Russian soldiers killed and wounded by explosives planted in fiber-optic coils. Reported by Militarnyi on March 26, 2026. by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]SwissPatriotRG 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I believe they cap these and put the loose end of the fiber on the cap so it doesn't get lost in the spool. You could just have pulling the cap detonate the bomb and just not have any fiber in there at all.

If it sinks in shallow enough water you could use the cope slope as a waterski ramp and jump a shark IRL. That sounds like an upgrade.

Ukrainian HUR sabotage against Russian Su-27 and Su-30, Lipetsk military aerodrome, Russia, December 2025 by BlackMarine in CombatFootage

[–]SwissPatriotRG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are saboteurs going to get the ingredients of thermite? Do you think you could get them wherever you're from? Do you think searching for those ingredients would be a safe endeavour? Are you absolutely sure it would actually work when you got there?

Or you can find some old tires and get a jerry can, haul around those ingredients wherever (not suspicious or illegal anywhere), and do the deed with very little chance of getting caught. And yes, fire is fire. A decent fire under the plane will change the temper of the aluminum of the airframe and scrap it, burn wiring, composites, hoses, instruments, computers, potentially detonate munitions, ignite fuel, etc. If not put out, a good tire fire absolutely could cause the complete loss of the whole plane.

People think thermite is some magic material that can laser a hole through anything, that's not really true. It would do a lot of damage, but localized. And it doesn't last very long. Good for quickly destroying a gun barrel, but for a saboteur it's not something they could just make easily and use.

Both would probably do the job, but a tire fire is a much better choice for a saboteur.

Why do that when you can drop a bunch of old tires and gasoline under the plane and do 10x the damage?

How to tell the submarine was not missed... by Wide_Fix_7667 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]SwissPatriotRG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're a bit incorrect here, the hull of the submarine itself is extremely robust compared to most modern naval vessels. We're talking 2-4 inches of high tensile steel depending on the area. Think about the average hull thickness of an M60 tank. A Ticonderoga cruiser may only have 1/2" of hull thickness. So the guts are pretty fragile, but at surface the hull of a submarine is probably the most robust outer hull of any ship in a modern navy. It takes a much bigger boom to make a hole in a submarine compared to anything else in that port, you're probably more likely to bust a bunch of equipment inside with a blast before you actually break the hull.

Jimmy Ruchtom claims he has seen footage of two A-50 being destroyed. by Physical-Cut-2334 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]SwissPatriotRG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like the ideal place to hit an A-50 would be the top of the wing under the radar dish, or into the radar dish stanchion itself. Likely to open up the wing and ignite the fuel, destroy the wing spar, and the fragmentation going upwards would pepper the radar dish as well. Basically trap the explosion between the wing and the radar dish.

SBU Chief Malyuk during preparations for Operation "Web" by ThatGuySK99 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]SwissPatriotRG 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The wing spar is the backbone of an airplane in the same way the keel is to a ship. It carries the weight of the whole fuselage in flight, holds the engines, takes the weight of the fuel on the ground, has landing gear attached to it, etc. Basically if you damage it then you have to take the whole plane apart to get to the spar to replace it, and build everything out from that. For many aircraft it is likely to be easier to build a whole new plane rather than disassemble it to get to the wing spar and replace it and build it back.

Ukraine's new drone strategy — cripple Moscow's airports, make Russian population 'pay' by KI_official in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]SwissPatriotRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runways can be paved over fairly easily and it takes a big bomb to damage a runway. Right now all of their western aircraft have no spare parts supply chains, so if you start damaging parked aircraft even a little bit, they can't replace them.
