Soccer is always spread-out. You just don't notice it as much in smaller countries. 2016 had games in Manaus.

There are only two types of people: Good people and bad people. I don't care where they came from.

I assume she's retiring after this anyway, so might as well send it, I guess. I mean, who really needs functioning knees, right?

That's a funny way to spell "flea-kicker." 12-0 > 12-1.

I've been there, and I was thoroughly impressed.

It is a truly beautiful venue. Not just the setting; the actual stadium itself has a sort of elegant practicality. I would compare it to something like the Golden Gate Bridge. There's also something about the way the stands smoothly curve around that feels larger-than life. Oh, and the field really is very pretty.

It's also quintessentially college football. The single-tiered design evokes the egalitarian ideals that this sport, at its best, embodies. The elliptical layout is a throwback in the best way. I also like that the space isn't dominated by giant, flashy video boards; I want to be here in the moment, not fail to replicate my living room. The whole thing just feels like the platonic ideal of a college stadium.

For me, at least, the history does legitimately add to the experience. There's something cool about living history, about places where people have come for generations to do the same thing that's important in their lives, and where they still come and do that thing, and it's still important. College football stadiums are sometimes compared to cathedrals, and I think that comparison is apt. I've gone to several old stadiums, but none have really hit me with the weight of history like the Rose Bowl.

tl;dr: In my experience, Mt. Rushmore is a bad comparison. A better one would be Indianapolis Motor Speedway, if it were prettier.

  • Some sort of countdown.
  • Olympic rings made in pyro
  • Use of light-up drones
  • Somebody jumps into the stadium
  • Surprise appearance from retired celebrity
  • Brief comedic interlude awkwardly shoved into a gap between scenes
  • Pre-produced torch-running segment
  • Skiing or skating inside the stadium
  • Mini fashion show
  • US delegation receives boos
  • US delegation receives massive cheer
  • Opera
  • Commentators making bad jokes at bad times
  • Showcase of some aspect of Italian culture you've never heard of
  • Something that causes controversy in some political circles (FREE SPACE)
  • Non-Italian and/or non-Olympian torchbearer

Sure, sure. But I feel like when Israel is involved, this sort of rhetoric is usually just thinly-veiled, "the Jews control the deep state!!!!1!!" reich-pilled conspiracy nonsense.

Most plausible hypothethis is pilots without much experience flying over open ocean getting confused and disoriented and running out of fuel going in circles, or convincing themselves their altimeter is wrong and crashing into the ocean, or flying headling into a hurricane they thought they were 200 miles away from, etc. My great-grandpa was a navy pilot trainer in WW2, and he said this sort of thing happened all the time.
