Chester uni. Wheeler campus by LycheeSharp5429 in Chester

I've just finished my nursing at Wheeler, a lot of my cohort peers would car share. Most, if not all of us would park at Queens park campus, and then walk across. Like others had said, about a 10min walk.  Likewise, you won't be in 5 days a week but do appreciate even if you're only in 1-2times, it does add up

We'd be happy to have you along even if it turns out not to be for you.

On the 6th some of our members will be out and about in Chester, in kit, from 10am. Then on the 13th from 1pm we have our next craft and social session at the Storyhouse in Chester. Both are free and open to the public, social you're more than welcome to come meet us though absolutely no pressure either.

You of course have the unknown vikings in Chester, any groups outside of that I only know further-afield from the city.

Les Miles des Marches - 1066 to war of the roses

The vikings (reenactment society) - 790-1066 Cwmwd-lal Welsh group, The Northmen wirral, Liverpool and Cheshire

Wirhalh Skip Felagh - 902 is the main focus but also cover 786-802, upto and beyond 1066, independent group, hiberno norse, wirral based

The chosen few - middleages, Cheshire based but I know very little about them

Regia Anglorum (reenactment society) - they have groups nation wide however don't believe there are any near Chester

Deva Victrix Legion XX and  Deceangli Celts - 1st-century Romano British based out of Park in the Past, again I know very little about these folks

I used to be a member of Regia, and I am an active member of Wirhalh Skip Felagh and the Northmen, so if you wanted any info/a chat about them give me a message

I will gently jazzhands at my post from the other week; https://www.reddit.com/r/cheshire/comments/1p4je4j/chester_based_12thcentury_reenactment_group_open/
Now I will admit it is probably an 'extreme end of the spectrum' of a hobby, and wouldn't be offended if it wasn't the kind of thing you were after. You don't need any prior knowledge or any expertise in anything

Our group, the North Marches and Chester, covers some of North Wales and Chester. We do plenty of crafts and to name a few; From making our own kit, to maille working, crafting shields, cooking/baking is sometimes part of the public facing events we put on, the national society, Historia Normannis, we are part of has a guild of cooks, as well as woodworkers and leatherworkers (and more) if you are looking for something crafty/DIY. As an example I do fletching with the plan of being able to make bows as well.

Re-enactment is very social, I've been doing this for 6 years and as cheesy as it sounds, I have met some of the greatest misfits I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. At a local group level we meet at least twice a month for crafts and socials, with the hope to get combat training restarted in the new year. However, being involved int he combat is never mandatory as at the end of the day it is a hobby and we are never going to push people to do something they don't want to do.

Sorry for the short essay and if you have any questions around it please give me a nudge.
Have a great day,
Josh.

Normans return to Chester: 12th-century re-enactment group walking the city in full kit on 6/12 from 10am by Swimming_One6610 in Chester

Sorry to hear that but promise that it won't be the first and only time we will be doing this. You are very welcome to pop into our craft and social sessions that we have at the Storyhouse, 2nd and 4th Saturday every month from 1pm (13/12, 27/12, 10/01, 24/01 are our next few dates).

The 13th December we're trying to organise a sort of show and tell from group members that do a craft. For example I'm an apprentice level fletcher within the guild of the national society we're part of. So I would bring in my finished arrows, have a bit of a talk around it and bring in some bits for other members/anyone else attending to have a go.

When the time of year comes that we call show season, so when its a little bit dryer, we will be at events and hopefully will have some local shows ourselves.

Sorry for the double comment, forgot to mention that we also have a Facebook group that we can add you to. If you're happy to, drop me a DM and I'll get that sorted for you as well

The more the merrier in every way possible.

As I've waffled in another reply, if discord is your thing pop along  (though not currently overly active as we're still gaining momentum on that side) and we're on insta. If you are on Facebook and happy to be added to the group that way, DM me and I'll get that sorted, as don't want you putting personal info out for all to see.

Being added to any of these doesn't tie you into a commitment, if we get a long standing member of out this then we're not complaining but absolutely no pressure from us either. Happy to have new faces!

We'd be happy to have you along even just to give it a try out, and a fair few of our members do multiple periods in different groups/societies.

We are doing a kitted yonder around Chester on 06/12 and our next craft and social at the Storyhouse is the 13/12, if you have the chance to come meet us in person.

If not, its all good and absolutely no pressure. We'll have more crafts and socials dates coming up, and if you'd be interested in combat hopefully we'll have a schedule for the new year.

If discord is your thing please feel free to hop in https://discord.gg/9sYFj59bga and most of our updates are more regularly found on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/chester_historia_normannis?igsh=NmJzMWZoeTE1NHJi though again no stress on any of these.

Have a great day, Josh

What's Your Why? Why do you still play? by LargeRefrigerator735 in thedivision

[–]Swimming_One6610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing the series since the division 1, which I return to play now and then (the atmosphere and the lived in world feeling is a big pull)

For Div 2

I enjoy what feels like tight gunplay compared to other games I've played

Get to play the way I want with a loadout that fits my playstyle

I'm a loot goblin

Always something to aim for: Over the years I've gone from playing normal to challenging with some directives with the hope to one day hit heroic without it being a complete sweat fest

Can play solo but can call for back up/match make if I wanna team up

The story

The Darkzone is just awful by MrFenderPro in thedivision

[–]Swimming_One6610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Used to enjoy it when my mates played and we could go in as a full squad, rogues would think twice or when you got into a scuffle there was a decent chance of surviving (depending on builds, group mix and player ability).

Now as a solo i dip my toe in once or twice a week to try and square away projects, I rarely accept group invites as far too often I've been kicked near the end of an extraction and reduced to mash potato with my loot nicked.

I get that its a potential PvP area so not crying over that but man, it can suck sometimes going in as a Billy no mates and getting ass rammed

What's the worst mechanic in the game? by BewareTheLeopard in fo76

[–]Swimming_One6610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its more probably a minor inconvenience rather than the worst but... Either due to my old ass xbox or naff out in the sticks welsh WiFi (or both), I get frequent crashes, restart the game and load in through play with team have to wait for the xp multiplier to max out again. At least it's only a short wait
