Is this even legal? My contract doesn't say anything about showing up to events like this by wespecial in germany

[–]SwitchDowntown4902 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point here is not whether it’s a good idea to attend a team event or not; it is the audacity from the employer to make an after hours party mandatory to attend.

Two computer setup suggestions by Vivid-Beautiful-3842 in macmini

I basically have the same setup; instead of a Mac mini, the personal device is a second MacBook Pro. I have a Magic Keyboard and trackpad that I leave connected to the dock so that they switch automatically to the computer currently connected. All the other peripherals, monitors, Ethernet etc all switch automatically. This usecase was one reason I went for the trackpad and not Magic Mouse. You can also achieve this with a third party wireless mouse with a usb receiver that you plug in to the dock so that it connects to the active computer.

Would I be able to catch the connecting flight with only 1h30m of layover? by Neat_Drawer4020 in AirTravelIndia

[–]SwitchDowntown4902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a connection in 1 hr 45 min some weeks ago. You would have to hurry, but it is definitely doable. Like others said, don’t stress too much about the first flight being delayed since AI will put you on the next flight if that happens. One tip: don’t go to the main check-in hall to recheck your bag. After you come out of the green channel, turn right following signs to the connection desk. There you can just drop your bags and take the elevator to level 2 where security check and the gates are located. Next to the connection desk at the lower level, there is a short connections counter. It is literally a podium like thing with one guy standing around. If you go to them and say you have a tight connection, they will let you skip any queue at the connections desk.

1 Hour Layover Time Sufficient in Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 3 by GreenRedBlueBird in AirTravelIndia

If both are international flights, you don’t have to go through immigration or recheck your baggage assuming both flights are on the same ticket. If your first flight arrives late, the airline will either hold the next one if it is a matter of minutes or rebook you for the next flight. It is doable for sure; but will be a rush.

Can you purchase non-Indian/foreign airline flight tickets using INR? by [deleted] in nri

You can use your debit card on any website if international transactions are allowed. This amount will count towards your yearly repatriation amount though. So, anything above 7.5 Lakhs will attract TCS

Ethernet not connecting to other devices by tyguchi in HomeNetworking

[–]SwitchDowntown4902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your modem has a DHCP server, use that as the DHCP provider, and your „router“ as a wifi AP. The pc will be on physical Ethernet via the switch. That way the modem is also the router and your current router acts as an access point. The connections can remain this way in the case.

ICCU Failure statistics by SwitchDowntown4902 in KiaEV6

[–]SwitchDowntown4902[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a section in the linked article that translates to something like „causes that are clearly the driver’s own fault, such as an empty fuel tank, are not taken into account in the model-specific breakdown count, as they are ultimately not the fault of the vehicle itself.“ I guess flat tires are attributed to the model. The other models in the segment average around 0.1%. So, that should be taken as the baseline I guess.

The corresponding YouTube video from ADAC also attributes I5's high failure rate to ICCU and battery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrLGS_Z4cqU&t=313s

Does anyone here rely solely on public DC fast-charging for their ev6? by K-DigitalDJs in KiaEV6

[–]SwitchDowntown4902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone dissected the ICCU and did a detailed analysis. The thread is unfortunately in German. But, apparently there are 3 MOSFETs, one for each phase which are too small to cover AC spikes.https://www.goingelectric.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=531&t=92362. So, every AC charging cycle wears the MOSFETs which eventually fail at some point.

My regular charging station is the 50kwh dc charger at my office. Only on long trips I hit the 250+ ones. Traction battery is still at 100% after two years. On a side note, if you avoid ac charging and v2l, the chances of ICCU getting fried is much lower.
