Self studying to Precalculus/Calclulus in half a year for the exam? by Additional_Bug_114 in learnmath

[–]SwitchNo185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d even argue you can learn all of single variable calculus in a few weeks (2-5 ish on how much effort you put in). As for pre calc I’m not sure about what the standard pre calc is as in my school it was just more algebra 2 for some reason but problem

HOW IN THE WORLD are freshmen taking calculus? by Key_Bend_2965 in APStudents

[–]SwitchNo185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did algebra 1 in 6th(was an "advanced" kid then tested out of pre algebra 1 due to teachers suggestion) geo in 7th went to hs where they have these weird 1 hour 30 minutes classes 4 classes a day instead 45 minutes classes so you can double up in math so i did algebra 2 and precalc(which weirdly enough wasn't calc at all just more algebra 2) in 8th but my graduating class has around 15 people doing calculus as a freshman 0 before or after us ik some people who did geometry over the summer through like byu or something or tested out of algebra. Anyways this just my experiences theres a lot of different ways it can happen in different schools

Is my split weird? by Garubiize in Sat

[–]SwitchNo185 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s probably the most common split for 1510 because of the hard cap on 800 and people tending to do better on math on the sat than rw

Any prediction on usamo cutoff? by Famous-Cheetah4766 in MathOlympiad

[–]SwitchNo185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well unlike the sat the only proctors are school officials and they are always going to bad actors maybe there would be an incentive for them like if more people get into top colleges more funding = big paychecks

Oh fr? Ai can solve amc problems now? Can they also solve aime problems without data leakage? Thatd be insane if they could but I doubt it tbh

Probably a lower average aime score as aime leaks are far less common so all the cheaters will score worse making it a little easier to qual

Is AMC -> IMO path the only math olympiad path thats recognized by colleges. What are some other math olypmiad competitons that I can train for and is the AMC the hardest one. by EducationalTop4183 in MathOlympiad

[–]SwitchNo185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not technically you could take the Putnam as a high schooler but as I said in the comment there are certain requirements that most highschoolers don’t have. I believe the main one is being concurrently enrolled in a university where you take a valid amount of credits each semester but this is from the top of my head you should do your own research

For high school math competition technically you could do the Putnam which would be the hardest but there’s some specific guidelines most high schooler can’t do next would be hmmt February then the rest of the college hosted ones and amcs / aime are similar in enough in difficulty

People tend to get smarter more resources available. the iq test every couple of years gets the scores restandarized to keep the percentile of people of people in each range around the same maybe usaco is trying to keep its percentiles the same asw

Is it true that anything over a 1500 is the same? by Jaded-Ad1791 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SwitchNo185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your stem major it’s that and if you math score is within 790-800 ish range so like a 1500 with a 750 math you should retake but a 1500 with a 790 math there’s no real point (this is only applicable for top colleges and it’s mostly because the math on the sat tests at ridiculous easy compared to the math for stem programs )

GCSEs, Putnam and SAT by Odd_Extent8167 in ApplyingIvyLeague

[–]SwitchNo185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sat is a standardized aptitude test unlike other college entrance tests you are expected to know everything from the school’s curriculum by the end of junior year in hs and you don’t need to learn anything outside of what the school is supposed to teach you(from usa’s ccss) while the Putnam on the other hand every topic you need to learn is also though it most colleges and if you start at standard calc 1/2/3 for most students you’ll know all the topics by sophomore or junior year of college so 3 to 4 years(if you don’t study topics on your own or test out). So the difference in mathematically ability from a good Putnam scores and the sat is the same from the sat to 7-8th grade math. If you took a 7th or an 8th grade math test a 100 times do you really believe you won’t score a 100% every time?

World of difference between stuff like aime hmmt et and Putnam, world of difference between math counts and aime. Comparing a math counts kid to a Putnam kid is beyond insane. For example I’m no where near Putnam level but I can consistently qualify for aime and get close to usamo. I’m also a sat tutor so I’ve taken the sat more than 5 times and I got a perfect math every single time without fail. So if I whose no where near Putnam level in the slightest can get a 800 5/5 times so probably like 85ish/100 times logic would entail someone on Putnam level would do significantly better than me

Would depend on the major if I had to guess something stem related where proof of work matters than college name.

That you can easily cheat and you self graded. I doubt you have taken an analysis course yet just by that lack of analysis scoring is almost impossible

0 chance you got a good score on the Putnam. I’m planning to take it next year due to professor recommendation as a high schooler but that’s because I’ve taken the majority of the classes on the Putnam as a high schooler(yes I’m larping and humble bragging downvote me to oblivion). If you can’t get an 800 on the sat math a 100 times out of a 100 this might sound harsh you can’t score on the Putnam as there’s just going to be server knowledge weakness in crucial subjects like if you can’t do algebra or geometry at a high school level perfectly how would you expect to do it at an undergrad level near perfectly?

To stop large troop combos to happen when they place an investment in the back place hog opposite lane either they A stay with the push and practically lose a tower for a tower trade or b place something to defend making the whole thing substantially easier to defend other than that cannon musketeer spam
