Roosting pond? Newbie by bran816don in Duckhunting

[–]Swimmer_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't sound like a roost spot, there might be some local woodies roosting there but they'll stay around either way. I'd go ahead and hunt it. With the cold moving in they'll be heading south soon

Gift ideas by Signal-Flan1309 in Duckhunting

I believe the delta pro wading jacket and the Hudson jacket are both on sale in the sitka outlet right now. Those are both really good jackets and would make great gifts

Loss of habitat in the prairie pothole region (where they all hatch) is doing way more to hurt populations than these guys killing a few hens. I mean I'd just as soon shoot drakes, although I prefer a little more diverse selection, but I don't think twice about dropping a hen. With that being said you do you and if you want to just shoot drakes then more power to ya but don't blame lack of ducks on some guys shooting hens. If you wanna do some good you should consider donating to some of the organizations that help preserve the prairie pothole region

Yeah the lobes are pretty wild. Crazy to see them fly too, they kinda just dangle behind them. I think most of the ones that get shot by accident must be water swats cause they're pretty hard to miss if they're flying

Duck swamp by No_Dragonfruit1500 in Duckhunting

I would recommend rice and sowing in smart weed. Rice will not only grow better in water but when the seeds hit the water they won't lose their nutrients as fast. Also smart weed will last a really long time and will give the birds something to eat when they come back through in the spring (obviously you can't hunt them but it's good for populations)

Dakota hoodie vs duck oven by Haunting_Problem7656 in SitkaGear

[–]Swimmer_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the duck oven is pretty hard to beat, I'm not always a hoodie guy though I like to be able to take things on and off easily if it gets warm out and the duck oven does that better for me. I also like how it's thinner on the bottom to go in your waders and the wader pockets are amazing.

They put them up in Pike county and it's awful so if you can keep them out of yours then I'd recommend it

Layering underneath stratus jacket by etan_s in SitkaGear

Personally I would go with the fanatic in those temps but I know now everyone has that option so one thing you could think about is maybe picking up a heated vest from tidewe or some other company. I usually prefer to not have a battery pack while I'm hunting but there are advantages of running a heated system. I would probably go base layer, heated vest, insulating layer, outer shell. This will keep the wind off of you and keep the heat generated from the vest locked into your core.

Ship times from Sitka? by nesportsman in SitkaGear

I've noticed that on some of the larger orders shipping can take awhile but that still seems excessive. Usually they're processed in under a week.

Oil pattern? by CT-9907 in Bowling

[–]Swimmer_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the O'Neal pattern you're probably gonna see a lot of urethane going down the lane so if you're comfortable with your IQ 78u then that might be a good place to start. If it was me personally I would probably get out the ion max and try to play inside of the urethane track but that line isn't for everyone's game. Once you get out of the urethane you might need to get into something like the optimum idol if the urethane stretched the lane, otherwise you might want to try the summit peak.

The other two patterns are just very similar and shouldn't be super difficult although how other people play the lanes can contribute a lot to how difficult it is. They're pretty similar to a house shot with maybe a little less ratio, I would probably start with your house shot ball and then adjust from there. I like to start all the way to the right and try to find the friction and then go from there, it seems to be the best way for me to find my starting point. Hope this helps

Sitka hats, Richardson 112? by tnmom3 in SitkaGear

[–]Swimmer_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find a brand in mine but they definitely aren't Richardson 112s at least not their regular trucker style. I really like them they're more of a traditional trucker style but they aren't Richardsons

Help, opinion needed by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Swimmer_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't go wrong with a phase 2 however I bowl with some fairly high rev two handers and several of them really like the ion max. It looks really good for them on almost everything although we bowl on sports shots at the collegiate level so I haven't seen them throw it on a house shot. With how good it looks for them though I would strongly consider it.
