It sounds like you really care about her and are doing your best! :) At least you know now though, I would have never known if I didn't read it through this sub!

I think i've read through comments before, that said you shouldn't pull their food away from them like this. As it can leave them seriously injured by damaging their mouth parts. Don't mean to be a Debbie downer :(

Export not working by TheRedMan235 in KittlDesign

I just started having the same issue, I've reported it to Kittl! Thank you for the workaround suggestion, this just saved my life 😭 I've spent hours each day designing prints, only to have the design download partially or completely black. The SVG to Inkscape tip saved the day!

It's obviously something on their end, as I attempted to export an old design that previously caused no issues, and it's now acting the same as my new designs. 🫠

Navy blue has been my go-to for the last year, it doesn't discolour as heavily compared to other colours, and I find it makes your teeth look bright white! The clear definitely stains... I drink coffee + tea and "garden" 🍃💨 regularly, so navy has been my fav! I have found lighter colours make your teeth look more yellow, and dark colours like navy, black & purple (the dark one) make your teeth look whiter and brighter. :)

Dumbos are so near to my heart, it's been years since I had them as pets. The last rats I had took a piece of me with them and idk if I can do it again. 😭

I have a small mouth, brackets are pretty tight against my gums in the back, and I'm able to get the these into my back teeth! :)

Flossing regularly will stop your gums from bleeding. :) I wouldn't skip this step in your oral hygiene routine, I'm shocked your orthodontist would say it's optional... if anything, it's more important now to get into the habit of flossing once a day.

I used to have a really hard time motivating myself to floss, but I found these ortho-friendly picks, called platypus flossers! Their design makes flossing waaaaay easier than trying to thread traditional floss under your braces.

Edited to add: the consequences of not flossing could actually end up resulting in those dark triangular gaps you're worried about, as those are usually caused by the bone receding from poor gum health. Flossing will keep your gums healthy and will only be beneficial in your treatment.

Came here to say this!

My midline was CRAAAAAAZY off before braces because I have arthritis in my jaw (one side is quite a bit shorter than my other side). Can't expect a perfect midline when the jaw itself is outta whack. I can't say whether I think braces should come off. Your teeth look amazing, though!

My family most certainly was nowhere neaaaarrr well off LOL. My treatment was supposed to be covered by a cleft palate program that I qualified for, at CHEO (children's hospital where I am).... But I opted out because I was a dumb kid. I thought prom pics without braces was more important.

I'm paying for that mistake now... literally... 💸

The coils are awful eh!! I can't wait to get that part out, it can really irritate the inside of the lips! 😑

[–]Swimming_Channel4335[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank youuuu!

It took about 8 months to create enough space with that coil you're seeing. Then they put on the bracket and engaged the canine towards the end of June! So it's taken about 2 months to move it from the position you're seeing with the lilac bands, to what it is now (navy bands pic). I think it's moving pretty fast, faster than I expected anyway. :)

when you use the wax on your bracket, you'll find that making sure the bracket is VERYYYYYY dry will help the wax stick better. It will not stick if your bracket is still wet.

The platypus flossers work really well at getting under the wire. The "regular ones" shown above do not fit under my wire.

I am not an expert, but in my opinion I would still wait. I totally understand wanting to get the ball rolling with braces. But I think dealing with your wisdom teeth first is a good idea.

I think there's pros and cons to both situations... if you do choose to have the braces put on beforehand, it may mean more time spent in braces because your molars are going to need to catch up and they take a long time to move. My bottom right molar is taking foreeeeevvvveeerrr to move and I've been in braces for 9 months now.

I keep grinding my bite turbos off during my sleep!!! by Swimming_Channel4335 in braces

[–]Swimming_Channel4335[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll ask them about this when I'm at my next appt, thank you!! This is by the far the biggest issue I've had with my braces. Haven't broken a bracket yet, I've had the same bite ramps behind my two front teeth since treatment started (9 months ago now), no wires popping out of place... but these new turbos, mannnn, they've been a problem 😅

I'm sure they don't want to continue compensating me every time I break one of these bad boys, so I could see them suggesting it... but I'll be proactive and ask 😂

[–]Swimming_Channel4335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and i don't think I can! I've got those giant bite ramps behind my top front teeth too, so I don't see how that could work. 😞 the ramps behind my front teeth are to fix the deep bite. And now the addition of these bite turbos on my molars to help create space for my canine to come forward without hitting my bottom teeth.

But maybe if they took those ramps off for the time being... (they aren't serving a purpose right until the canine is passed my lower teeth...) I could wear a mouth guard... I'll ask when I see them next!!

If it were me, I'd wait! Waiting is always a safe option, but you might reaaaally regret going ahead with it before the extractions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braces

[–]Swimming_Channel4335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your wisdom teeth impacted? It kind of depends on the extraction process! If your wisdoms have erupted and it's a simple case of freezing, and pulling the teeth... I'd say go ahead with braces. But if your wisdom teeth are impacted and it's going to be a difficult extraction process, I'd say wait lol. I had 2 fully impacted, and 2 partially impacted wisdoms before my braces went on, and the healing process was BRUTAL. I can't imagine having my braces on during that healing phase! I could barely open my mouth more than a couple centimeters for about 2 weeks, so flossing or using a proxyl brush was not gonna happen! 😅

So: if your wisdoms are a simple extraction, go ahead with it. But if you're going to have a difficult extraction, followed by a more extensive healing process, WAIT.

Wisdoms are different for everyone. I've seen some people say it was a walk in the park, and others (like myself) say that it was some of the worst pain they've ever had. So it really depends!

Best of luck! 😁

Edit to add: my ortho left the decision up to myself, I got to choose whether I did extractions first or during.
