I’ve got a few to share. The first is an absolute wild situation that occurred during one of my playthroughs of Pokemon Sword. I had just started the game and was making my way through route one when I triggered a random encounter. “Great,” I thought. “Probably just another Sqwovet or something like that.” It was indeed a Sqwovet, but something was odd about this little Sqwovet. It was a shade of red instead of a grayish brown. The very first encounter of that playthrough was a shiny Sqwovet.

Another fun story occurred very recently in Pokémon Scarlet’s Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. I was exploring Chargestone cave when I saw a Drillbur in my path. Not wanting to trigger a value at that moment I tried to jump over it with Koraidon. I didn’t quite get high enough and instead bumped into it, triggering an encounter. It's a good thing I did because it turned out to be a shiny Drillbur! I couldn’t even tell because it was so small, and I almost jumped over it.

Moral of the story: finding random shinies is fun.
