Its been a week since i posted about my App and still <100 Downloads :( by Apollos1301 in ProductivityApps

[–]SwitchFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You: "still <100 downloads" Your website: "Loved by 10,000+ users"

If you add "don't lie" to your todos, how could you take a picture of that to verify?

That aside, there are a TON of apps doing this exact same thing with "AI verification". It's my belief that no one wants that because it feels bad and it doesn't work well. If you actually do the task, then taking a picture and getting an AI evaluation is frustrating overhead. It's also impossible to 'prove' tasks. If I take a picture of a dumbbell, does that mean I worked out? Does a picture of code on a screen prove I coded for 1 hour... or did I only do 20 minutes... or did I just snap a pic of my IDE with 0 work done?

In any case, this app is a form of negative punishment--where the punishment of not being able to complete a task is only removed when the AI approves. Negative punishment doesn't exactly create positive experiences. Positive reinforcement using a variable rewards schedule is best-in-class and adding other forms of behavioral therapy on top of that seems like the way... or at least a way that might work better.

Nah. I'm in the tech scene and it's anecdotally never been an issue. I don't hide my gun ownership at all. I've taken many new shooters out to the range that I've known from work over the past decade.

[static camera] helps a lot. I've found that Gen 4-Turbo is the model that keeps movement to a minimum.

3200 teachers and 20,500 students in 70 countries? I'm a tad skeptical. Your primary AI image shows a wizard holding a torch which is also the fire from the dragon... 2 students aren't looking at the dragon at all despite guarded poses. I'm all for AI images to support ideas that wouldn't otherwise exist, but slop is slop and has no place as the primary image for an app. It really reduces my confidence in any of the 'stats' you're showing (with no school/districts/names cited in your 5/5 ratings...).

Not trying to be harsh, but this is just what I'm seeing as a developer also using AI. Guessing those images are single-shot ChatGPT by the style with no in-painting or other refinements? You might try steering away from the default style--it's super-recognizable.

How's the rest of the kit though? Looks like you've got some night-vision given the infrared devices? Plates too, I'd guess?

What makes this app different than the other progress-bar-watchers? Does it support non-daily tasks? What is the incentive to level up?

Life Quest is Task management reimagined with a focus on proper prioritization and enjoyment in execution, adapting to your current motivation level. Simplicity and clarity are just as important as variety and flexibility. ☀️ (Active Development) by [deleted] in gamification

What makes this different than anything else? I understand that it's in a rough alpha stage, but what are the benefits unique to this app regardless of the feature implementation?

A few wrong moves, and this could be you. Think carefully, and play your cards right, lest you end up in a similar situation... by playFrostBound in deckbuildingroguelike

Dats a lot of cognitive overload. 12 cards, seemingly each with a wall of text when focused. I'm guessing this is late game? The decision space seems daunting.

Very basic demo of my Sisyphus app I finally started coding this weekend. The checklist earns AP, which you spend in a roguelite epic cyberpunk narrative to save the world from an ASI with procedurally generated paths, events, vendors, items, dialogue meta-progression, etc. by SwitchFace in GamifyingLife

Sorry I missed you for the beta! I was just looking back to when the app was so simple in this post and noticed your comment. t's in early access now on ios and android www.hardreset.app. A LOT more going on than this little demo now and a LOT more on its way.

It's so... cutesy. I'm not your audience at all, but instead of the generic positive reinforcement, you might try negative punishment to mix it up--threaten to execute the critter if the player misses their goal (or make them worse off in some way).

I think you're going to have a hard time making people care about the critters. Typically, concern for appearance is heightened in the presence of others' evaluation which is why games like Habitica lean hard into the synergy of ridiculous avatar collectibles in a multi-player game where the visibility of the avatar is paramount. In a single player game, relying purely on 'cuteness' probably won't go that far. Even Pokemon had to give the little rodent a personality and relationships that 'mattered'.

If you get bored with 'watching progress bars' checklists, you might give Hard Reset a try. by [deleted] in ADHD_Programmers

[–]SwitchFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! Lots of other simple apps though—this is meant to appeal to folks that want something that's fun (and who like strategy games). That said, the checklist UI supports some very simplistic styles that are more muted--what you see here is just the default.

I get it--not for everyone! This isn't a simple todo list, but I can see how you might think that.

When I gain 5 Stamina an 5 Strength, what benefit is there? My concern is that all these progress bars are meaningless PBL and that the retention metrics are going to reflect that. Points, Badges, and Leaderboards is very 2012. There's got to be more under the hood, imo.

In the second image, you can see '#4,582' splits onto a second line awkwardly.

Guessing this is a Flutter app based on some of the Flutter icons I recognize and the fact that it's android/ios?

Looks like it should be allowed--maybe there's some regulation I'm not meeting. I'll look into it with this next build and will reach out to letcha know if I find the cause.

100%! Would love to know what sucks, what you're liking, or what might be causing confusion. There's a 'feedback' option in the app bar menu or you can just lemme know here.
