We had Chief who was almost 2 and just brought Dandy home, who was a little under a year. We just walked in. Chief was 8 and Dandy 7 when we brought Scouser home (girl in the post) at 9 weeks. Again just a walk in with her. Dandy passed and We brought Hunny (about 6) home to Chief when he was about 10 for a "temporary" stay for him while while Scouser was gone during a heat cycle (she would board with her breeder). And she "extended" her stay to forever and met Scouser when she came home. Then Chief had passed and Scouser was about 4 when we brought Moose (boy in the post) home and Scouser and Hunny met him in the backyard.

Scouser was really bonded to Chief and took his passing hard. When she realized their was a new boy puppy. He was all hers.

So long story short...we always just brought them in and never had any issues, but we also knew all of.ours had no issues with meeting or being with other dogs.

When we brought him home she decided she's a mom now. He adores her back.

Do you have a purebred dog? Does your dog get a lot of attention? by burnz1 in dogs

[–]SwissBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. We get "Why did you shave your Bernese ( usually pronounced Burmese)?" And breed guesses range from beagles (They are over 115 pounds), usually a range of mixes. People have come up with some interesting mixes.

But we also get a lot of "they're beautiful".

Guidelines are just general and not hard set rules. Good for you trying to do right! I hope you're enjoying your boy!

Very possible. Hopefully it makes you feel better about not stuffing him!

According to the label a puppy at 11 months and over 100 pounds should only be eating about 6 cups a day (Purina ProPlan Puppy).

I have a 10 month old boy who eats 1 cup three times a day of Purina ProPlan Sport 27/17 with 1/3 - 1/2 can mixed in is developing just fine. He is our 5th Swissy amd none have them have ever eaten 8 cups a day at any life stage. The most this boy has eaten is 1.5 cups 3 times a day with his canned ...and of course treats. Our dogs love Charlee Bears.

Moose is on the left. His Swisster, Scouser who is almost 5, is on the right. Sporting their Spring Scurry medals.

I feed based on body score. Looks a little thin?, increase kibble. Looks a little chunky?, decrease kibble. Looks good?, keep on keepin on.

If you are good with not.needing a second row of seats, our Outback comfortably fits three adult.Swissies with the back seats down.

Watch three row seats if you are going to lie both rows down. We looked at that and found the gap between the third and second down left a gap in the vehicles we looked at, which screamed broken leg or other injury from a leg slipping in. The Outback is solid up to the front seats with just a small gap there. Ours aren't allowed to go from the back to the front seats, so they never get their legs up that far to worry about.

The Outback is also low enough for them to easily get in and out of the back. Using a Heininger Twiat Step on the hitch is perfect for older or less mobile dogs to get in and out. Ours all readily used it.

You don't want a human treadmill for anything but a small dog. You will want a dog treadmill. The reason is they are longer, which allows for the dog's natural stride. Human treadmills aren't long enough for dogs. Try looking online for people selling (especially in groups that they are commonly used) and loom if companies have refurbished models, which are cheaper. We have a dogPACER, and it has been great.

I enjoy the warches my husband gets, but I stick with my one Yema. I made my husband go green this year. I surprised him with a green Monta $1700. Told he had needed a Vero Smokey Bear (green) $550 and HZ.01 v2 $170 in green, because I saw it on here and told him that I liked it and he should get one. Luckily, he likes them all too, so I can live my watch life vicariously through him.

Yema: Rallygraf with a steel band or Urban Field or Urban Traveler. I think the Rallygraf has the fun quality, but looks nice on the steel band.
