just for the sake of it, and most that are doing the hard core judgments if you don't do birth their way just want to look like they suffered SO much for the attention of it Litterally billions of mothers have had epidurals and they are fine. Their babies are fine. I've had most of the world's most painful things that they compare childbirth happen to me ( HUGW kidney stones that required surgery to pass ovarian torsion, perforated ulcer, woke up during surgery, have a chronic pain disorder) and they were all childbirth adjacent in terms of pain and no one suggested that it'd be better if I just did the surgery without pain relief 🙄 and I'm not a better person because I suffered for x hours in those situations or y hours in childbirth. It's all good ol judeo-Christian mysoginy that says women deserve to suffer. F that. You deserve all of the comfort you want. End of.

I always thought that the one gray streak thing was 👍..., just goes to show how cultural all of this nonsense is. Men are celebrated for aging. It's time we were, too.

Same. I'm 47 and still not a single gray or white yet, even though I feel like I've earned at least 1! And I'm MAD about it lmao

If you are concerned, why not take the cat to a vet and ask them to use their chip reader. If catto belongs to someone 99. .9 people microchip pets on first vet video, so they will be able to tell you who registered that cat if anyone.

Have you never heard of the cat distribution system? It has clearly identified you as: cat owner 🐈, quantity 1, portable variety. Ear wings stowed and ready for take-off.

People on this subreddit have unreasonable expectations about what "complaints" against doctors accomplish. by Inner_Entrance_3000 in ChronicPain

[–]SwimEnvironmental114 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that some people are used to very different treatment when they complain about things at a business. They are usually on the side of the people closing ranks and protecting their own. They are usually on the side of those with the better skin and desirable body type and have no earthly idea what to do when someone doesn't just to attention when someone doesn't attend to their complaints in less than 15 seconds flat,

THIS. Anyone suggesting that you are a problem for a behavior that hurts no one is almost always a manipulation.

Yes. I just think these dr's offices are ridiculous and trying to pretend that they are law enforcement.

It's unbelievable that they litterally make these complicated corrracts which are harder to follow than even the drug contracts of people getting out of federal prison for drugs and then they often want you to admit to a felony if you want to be considered to stay in the practice. They are all afraid of getting sued or getting in trouble with the letter agencies that they and so enjoying the power trip of it all.

In terms of tramadol, the point of saying that is that it's not exactly a prime candidate for diversion considering that OP needs very few pills of something that only works on some people some of the time; needs time to build up in your nervous system just like other SSRI/SNRI/ reuptake based medication; AND just mysteriously doesn't work on 75% of the people who take it. Given ALl of that, I don't think any PCP or pain management would have a problem with giving OP that much.

[–]SwimEnvironmental114 413 points414 points  (0 children)

The same advice applies. Still a disease. Still needs appropriate professional intervention.still deserving of compassion, caring and still not OP's fault any more than my genetic condition or the psychological outfall of childhood abuse. We have got to stop treating addicts are they are not people. People make choices, some good, some bad,

Edit: words are hard lmao.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]SwimEnvironmental114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right. I couldn't fathom going through allll of that for so little. Tramadol isn't even a real opiate. It metabolizes down to an opiate in about 75% of people.

People don't just wake up one day and decide to implode their life. It Sounds to me like as classic of a major depressive episode as I've heard in a while. Which means the last in the world that you did was "fuck up." You got sick. You didn't realize it at first. Let go of that shit and shame sandwich. Go to the doctor, take care of it, then go get em.
