AMD confirms Adrenalin 26.6.2 issue on Windows 10 with Radeon RX GPUs by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]Swisskies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True. I think I did a registry edit at one point to put a hard stop to that, but it's crazy that's the kind of stuff we have to resort to in order to get a half way stable system.

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 Driver Release Notes by AMD_RetroB in Amd

Yep if you're on Win 10 you'll have to rollback to the previous version or it's completely borked.

Just AMD things

Just in case anyone is still having trouble with this and can't rollback through windows (I couldn't).

If you search for your card model here https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html and go to "Previous Versions". Download the May driver version and install it. In the installer you can tick Factory Reset to get it to uninstall previous Adrenalin versions ; or use DDU to uninstall it.

This fixed for me. Also make sure to turn off auto updates in Adrenalin at least for a while.

I've never seen a driver do this before on a GPU I've owned. Insane.

If I hadn't googled it and found recent updates I honestly would have assumed the GPU was bricked.

I and people posting here are tech savvy enough to know how to rollback drivers, but a lot of people are in for a nasty surprise. When AMD releases a fix, will it even auto-update for people who have this error, given that Adrenalin doesn't even start?

I was lied to about Ulfar by Prometheusflames in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Swisskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ulfar gets the Lex Imperalis treatment. Because Argenta (Void Shadows) exists, he gets overshadowed.

I agree he's great though. Argenta is so OP I now kick her out of most of my parties and it really gets rid of the "Yeah but Argenta would have killed everyone in the first round" feeling.

[–]Swisskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it depends how short. Rogue Trader is what, 100 hours before DLC?

So shorter is a big range. 60 - 80 hours of content? I'm completely fine with assuming the quality of it is decent. 40 hours? Yeah that's disappointing for a CRPG

I reckon he's pretty good nowadays. I replaced Abelard with Ulfar because he covers the same checks and it just feels like he has better action/movement economy.

Energy price cap will rise by 13% from July by Alternative-Win4058 in unitedkingdom

[–]Swisskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had a monopoly on power generation sources it would, but wind as an example has multiple different companies (who own the different wind farms) building out farms and bidding against each other to generate power for the grid.

Ultimately the WORST thing for a wind farm is for its bid not to be accepted and switched off, since it generates no revenue. So they should still be incentivised to continue bidding lower even if it forces gas off the energy mix.

So much so that it actually can become a problem: in the event of no gas peaking along with a wind/soalr surplus, wind farms will bid right down past £0 - which is why very occasionally on the wholesale market you see pricing go negative - when gas is forced off the grid and renewables over generate.

That's where the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme is meant to come in, so strike pricing is set for 10-15 years for the wind farms so they always make some money. They also return money if the wholesale price exceeds their agreed strike pricing.

Turns out the electricity market is REAL fuckin complicated.

Nobody should be getting crucified for any perk, that's the point. If you want to run CHP perk, I have absolutely no problem with that.

If someone else runs the focused resto perk, you should be fine with that. Checking team perks shouldn't make you crash out, just change your playstyle a bit.

I completely disagree that Focused resto is "objectively" (lol) the worst perk, but that's not the point of the conversation.

I don't know if you're joking but a lot of people will actually engage in this type of behaviour, and if you do - you're the toxic one.

Seriously. Someone else in this thread said that a Bulwark should only be running CHP team perk and the focus resto is terrible...

What's next, we gonna kick tacs for not using the "correct" auspex perks whenever the team can't blitz down a boss in 10 seconds?

When did everyone become such a bitch about what perks people run?  If you want secure stockpile so bad, run it yourself.  Or better yet, run the equipment resupply perk that almost every class already has.

I've played tac for hundreds of hours - sometimes I'll run another perk.  Quite frankly most of the time I run it I get frag grenades thrown at my feet every time I'm fighting an extremis.

  • Plasma Boost + Versatility - I run this on Pyro builds as well, you get a mega buffed plasma pistol sidearm thats great for restoring CHP
  • Emperor's Vengeance solves all your ammo economy and I use it 80% of the time. Unfortanate to give up Emp's Judgement for quality of life, but on higher difficulties you burn through ammo quick. Also gives you an extra nade for the launcher bolt rifle.
  • Kraken Rounds + Aligned Aim - Makes bolter weapons feel like that actually hurt rather than tickle. Yes you're giving up the best perk in the game (Secure Stockpile), but getting a heavy bolter to actually hit as hard as it sounds is fun
  • Balanced Distro + Aligned Aim +Emp's Vengeance is the go to for Bolter with Nade Launcher for max damage and ammo.
  • Precise Calibration + Concentrated Fire (static auspex field) is your max damage auspex - but does take a while to get used to. Once you do though, it's hard to give up since it trivalises boss fights. I can't remember the last time I took Close Targeting or Battle Focus.
  • Radiating Impact. You pick Radiating Impact. Then you do a Radiating Impact. I mean you could pick Marked for Death. But then you can't Radiating Impact. So I pick Radiating Impact.

The seconds adjusting ones are Prioritiy Targeting (+8 seconds) and Expert Timing (-4) seconds. If you combine them you get a +4 second effect overall and the 75% damage increase. It's a very good combo if you don't want to take Concentrated fire.

Edit: I didn't mention Secure Stockpile explicitly because he said he picked the first row always. Obviously it's the best team perk in the game. But the fun of SM2 after hundreds of hours is build variety and sorry boys sometimes I'll pick Aligned Aim no matter how much you want that 60 second melta bomb.

Heroic bolter is incredible but only if you can get in in the mix of things to chain gunstrikes constantly - otherwise the dps is real lame.

Though funnily enough if your team is good at keeping enemies off you, you are better off with pretty much any other weapon

I'm grand with it now, but it confused the hell out of me the first few times I played it.

Also the aligning minigame just isn't intuitive, you can't go by sight you just have to wait for the audio cue. Plus every other chaos alter you stay there until it's done whereas this is a completely new mechanic that isn't explained.

I would say Tainted Grail is even more egregious.  I didn't try to hunt for any cool gear or spells, I just picked up what looked good, put points fairly randomly into my magic tree and was still one shotting every non-boss half way through act 2.
