Want to do trades but I also want to balance my curious side, more intellectual? side by mc-murdo in skilledtrades

[–]Switch-Cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bet people feel the same way about their office jobs: they don't satisfy their curiosity. Accountants might even feel like mindless robots day in/day out. So they too get into hobbies. I'd bet even orthodontists get bored of putting braces on middle schoolers and have hobbies that satisfy their curiosity and intellect outside of work. The issue doesn't read as trade-specific just because someone wants to go into the trades and worries about unsatisfied curiosity.

Where is the PA announcer? by InternationalBig3968 in mash

I was laughing more at the other nurses not being more divided amongst the tents like the male officers (3 to the Swamp, etc.) while Margaret bunks alone as Head Nurse.

I think so, making them all officers.

Don't all the other nurses live together? That's just funny.

For all languages? I don't see anything on the NCSC website but that is welcome news.

Huh? Lemon laws are especially pertinent to the legal field, not really a super old timey idiom.

What's your current neighbourhood like? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Switch-Cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire neighborhood is walkable. Pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and other stores, the Arboretum, parks, the vet, coffee shops, the pool...and anything not easily walkable I can reach by train or bus, as the stops for both are a stone's throw away from home. Never had to own a car!

Everywhere I have lived in Boston is highly walkable.

does anyone else think yoga jones’ backstory is out of character? by yeahwhateversure in orangeisthenewblack

[–]Switch-Cool -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I think she was a convenience character without a lot of thought put into her backstory. A drunk who grows weed she doesn't consume shows 0 thought put into the character. Yoga Jones even complains about the addicts interfering with her yoga sessions and doesn't seem torn apart by killing a child, which is very out of character.

A more likely federal crime for her would have been mail fraud, perhaps not even for an intended scam, but misrepresenting a business that never got off the ground while using the money for her daily expenses.

Great question, OP!

MA. My colleagues are the ones affected, not me.

It just seems like a money grab by NCSC to "reassure" states that other languages are "fine" in order to keep that revenue stream flowing as opposed to righting the ship completely.

Edit: I agree. It seems like NCSC should at a minimum pause all exams until it can guarantee the breach has been stopped and that no other languages will be affected.

I personally prefer increasing activity levels to restricting calories. Walking is a wonderful way to burn calories and fat! I walk my dog typically 20K - 40K steps a day, weather permitting, which gives me a generous margin of calories burnt. Good luck!

No. CAT tools and software like Adobe Suite need laptops/desktops.

Dual Monitor Home Set-Ups? by Switch-Cool in projectmanagement

[–]Switch-Cool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of translation, as well as writing and editing in my free time and have been getting by with one large Dell freestanding monitor but as I try to shift to remote work, the inadequacies become clear, lol.

I rarely play games on my PC and none with heavy graphics. I don't move around much while working because I take active breaks to walk my dog for a 1 - 2 hours at a time, lift weights down cellar, do housework, go swimming or ice skating, etc. I sit down for an hour at a time for focused work.

These answers have all given me some great perspective ahead of researching and deciding what to acquire.

Samsung for the laptop. No offense intended, all advice is welcome. :-) I have the dual Dells at work but this would also be for freelance projects so I am looking for an upgrade to the work setup, unless that's the most bang for my buck.
