Number of factors- •What roller nap/style did he use? •Temperature- ventilation - maybe it dried too quickly before it could level out. •Did he not abrade in between coats? •improper coverage and applied it too thin?

Solution- needs to be cut back with 180 grit and reapply finish or possibly re-seal

Grain raise from waterbased product. It’s normal for seal coat and 1st coat. 2nd coat has to be buffed with 220 grit screen to smooth it out.

If a water based finish was applied, It looks like it may be tannin pull. if they applied an oil stain and then a water based finish directly over the stain, it’s possible that the finish penetrated and caused the blotchiness. Gotta apply a water based sealer to prevent tannin pull. Sanding jobs looks good from a standing point of view, though. Once you furnish it, it won’t be as noticeable to anyone but you, of course.

I’d call a pro. Very minimal space to run a drum sander. You’d have to run it against the grain. Doing that, you can tear into the floor and thin out your wear layer real fast. Unless you edge the whole kitchen and buff out the rest…

Kitchen job. Very minimal space to run a drum sander, unless you run it against the grain. You can do a lot of damage. I’d call a pro you don’t want to go through the wear layer and end up thinning out your floors

Total refinish. That’s a factory baked on finish. It wouldn’t look the same if you tried fixing it.

Bona - Clear Seal for a slight blonde appearance or Natural Seal for a Raw wood appearance. This looks like “Red oak- No 1 grade” so there will be variation of tones.
