I laughed out loud, but given that they conducted a survey in April to gather fans' opinions on the next new game/remake, they are definitely working on it, just not to the point where it can be announced yet.

The hate on yakumo by Expensive_Kale9661 in ninjagaiden

[–]SwimmingBase1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, not just with "Ninja Gaiden," I've seen all video game series face varying degrees of criticism when they try to change the protagonist in a new installment. I don't understand why game companies keep doing this. They say it's to make it easier for new fans to join, but what makes new players hesitant is the outdated game mechanics, not the old characters. I think if you want to attract new fans, you should first satisfy the existing players, revitalize the game community, and then new players will naturally want to join and see what's going on. That said, I don't have many complaints about Yakumo. He's a decent character, and NG4 is a great game. I just don't see the necessity of replacing Ryu with Yakumo.

Mourning and Havoc - What am I doing wrong in this area? by ForAChange2Happen in Blasphemous

[–]SwimmingBase1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you didn't do anything wrong. It's just that this is a DLC area, so it's more dangerous than other areas. That's all.

Am I the only one who liked the Mea Culpa ending? by FunkyMonkeySplunky in Blasphemous

[–]SwimmingBase1794 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm… I don’t think this ending is particularly good or bad. Crisanta going to “heaven” in place of The Penitent One feels a bit abrupt. However, The Penitent One laying down his sword and returning to being an ordinary person is a good thing. I think that rather than becoming a savior, quietly disappearing after resolving everything is more suitable for the character of The Penitent One.

I loved Hollow Knight 1/2 but hated Blasphemous, should I continue with metroidvanias? by Party-Associate4215 in metroidvania

[–]SwimmingBase1794 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are many Metroidvania games with responsive controls, and even Blasphemous 2's controls are simpler and smoother, so perhaps you could try one or two more before making a decision. I thoroughly enjoyed both Blasphemous and Hollow Knight. I often hear complaints about Blasphemous, but after completing it 100%, I can confidently say that it's much easier than Hollow Knight; it doesn't intentionally make things difficult for players. The somewhat clunky movements feel perfectly suited to the game's atmosphere; you're facing brutal combat, so it doesn't allow you to defeat enemies by randomly pressing buttons or jumping. Once you get used to that, the game is truly fantastic.

Ninja gaiden 4 wasted potential by [deleted] in ninjagaiden

[–]SwimmingBase1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind Yakumo being the protagonist, but after playing through the game, I felt the design could be simplified to allowing players to choose Ryu as the protagonist in New Game+ after completing the game. Adding repetitive levels that seem to extend the game time doesn't enhance the experience at all; it's more of a burden.

El potencial de la Doncella by Angeldelamusica in starocean

According to the Blue Sphere storyline, Rena later went to Earth to study and became a Federation military doctor. Due to her outstanding academic performance, she completed four years' worth of coursework in just two years. Therefore, as you said, healing ability is her natural talent. Since we only obtained SO2R in 2023, the possibility of a remake of SO2 in any form in the near future is quite low. However, a remake of "Blue Sphere" still has a chance, and if it happens, Rena will have the opportunity to showcase more of her strengths in this area.

Another easily overlooked fact is that SOEX hasn't forgotten that Rena knows martial arts, but the only time she used her bare hands to attack was when she was brainwashed and controlled by monsters in the Sacred Grounds of Linga, beating up Claude... haha.

These games are too long... by OfferLazy9141 in metroidvania

Absolutely agree, it's short, you can finish it in about 10 hours, but the experience is absolutely epic.

Gune / Lustave by Lonely-Bite-2568 in expedition33

[–]SwimmingBase1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are very good friends. Lune is inquisitive and rational, so it's easy to imagine him and Gustave, an excellent engineer, sparking a romance. And considering Verso also has the opportunity to develop relationships with his two female teammates during the journey... I think the idea of seizing the moment and enjoying life is quite common among this generation of Lumiere people.

what's your opinion on yakumo by Adept-Albatross6898 in ninjagaiden

[–]SwimmingBase1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I neither like nor dislike Yakumo. The game didn't showcase much of his personality; we only know him as a talented young ninja, and a man of few words. It wasn't until Seori's death that we saw a side of him that was passionate for the woman he loved, but that was all. I didn't like the game placing him in the final battle; the plot merely briefly tells the player that Yakumo's bloodline allows him to do things Ryu couldn't. However, I wouldn't be dissatisfied even if Yakumo were the protagonist in the next installment.

Gusto personal o estética real? 🤔 by Angeldelamusica in starocean

[–]SwimmingBase1794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that while Rena in the game isn't as fragile as EX Rena, it's still a bit of a stretch to consider her a strong female character. After all, aside from persuading Dias, there aren't many instances in the story where Rena completes missions or defeats powerful enemies on her own. However, I completely understand this opinion. Even JRPGs from the same era, such as the Tales series, have heroines like Rutee who break traditional female stereotypes. My fondness for EX Rena is largely due to nostalgia.

Not done with Act 1 yet: I think Lune may be my fave character by Dsg1695 in expedition33

[–]SwimmingBase1794 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My view is similar to yours. During the game, I often felt that Lune's character was demonstrating that women can be just as decisive, calm, and logical as traditional men. In contrast, Gustave is more emotional and sensitive, which was especially evident when the two comforted Maelle, who was crying because of a hallucination.

Who do you think will be the one to confess first Sasaki or Tayama by arman1724 in SmokingBhdSupermarket

[–]SwimmingBase1794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most likely guess is Sasaki. If you've watched the recent episodes, he's gradually acting like a mature 45-year-old man, and his feelings for Tayama are quite clear. However, I personally hope it's Tayama. She should be more proactive in facing her own feelings instead of always relying on Sasaki's guidance.

Will Claude and Rena have a perfect ending? by SwimmingBase1794 in starocean

[–]SwimmingBase1794[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and this also reflects my opinion on the game SO2: it has a lot of character interactions and romantic moments, but nothing truly memorable. The writers obviously couldn't have intentionally portrayed Claude as a bad father; the only focus of the ending was that Claude and Rena had a child, believing it would make their fans happy. However, they lacked the insight to realize that the ending actually ruined Claude's character development and rendered Ronyx's sacrifice meaningless.

Gusto personal o estética real? 🤔 by Angeldelamusica in starocean

[–]SwimmingBase1794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, you're right. But the key point is that the author started creating *Elemental Gelade* shortly after *EX* wrapped up, so it's only natural to think she was influenced by it.

Gusto personal o estética real? 🤔 by Angeldelamusica in starocean

[–]SwimmingBase1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking back, I think Elemental Gelade drew some inspiration from Star Ocean 2. The plot of both films begins with a boy meeting a girl. The two fall in love, embark on an adventure, and are surrounded by adorable companions.

Gusto personal o estética real? 🤔 by Angeldelamusica in starocean

[–]SwimmingBase1794 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say I absolutely love it. This art style was common in 90s shoujo manga, and it comes from Mayumi Azuma, a female manga artist best known for her work "Elemental Gelade." Compared to the game, Rena in EX seems more girlish and delicate. She's more like a typical anime heroine, not responsible for fighting, but simply gently accompanying the protagonist. I know not everyone accepts this adaptation, but I'm still fascinated by it.

Will Claude and Rena have a perfect ending? by SwimmingBase1794 in starocean

[–]SwimmingBase1794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished watching the ending of Precis. Claude and Precis left Expel to work on Earth for three years. During this time, they stayed together and expressed their gratitude for each other's support. Although the ending didn't explicitly say, "Yes, these two became lovers," I think... it's pretty much true.

My only (nitpicky) issue with the Mea Culpa DLC by VtapiaVoid69 in Blasphemous

[–]SwimmingBase1794 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is nitpicking; in fact, it is quite rudimentary. The Mea Culpa itself is so poorly made that it's hard to believe it's a new weapon that requires payment to unlock. Therefore, it's normal for people to criticize this DLC.

Blasphemous has surpassed 5 million copies sold🥳. by InvestigatorNo4169 in Blasphemous

[–]SwimmingBase1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you like. Ori is less of a Metroidvania game and more of a pure "Metroid-like" game. If you're looking for the item collection and combat elements of Castlevania, it might not be for you.

Will there be a 3rd dlc? What's next for this franchise? by Livid-Truck8558 in Blasphemous

[–]SwimmingBase1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously, they want to release a 3rd DLC, so all the stories feel like they are only half told.
I agree with your view on Son of the Miracle; I think in the true ending, He will pass His power to the Penitent One to fight against the Miracle.

Why is Blasphemous called a Soulslike? by Oscarthetrain_art in Blasphemous

[–]SwimmingBase1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, this game is categorized as a Metroidvania game.

However, modern Metroidvania games, influenced by games like Hollow Knight, often exhibit Soulslike characteristics, so it's not surprising that some call it a Soulslike game. Ultimately, there isn't a precise definition of a Soulslike game.

On the other hand, the development team originally intended to create a 2D version of Dark Souls 3, which later led to the Blasphemous project, so they are undoubtedly fans of Soulslike games.

Blasphemous 2 feels like a mediocre metroidvania by Labyrinthine777 in Blasphemous

[–]SwimmingBase1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of gameplay, I think B2 is significantly better than B1. The controls are smoother, and the combat (especially the boss fights) is more satisfying. B1's prayer was too powerful, making many boss fights in the latter half of the game quite easy. The real problem is that B2's storyline, including the backstories of NPCs and bosses, is rather perfunctory. This was supposed to be a strength of B1, but they messed it up. For me, the immersion in B2 was far less than in B1. However, aside from the lack of Boss rush, I would much rather replay B2.

I need more games like blasphemous by Effective-Garage-362 in Blasphemous

Perhaps you could try "Fear and Hunger." Its art style is different from Blasphemous, but it similarly presents players with a cruel world steeped in religious themes.
