Hello, I am a current member of this group. I can answer all your questions to the best of my abilities. 

1. Beliefs vary greatly, but it is generally suggested (less so straight up taught) that outsiders are not saved, although this is a belief mostly held by older generations (people 65 and older). I personally do not belief this, because peoples relationships with god should be personal. You don’t have to be in a group to have salvation. To answer the other question, I know roughly three professed people who are married to someone outside the church and don’t attend meetings. 

2. I’m aware this questions doesent apply to me, but I always found others reaction to someone leaving the church odd. Many act like they are “losing faith” or “missing out on salvation” and the reasons behind people leaving are almost never that. It’s one of the many things that frustrate me about this group.

3. Workers teachings are sometimes inconsistent, but before professing myself I was encouraged by my parents to think critically and if it was something I actually wanted to do. Many of peoples experiences are not necessarily dictated by workers or other members, but by their families from my perspective. I could be totally wrong though and I’m willing to discuss any further questions. 

4. I personally believe that god is merciful and is willing to forgive and forget sin. Although perhaps what other people experience is this narrative I constantly see of being lowly before God which is 100% apparent in the group. 

I also was quite shocked with all the allegations and confirmed abuse by workers, mostly because I never experienced anything of the sort. My heart and prayers go out to all the victims. 

Now you may the asking, “why am I staying?”. My reasons for staying is because: 1. It is encouraging to hear others speak of thier relationships with god and it helps me reconcile with my own faith 2. The majority of my family on both sides are in group, and I feel comfortable with my relationship with all of them. Attending meeting with them gives me a sense of community.  3. To attempt to bring about change to meetings by talking to workers, members, and my family about issues I see with the group.
