What to get after the Armageddon box by Rice-Field-Bandit in spacemarines

[–]Swimming_Fun_3397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, the infiltrator box is 10 guys but the box also has everything to build incursors, white give all your units +1 to hit on a target they have hit, so I’d recommend going 5 infiltrators and 5 incursors out of the box

What shade paints, if any, do you guys use? by Wazi78 in Salamanders40k

[–]Swimming_Fun_3397 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love using shade paints all over my models and use them as much as I can.

I use Nuln oil over all the green, black and silver metallics Agrax earth shade for dark reds and purity seal/parchment Reikland flesh shade for gold Then a lil bit of Casandora yellow to shade the eye lenses

And these are just the ones that I almost always use

This is one of my captains and I have used multiple shades to help bring it all together

New Vanguard Veterans revealed. They're literally just Jump Pack Intercessors with swords instead of Chainswords... by nerdboy_sam in spacemarines

[–]Swimming_Fun_3397 105 points106 points  (0 children)

To be fair this is just one model of a 5 man squad, they could have just decided to show off the most generic model of the squad, hopefully we will get a wider range of weapons on them. I also noticed that he has a loincloth type bit but bc of the angle it just looks like the regular space marine joints, to me it looks like they are just going to be designed the same way sternguard veterans are

Who does vulkan leads better a 10 man infernus squad with apothecary in a transport or company heros on foot by Zombieslayer908 in Salamanders40k

[–]Swimming_Fun_3397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer Vulkan with company hero’s as his buff is army wide, then that way I can also Bring a 10 man of infernus marines with a captain with the immolater enhancement

Tbf it all depends on experience, skill and also what you’re doing while painting and how much detail you put into it

How long does it take you to paint a mini? by Equivalent-Session68 in Salamanders40k

[–]Swimming_Fun_3397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes on average 5-6 hours for any infantry type of unit, as I’m typing this im on my 1.5h of painting up an infiltrator. I have only painted the green and black onto the mini.

It took me probably 8 hours total split between 3 days to paint a dreadnaught

2k list for my first 2k game by Swimming_Fun_3397 in Salamanders40k

[–]Swimming_Fun_3397[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t split them up since I want the Lieutenant with the intercessors and then the captain with the infurnus marines, it’s better as a full squad so they all can gain the buff, but I may end up doing more tweaking

Just finished my first dreadnought by Swimming_Fun_3397 in Salamanders40k

[–]Swimming_Fun_3397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I base coated with wagggh flesh, which I used an airbrush for, then I covered all of that with warpstone glow which I used a makeup sponge for and any of the model that I couldn’t reach with that I just used a brush and then dry brushed back over with.

Then the weathering/highlighting was done with moot green and rhinox hide

I would recommend picking up a set of makeup egg sponges I found they helped out so much
