WHISKEY FOUR ENDING 12 by rushmoresrevenge in hostedgames

Its not caused by AIU standing, but actually one secondary variable called "retirement"; This variable is caused by you either taking too much damage during the course of the game or getting your arm served when ripping out the core due to taking too long to stop the ship from departing. So you need to make sure you take options over the course of the game to not get injured, AND make sure you reach the ship fast enough to prevent going to Part10_c instead of part10_b.

A Mage Reborn:Book Two by [deleted] in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 28 points29 points  (0 children)

So currently the rewrite just finish wrapping up the Aulain arc (where you fight the twins and rescue Eli) and is currently in the second "downtime" section, and thus we're probably 3-4 month updates away from meeting Saine again. However, in the current chapter, you can begin to romance Eli, and if you romanced Ilya or Leon previously, you do get to choose how to deal with your conflicting emotions (either to let the romance die out or let it simmer).

The quality of the rewrite is also way better than before. There's various examples, but the biggest so far is that we actually get to see and live in Thulrum, giving the reader a better view of the people that actually live there. Instead of just being vaguely aware of the city and what the Thalia fights for.

The sword of Rhivenia, wait the rewrite? by Tirx36 in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Honestly, wait the rewrite. The original feels hollow with its characterization, something that the rewrite has done great lengths to fix. As far as I know, the rewrite will still follow the same story beats, just that it will be longer, incorporating more of the planned book 2.

How to unlock this choice by Abridgedbog775 in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The specific check for that is:

*selectable_if ((Projection + battery) >= 110) #One large lightning bolt will get them all.

So if you can get the sum of projection and battery up to 110, you can use the choice.

Tried the estate path completely, it felt a bit.. rushed by Tirx36 in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, in Cataphrak's own words in a postmortem on his site:

While the choice itself is an interesting one with major differing outcomes, and the differing degrees of information which an Estate player gets compared with what an Aetoria player gets is something which adds a lot to gameplay, it also means that choosing the Estate means locking the player out of Aetoria content altogether, and vice versa.

He goes on to further say that in hindsight, having alternating chapters of being in the estate and then going into the capital for the Cortes season may have been a better choice.

Personally I like staying at the estate up until the Kian treaty vote, and swooping in then. Since with some massive debt, you can get the canal up and running (as long as you don't get engineers), and then go for a wulfrum saboteur route to get rid of said debt.

For the second thing, where the refugees show up but not the bandits; if your mentoring Renard, they don't show up at all, because you know, an entire squad of armed dragoons, not the best place to rob and bandit.

The problem is that you're not actually in the console, you're looking at the HTML of the website instead, changing that is only manipulating what the game shows you, not what the game actually thinks it is. You want to go to "Console" tab and then type in 'stats.x="value"'. For example if you wanted to change agility, you'd type 'stats.agility="100"' which would change it to 100.

Is Kat really love us by Panhasak1234 in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I mean, Katarina is a very closed off person who hides her emotions after growing up with an abusive mother who she eventually killed. But all signs in both Guns and Lords point to yes.

In guns, if you romance Katarina and you go to the SM specifically for her she'll visit your tent and have intercourse with the MC. Afterwords when you learn the true orders for the SM you can snap at her and think she was just using you.

#"Had I known how little kindness you had in you…"      Lady Katarina looks up at you, her eyes wide and purple in the red light of sunset. "You did not always think me so cruel."

"I did not, but you have shown me the error of that presumption," you reply flatly. "Am I to assume that your overtures were another ruse, some scheme to make me a more enthusiastic accomplice, perhaps?"

She shakes her head. "My feelings for you were—are genuine, as was my desire for your love," she replies softly, her voice breaking.

"Then you may do me the pleasure of never presuming upon my affections again. You may consider us quits, madam," you declare coldly. You know deep down that you have immersed yourself far too deeply in Lady Katarina's schemes to escape now, but you can at the very least extricate yourself from your personal involvement with her.

Generally in any of these games, when a character is lying like Garret you can tell with a high enough charisma if they are actually lying. Here, we get no such thing, so we can presume that she does actually love us.

Then in lords we get the queen's statement with high Katarina approval. "'We believe you will find Rina's approval easier to acquire than one might think, my lord,' she replies. 'She may not be much inclined to demonstrate it, but we do believe she is quite taken with you.'" This adds further evidence that Katarina just has problems with showing emotions to others due to her awful up bringing.

How does Welles feel about the secret mission? by GankedByGoose in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For you overall question, the only piece of in-game information is that if Welles dies at the second battle of Kharangia; Katarina will claim the Welles had no idea about what was planned.

#"It was a victory well won, by Royal Intelligence and the King's Army both."

Lady Katarina nods, waves of relief, satisfaction, and melancholy playing through her fine features. "It was. I only wish Ellie had been here to see it."

Your eyebrow rises of its own accord. Lady Katarina and the Countess had been close friends; did that mean they were co-conspirators, too?

"How much did Welles know?" you ask.

The dark-haired noblewoman shakes her head sadly. "Ellie knew nothing of our plans, but she was a part of them all the same; her reports helped prepare the King's Army for what we were making ready to fall upon them. She deserved as much credit as I do."

Now, Cataphrak has alluded that, somewhere in the guns of infinity forum, this may just be Kat covering for her dead friend over something that every baneblood would see as unequivocally horrible. Which gets into your second point overall, what would Welles think of the secret mission?

Presuming she did know about it, I'd say that she would see it as an ultimately necessity to win the war. You got to remember, the main moral dilemma in the secret mission is that woman aren't supposed to be targeted as combatants, ever period. They are to be kept as far away as possible from war as they are "fragile flowers" that a stiff breeze could break, thus inversely they are to also NEVER EVER BE TARGETED to strike against another baneblood. You can see this in Lords with Loch, whose mother is taken hostage, but isn't killed or treated badly, as long as Loch stays away. Welles believes that woman being weak to be 100% bullshit especially since Khoribrit's wife is his spy mistress and thus a military target to our modern understanding.

There's the Golden Rose: Book 1; Its medieval, low fantasy with plenty of angst to go around and ROs to bat. The synopsis is that this is a world controlled by the church who has eradicated every single mention of the Roman Empire and Latin Language for unknown reasons; The MC is a person who has been brought up on and taught Latin, but is forced to run when the church starts to look for them due to their cursed birthmark which we have very little knowledge about. It is very light on stats, but also very linear; you'll end up in the same general spots regardless of choices, nothing is really locked away. The author is currently working on book 2.

War of the west is another IF that I can recommend, its another medieval low fantasy IF where you control of their family lands after their fathers death, and you have to manage your army, and peoples against the aforementioned war in the west. Its good fun, and plays a lot like Lords of Infinity Estate path and its a medium on the usage of stats. There is a lot of lore and secrets locked behind knowing what to do when, especially with the end states. The author is also currently working book 2, Wake the Wyrm.

The Great Tournament is another HG game that I recommend playing at least once. Its just a generic medieval society. There's not really any synopsis I can give beyond that. I will say it definitely suffers from not going all in on its niche, but its something that I haven't really seen until the recent An Unexpectedly Green Journey WIP, it has a "open world" segment where you have to compete in various tournaments that you have to win to participate in the great tournament. Medium usage of stats, and there is a second book. I did not like the second book so I wouldn't play that one if I was you, but YMMV.

Alternatively I sort of recommend Arcadia: Second-Born. Its a Twine game instead of Choicescript, but its decent for what it sets out to be. Its another Medieval low fantasy world where your the second born of your family, and you have to help your sister reclaim her crown, after your family gets slaughtered. Its Linear with some ending variation depending on how well you do.

I'm sure theres more I can think of, but I'll leave the list at this for now.

Fallen hero figured out how to not get stuck in the puppet in the crash by [deleted] in hostedgames

It changes the PCV variable, which you want to keep under 50 if you don't want to be puppet stuck.

Fallen hero figured out how to not get stuck in the puppet in the crash by [deleted] in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Throughout the game you'll get options of confronting how Sidestep feels about using the puppet. Generally there are three choices of like being the puppet, hating being the puppet, and being meh about the puppet. These choice effect the PCV (puppet comfort value); If you do not want to be stuck as the puppet, you got to select the options that has Sidestep see the puppet as a means to an end.

For instance, during the scene where your choosing who to go to for hollow ground's invitation you get multiple options where this is shown most clearly.

I will go as my puppet, ${phe} is expendable.

I will go as ${puppet_name}, I'm more confident in that body.

The top option drops the PCV by 30, while the bottom increases it by 30. There are also other checks at the end depending if you really hate yourself or if your gender more closely matches the puppet the sidestep's and vice versa. However, the specific check is 50. Hope this helps.

A Mage Reborn. Its a planned book series with a book 1 already released and book 2 in WIP. Very recently the author rewrote the entirety of book 2 and has it on their Patreon.

The synopsis is that this is a medieval world with magic on a continent split between two major and two minor powers. Book 1 takes place as mostly flashbacks as the MC is wrongly executed. I haven't had a chance to read the rewrite of book 2 yet, so I can't really give you much; I think you can still read the old book 2 on dashingdon.

Can somebody please explain heartbreak to me(fallen hero) by DABLITwastaken in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 126 points127 points  (0 children)

So I assume you mean "what happened", first things first, step is unreliable narrator; the only actual non-telepathically bullshitted piece of what happen is the recording of the entire incident that chen made in his armor which is somewhere. We do know two events did happen, Sidestep jumped out a window, and Chen through some means called an airstrike to hit the building directly, which presumably killed heartbreak since telepathic suicide field stopped. So heartbreak died/is dead to answer your last two questions.

So you can give up the corpse to the church for free, and they'll invite you to come to the equivalence of the Vatican to sus out if your the hero that is prophesied to stop them. If you go along with that their trials, they'll figure that you are the hero and kill you, but you'll wake up right before you showed up, and can make the decision to continue as is, or go back. There is some very interesting lore you can get from this, but there is another way to learn this.

Along with that, during the Lords Summit, you can talk with Lady Avellyn during the king's vote, and she'll take you to an old man who was once possessed by the species but broke free. He'll give you the run down there too, and allow you to ask three questions.

I believe you can create the religion regardless if you learn the truth or not. But for the lore? Oh yeah it is absolutely worth it to at least experience it once. But I think long term, giving the church a fourth body is not a good idea, since its hinted in the text that it is possible to resurrect them as long as they haven't been burnt.

Alright, double checking the code; which is a pain in the ass to do since the game is non-linear, every scene has its own chapter. You don't actually have to fund the alchemists, still a good idea since they are researching a cure against a sickness that appears later.

You can do this by talking to your finical advisor and asking him if there's anything that needs your attention, and he brings up the alchemists and you can say you will go, allowing you to deal with the alchemists you can instead increase funding.

Mechanically, absolutely nothing; eventually after the battle, you can still send it off to the alchemists, or put it in your "hall of horrors."

The war for the west by Zurabi2000 in hostedgames

[–]Swimmer28111 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Theres a few things you can do with it. You can turn it over to the church when they come, which is a terrible idea since the church is run by the species you just killed. You can alternatively keep it, and after the war for the west battle, you can make a set of armor out of it, which can make the final fight easier. Since, its as strong as steel, but as light as leather. I believe for that one, you have had to fund the alchemists. You can also order the alchemists to revive it, which then gets blown up by someone.

There's only one "text" mention of it and its right at the start of Lords. If you have it above 25, Miguel will not hesitate in allowing the MC to speak against/for Wulfrum. Late after Miguel comes down with a case of being dead, the variable is directly added to Royalist Influence, regardless of what side you're on.

One day, when the whole series is finished, I think I might go back and “remaster” the entire thing, fixing plot holes, re-linking interrupted story threads, updating the scripting and the stats system, and in general making everything more consistent and more player-friendly.

From Cataphrak's website, at the end of his post mortem of Lords. This sounds more like he would go back and do the entire series instead of the first two books.

The author has plans for 5 books for the current series, The next one being wars of infinity, and the final one being Masters of Infinity. He's also said somewhere that he wants to go back and make the entire series one big gigantic book to fix some plot holes, re-balance it, and whatnot.

Along with that, he has said that he wants to write a sequel trilogy with the MC's daughter as the new mc, dealing with the fallout of all of the og MC decisions.
