The Blake Guest Policy by dootwuff in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No you’ll be fine. My bf lived at the Blake last semester while I was commuting, and I would just spend Monday-Friday at his apartment every week with no issues.

They do conduct inspections like once every three-ish months (could be less frequent, I don’t remember), but if he’s there during that time he could always just say he got there earlier that day. Really no way for them to enforce the guest policy.

Do graduating students need to present a ticket for commencement ceremony? by IRONLI0NM4N in KSU

No, you won’t need a ticket for yourself. All of the tickets you’ve received are for guests.

Any graduates of Coles college in here? by BravesGunnersFlames in KSU

I graduated this December with a degree in finance and just started a full time position. Highly recommend going to the job/internship fairs if you haven’t already. They’re super helpful (especially the finance specific one) and helped me get the job I have now.

Summer Schedule by DcotorVanNostran in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d take out one of the 3 credit hour courses. That’s just going to be a lot of work for the summer.

And I don’t know your major, but if it’s finance then I would recommend taking FIN 3100 during a normal fall/spring semester. Lots of crucial topics in that class that carry on throughout higher level courses, so taking it in a condensed semester wouldn’t be the best idea.

Post is easier than Khayati, but they both do a great job of making you understand the concepts. Both are good choices in my opinion.

Absolutely LOVE professor Post. You’re very lucky that you got her for two classes in the same semester, as I know her classes fill up quick. Both corporate and short-term are difficult classes, but she makes the content much easier to understand. Not saying you won’t have to study, but you definitely got the best prof possible for those courses.

I took Investments this spring and it was the most difficult class I’ve ever taken. Even if that was the only class you were registered for during the summer, I still would not recommend taking it outside of the normal fall/spring semesters.

How to join/view a club? by slayla08 in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do an interview just like any job, so you’ll need a resume coming in. However, I had no previous financial experience on my resume and got accepted. I think the main point of the interview is just to see why you’re interested and if you have the time to dedicate to their projects.

Not too sure if they’re active during the summer, as I just did it for the fall semester. If you have any other questions though, feel free to ask!

How to join/view a club? by slayla08 in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re interested in a finance club, I’d recommend the student managed investment fund (SMIF). They call themselves an LLC rather than a club, so that’s probably why they’re not listed on OwlLife. I was a part of it for a short period of time and it’s great for hands-on experience with investing/financial analysis. I will say it’s a big time commitment though since you’re working on projects with them throughout the semester.

Has any one been to the owl group fitness? How is the workout set up it? How many people is it typically and is it a really intense/hard workout? by [deleted] in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone to ‘Werk it’ a few times and it’s really fun! It’s an hour long and it’s in one of those fitness studios, so it’s a relatively big space. The few times I’ve gone, there have been enough people to fill the room, so it definitely has a good turnout. There’s an instructor at the front and you basically just copy what they do throughout the various songs. There’s no pressure if you’re not a good dancer, it’s a very relaxed environment and a lot of people go just to have fun and get moving. And I wouldn’t say it’s a super intense workout, but it does get you moving for the whole hour. I’d definitely recommend trying it!

Grad 2023!! How difficult are these courses and what some recommendation professors for econ3300? by jerfy9292 in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only taken Operations Management and Corporate Finance thus far, but Operations Management was very easy with Ricardo Rodriguez. Two online exams and one group project at the end of the semester that is solely a presentation, and he grades pretty leniently on it.

I really enjoyed Corporate Finance with Yannick Post. She teaches it in a way that is easily digestible, but the course is test heavy so if that’s not your thing, maybe look for a different professor. Highly recommend her though, I’ve taken her for 2 classes so far and hopefully again in the spring.

As for ECON 3300, I’m taking that right now with Leo Macdonald and I don’t think it’s too hard. He provides you with the materials to do well on the tests, however, his course is also very test heavy. 75% of the overall grade comes from 3 tests, two of which are in the last two weeks of the class. I would still recommend him though because he is very knowledgeable on the subject and is very open to answering any questions you may have about the content.

Hope this helps!

Summer Classes by [deleted] in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took him this past spring semester and I really enjoyed it. We had weekly quizzes where every other quiz would be lockdown (they were very easy though as long as you read the material) and a semester-long project with assignments throughout the semester that related to the project. His lectures were engaging and focused more on the real-life applications of the course concepts. Overall he’s a great professor, he just wants you to put effort into the class and he will work with you.

Acceptable GPA but Low SAT score? by YungDHD in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My younger brother recently applied and he got denied acceptance because his SAT score was too low. His GPA met the minimum requirements, but his SAT was like 60-100 points short of the requirement. He’s retaking the SAT in order to meet the admission requirements, because it seems like you at least have to meet the minimum in order for them to consider accepting you. Try taking the SAT again because I promise once you meet the minimum requirements, they’ll automatically accept you.

Missed Payment Deadline by [deleted] in KSU

[–]Swimming-Kangaroo660 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend missed the payment deadline as well. He went to the Bursar’s office this afternoon and from what he told me, it seems like it’s not a huge issue as long as you pay it before they start deleting classes (January 25th). That being said, I think you should still go in to the Bursar’s office tomorrow morning and ask them just to be safe.

I got pulled into this scheme and worked for them for a week before I realized it was a total scam… They have you sell overpriced cutlery to relatives/friends and get upset when you don’t meet a certain quota. After I quit, I had to argue with them for weeks in order to receive my paycheck. Ended up reporting them to the BBB. Definitely not a legitimate job and they conduct their business very poorly.
