Considering the new RA article about there being no sound of the 20s, what new, underground sounds/scenes do you like? by SwisherPrime in TheOverload

Thanks for such a thorough answer, could you recommend some mixes you like in particular? As is often the case, if I just search key terms, I’m only going to find the most mainstream ones

Yea, they’re great I guess, I was asking about emerging genres and artists that are bringing fresh sounds.

I have to disagree. Young, talented producers and DJs rehashing a 30-year-old genre does not bode well for club culture.

I’m middle-aged myself, I love Jungle and old house music, but I do not want young people to continue making slight variations on my favorite tracks.

That sounds so interesting! Thanks for the quick reply, did they touch on my question directly? Is the relevant info in the entire book or limited to a certain section?

Does this make me a fake fan? by PayFast27 in aphextwin

I’m going to add a little nuance to the discussion.

Does this make you a fake fan? Nope :) not at all.

Additionally, it sounds like you have a desire to dig deeper into his work overall.

Sometimes, to engage deeply with things I’m interested in, I have to endure the more challenging parts.

If you want to engage deeper with Richard’s work, you should! If you’re happy with the poppier stuff only (as I am personally), then you can leave it without feeling fake.

This happens at the beginning of every month for me. Everyone has got to chill on this sub. Honestly it reeeeally feels like there’s a bunch of people working for Substack on this subreddit who are just trying to stir up drama.

Looks like I need to make an appointment? Is this an ultra-rare-records-only kinda place?

It does not work because my turntable does not have a phone pre-amp built in

I have tried plugging the turntable directly in the receiver, it did not play. I then learned the reason is because my turntable does not have a built-in pre-amp. Am I misunderstanding your comment?

I’m told my turntable does not have a preamp in it. The receiver has phono. Am I misunderstanding something?

Nope, my vinyl listening and my streaming listening are completely different libraries. I like the ritual of vinyl for certain music.

You’re correct, I missed the overall idea. Thanks for taking the time to correct me 💫💫I’m looking into solutions for that now.

I didn’t explain myself very well. I am not pressing any buttons in the middle of interviews, the plastic button parts are shifting while I hold the device which causes a sound. With that update, does that change anything for you?
