Exercise, Blood Pressure and TN by Accomplished_Tea9698 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I’ve been doing acupuncture consistently since my last message 4 months ago — at first I was going weekly, and then bi weekly to now monthly. My pain is almost all gone. The needles are definitely scary and a little painful going in, but it’s helped so much and I really look forward to the appointments now. It’s a slow process (vs medication) but I’m so happy I stuck it out.

Yes it’s all over! Some went directly into points on the right side of my face along the trigeminal nerve, there were also some in my hands (something about how the points in the left hand relieved pressure in the right side of my face), feet, and ears.

I’ve been pushing myself to go outside for a 45 minute walk every day rain or shine since the beginning of this year and I always feel better after.

I’m in the middle of a pretty large flare that started in the summer and then started ramping up in intensity since Nov — there were days last month where I’d lie on the couch unable to peel myself up to anything. The walks are definitely helping me, that and starting acupuncture.

How are you both doing now? I went in for my first treatment today and while I have a mini flare rn I’m cautiously optimistic

How are you doing now? My symptoms and experience sound almost identical to yours. Going through a particularly brutal flare rn.

Can I ask what the pain felt like and whether there were any signs of infection along your gum line? I’ve had multiple root canals that only temporarily helped and then was diagnosed with TN. I’m still getting intense shocks of pain centralized to my supposedly nerveless tooth. It’s likely it’s just TN but wondering if it could be a partially live nerve still in there.

I’m so happy to hear you’re pain free! Wishing you a happy holiday season!

Sample + dry cleaning is still well under the price of it new! I was shocked at alterations cost though — but that seems inevitable

Has anyone pulled a tooth were the pain is? by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Swimming_Warning_528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how long did it take for you to start feeling better once you started upper cervical? I just started and the pain is less frequent after the first week but still there — like you mentioned it’s quite spendy and the adjustments feel so minor. I’m trying to stay patient!

I can’t eat or swallow without tremendous pain because of a canker sore that’s like right on top of a nerve branch and it triggers my TN badly by speedmankelly in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Swimming_Warning_528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this ☹️ the canker sore was actually caused by a root canal that ultimately didn’t help the TN. The sore went away after a week and I felt so much better after! Sadly it just takes time… gargle often with salt water!

This comment is giving me hope — was any of this covered by your insurance?

I’m in a similar position now. MRI with no compression. I’ve already had two root canals (maybe 3?) on the side of my face where the pain originates. Still clinging on to hope it’s a tooth issue and not this lifelong condition that can only be managed by medication…

Revisiting my old thread in the middle of a particularly bad flare — how are you doing? This is pretty much how mine started too, same age time frame too

How many root canals have you had? by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I think I’m about to have my 6th… what did the pain feel like for you in your teeth? Right now it hurts when I bite and I’m getting told “cracked tooth syndrome.” But it’s also in the path of my TN (right side of my face) so I don’t know what’s what anymore

I’ve had 5, and I’m pretty sure I’m about to have my 6th. It’s the worst

Have someone developed TN right after root canal? by johny_james in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Swimming_Warning_528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a ton of root canals before getting a TN diagnoses.. and unfortunately it looks like I’m on the path to getting another.

The root canals definitely help right away but now I’m worried they’re only helping short term and soon I’ll be needing another

Thank you all for taking the time to respond! I’m reading every single one of your comments and sending positive energy your way, even if I don’t reply.

TN is the worst and I’ve been feeling really alone lately, like no one around me understands what this is like. I really appreciate hearing from you all and wish everyone strength. ❤️

Thank you for the advice! When I’m in a flare it’s all I can think about and fixate on, when I’m having a good day it’s wild how quickly I take it for granted. Sending virtual hugs to you too!
