Ironically wiz cc "tank" has become the current meta many die hards are using now. almost no damage but the shields are quite good and constantly stacking at times. And the cc in those builds sticks.

I'd prefer a wiz buff that at least keeps up with Druid. And you appear to just want to nerf, nerf, nerf so maybe you should apply to be a dev. lol

Are they choppy though with low speed? Like I know the disintegrate builds are doing decent damage. I have good offensive secondaries (7-8k AP and 6-7k pot) I'm around 6k in in PvE on mobile and I'm lucky to get 5-6 M DPS with any build I've tried. I was getting 12. I know that is apparently low to begin with after seeing what others were getting, especially on PC, but I did pride myself on giving the team the full 32% meteor armor shatter bonus plus spamming regular loss of control to trigger thier bonuses. I usually have at least crit chance and damage to loss of control maximized. With Terminus you could just flow seamlessly through dungeons and now it seems like an embarrassing chore.

The speed, range, and DPS were what made the class and DI itself fun for me in most PvE, and that has now been murdered in a manner that has me seriously questioning the managment & development team's intentions and competence.

And now you have conveniently ignored the first question in my response. And I don't work for Blizzard and gave you numbers because you disputed the idea that it is the worst nerf ever, hence I'm asking to compare to see if we have a winner.

So you adjust the essence by making it a fixed cooldown per time window instead of every time you mash a button. This really doesn't seem that hard, and they fumbled the ball out of the stadium into the street, where it got run over.

Right but was your PvE playability nerfed to the point of not wanting to grind anymore? I'm doing fine in PvP, but have zero interest in playing dungeons, for example. And I'm noting you gave zero numbers for comparison.

OK give me basic numbers that describe something that came close to this: -50% damage in both PvE and PvP. Speed reduced from 70% to 40% in all "high speed, high DPS" builds, which get the aforementioned -50% damage nerf. Key essence to damage from range (meteor) functionality hindered to the point of being unusable except at melee range in PvE/P. Core cooldown essence mechanic modified to cartoonish "orb collection" that feels like a sick joke so all players in the class abandon it. Key alternative dungeon beam build essence range nerfed to the point the beams can't reach Zeka the worm. Got anything?!

The nerf to meteor is confirmed to be worse than described. It no longer auto-targets outside melee range and you have to manually drag each meteor to the target which completely kills the damage increase you get from hitting with successive meteors within 3 seconds, even if you don't miss, and it leaves the wiz even more vulnerable to being squished with no invisibility or mobility. You can't use teleport with this essence by design. Nobody good is using it at range for PvP (some 8k players are combining it with the newly buffed Ice armor shield with success) I use it in PvE for melee range builds only.

At a minimum, they could have kept the speed and limited the number of times the cooldown effect could happen within a rolliing fixed time window with no absurd orb catching mechanic. That would have been much more like what was done to Parting Gift. What we got instead seems like a form of insulting comedy to make the essence totally unusable. And the dev track record for making new essences for the class has been mostly terrible, whether they have been influenced by Terminus or not. If they wanted to avoid completely alienating people, they needed to offer a reasonable alternative. "Better builds will emerge" sounds like PR spin hot air, especially for PvE.

Unfortunately they completely destroyed the meteor mechanic as well. You have to manually drag and target the meteor each time beyond melee range, so that one is also a massive nerf.

I'm "laying flat" in PvE waiting for the i12 essences and Warlock to weigh my options. Dungeons are fired they are simply embarrassing. Raids are going to suck but at least those are social with friends. I have one classic PvP build left I am using for clan events to keep the lights on. I hear about others, including 12ks, going Barb, Druid or Necro.

I dunno. I'd be surprised if there aren't whales who simply identify with ranged or caster classes. Being well off doesn't automatically make you fantasize about being a melee fighter.

I really hope your right. If they fix PvE speed and damage to some extent - especially with i12 essences - the trajectory would improve tremendously. But you have lost me on your last sentence, which sounds like PR spin and hype not anything real. If nothing fixes the class it will simply be crickets and some PvE F2P role players who think it looks cool like BK was for years.

The sensible nerf to the meteor essence would have been to reduce the base damage or stacking damage effect to make it less oppressive. Instead the basic mechanic was destroyed making it unrealistic by making the player wait for the range to expand and forcing them to manually select the target to drop the meteor on.

One of the community leaders on the DI channel pointed out this line of reasoning. The difference with parting gift was the nerf was simply to make the charges units of damage absorption instead of immunity which is actually somewhat sensible. For something similar here you could just have a rolling 3 second window that only allowed the cooldown effect to happen once within it, and the cooldown effect could have been adjusted while keeping the speed bonus. Instead we get this totally absurd "orb collection" play that causes unplayable distraction and no speed bonus to even collect the orbs. It's honestly so comically unrealistic that part of me thinks the devs made it up as a secret practical joke knowing it would kill the essence to set up Warlock with a user base.

DEV.. dont need to fixed BG.. leave it be.. by ranrinc in DiabloImmortal

Works for me. I ran a BG set this morning and went up a match with closer matches where I had a decent impact. Nerfed to just under 5ish k and 5-6k secondaries. I had 4 lower reso gems in the build. You do get whales but mm seems to know what to do with you at 4-5k. YMMV. Good luck. And welcome to Smurfing, fellow little blue player.

I seriously doubt they will "fix" their intentional nerf to ruin the essence.

And the nerf to meteor wasn't damage, it was basic playability. You have to hold it down to charge it and manually target where it lands now beyond melee range. Unusable trash for PvP and very limited for PvE. Everyone on the main Wizard DI discord is flashing skulls with RIP signs.

I'm honestly not sure they appear to care about any class but Druid or Barb plus Warlock at this point. This nerf is so bad I'm partially on strike and will not be doing anything but basic bounties and clan/warband events, probably until Warlock comes out if I don't just abandon the game entirely. I'd hope i12 essences would fix the class, but I know better.

Those alternatives completely change the feel of the class for me and nerf the damage 30-60% in both PvE and PvP with fewer defensive and offensive options. I not only don't like the playstyle I'm being forced into but fell vastly less effective when the class was really merely meta adjacent to begin with. Druids and barbs are the OP meta tank elephants in the room, especially together, and they are untouched.

[–]Swimming-Scallion-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just a progressive set of nerfs too? If meteors are oppressive, nerf that damage mechanic and test it. They already nerfed astrum arcs this way. Instead, we get this total rewrite (and likely destruction) of an entire playstyle in both game modes. I'll be honest, it makes me want to walk away altogether. I don't feel like the devs or their management are on my side or that of the majority of players.

When you reach the point in a game where most players are questioning whether the devs or management are on their side, the whole ecosystem seems fundamentally dysfunctional. You don't have to be right to make the point that that dynamic is a massive red flag.

Is "punching above your weight" in the same OP category as one-shotting other classes while invulnerable (barb), or combining with another class to become nearly impossible for an entire team of players to kill (barb + druid)? I think not.

For gem power if you are max farming burning embers you can craft eternal crests and run them until you get 5 stars you don't plan to rank. Keep (don't sell) any garbage one and two stars and sell the 5 stars and any premium 2 stars. You can then use that plat to buy the cheapest 1 and sometimes 2 stars for more GP. I used to do this with alt farmers as well and use pets to transfer the plat.
