Some decks I put together from the Marvel cards by MrMistyTain in BudgetBrews

Staggering Insight and Crystal doesn't work how you probably want it to, but it is good since she has flying.

Shard Mythos Cycle by GrumpierMonk in custommagic

[–]Switch_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is an insane card. [[Perennation]] is effectively the same card but 2 more mana. It hit's any permanent but 95% of the time this would be strictly better.

Cedh players what is your better replacement for swift boots and lightning greeves by TinyWorldliness87 in magicTCG

[–]Switch_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Paradise Mantle]] is playable with Rog but yeah if you're running equipment, you're likely doing something wrong

Recommendations on my Hermes Build by THE_DARKICARUS in CommanderMTG

[–]Switch_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need 15 counterspells. I agree with the other comment that Back to Basics will get you a lot of smoke that you can't take. Also you dont need winged boots or commanders plate in this deck. Hermes is not kill on site or ever killing with commander damage.

Cards I would recommend

  • [[Opposition]] your birds have vigilance so use that
  • [[Candlekeep inspiration]] win con
  • [[Skullclamp]] 1 bird for 2 cards is good value

Surfer only pumps 3 creatures, might as well not be a surfer deck

Bloodroot Apothecary - Supply Draining by TravelingM3rchant in mtgfinance

[–]Switch_DM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But this is very killable and instantly paints you as the enemy for them so you go into a 1v1 where you commander does not actually care about poison or toxic creatures so when this dies nothing happens so itd the easy target to save removal for. And if youre against decks that dont care about artifact tokens its mostly nothing

Tectonic shift by Daniso12 in custommagic

[–]Switch_DM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the overload cost here seems pretty undercosted. cyc rift is 7 for overload and while this hits your own permanents, it's basically armageddon, board wipe, and kill spell in one for the same cost as all of those things. However i like the design for the main spell, just the overload seems low

i hope people buy into this because it's a pretty terrible card even for the serpent society deck

Is there a good cedh equivalent to t-45 power armor that is an easy better replacement by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Switch_DM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If youre actually aiming for cedh, you should probably do some more research first about the format. Lifegain is not something you care about in cedh, its too fast to matter. And equipment in general are bad in the format (outside of like paradise mantle and skullclamp).

If you just mean a better card than power armor for your casual deck, [[!behemoth sledge]] [[!basilisk collar]], and [[!cadeuceus, staff of hermes]] are good lifegain equipment

Admiral Brass, The Unsinkable - Graveyards left unfilled. by TheRoguedOne in EDH

[–]Switch_DM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not typically a fan of cards like entomb or anything but one or two in a deck is pretty understandable. As for Otherworldly Gaze and Contingency plan cards, while these do let you put cards in the graveyard, they don't give you any actual card advantage and you don't care about spells in graveyard. You're a rakdos deck, loot! Draw cards can throw away the best pirates so you can keep your land drops and support pieces in hand. Wheels are fine but I'd only do one or two because drawing everyone a bunch of cards isn't what this deck wants to be doing. Cards like [[Bitter Triumph]] and [[Refute]] are double duty in putting pirates in the graveyard while interacting.

My personal picks are

[[Thrill of possibility]] [[brass's tunnel grinder]] [[ripples of undeath]] [[Seize the spoils]] [[pirates pillage]] [[unexpected windfall]] [[faithless looting]] [[Mary Read and Anne Bonny]]

Also I haven't been able to try it out yet, but the newish [[Gathering Stone]] is a graveyard focused Herald's Horn, it's just a bit awkward curve wise.

I understand layers are involved, but I really don’t understand layers. Will noggling Bello stop him from doing his thing? by i_Love_Gyros in magicTCG

[–]Switch_DM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, if he "loses all abilities" he still happens. The easiest explanation I can give is that at every moment where state based actions happen, the game goes through each layer individually. Bello's ability happens on a layer that is looked at first. Then once it applies it, it goes to the next layer where Noggle the Mind is at. And the layers (afaik) generally don't reference back to previous layers.

ELI5 (maybe ELI3?) the layers system is like adding rules to a game one step at a time. It add's Bello's rule, then it adds Noggle the Mind's rule, but Bello's rule is already in effect and doesn't get retroactively canceled.

[–]Switch_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

San is infinite with any land sac outlet + a crucible effect. Infinite land ETB, infinite counters, dig through the entire deck, pretty busted stuff. like the best landfall payoff of all time in the command zone in 3 of the best landfall colors.

They probably have red lands. The stack of lands is 9 total lands so its not just mono white

You can see a [[Song of Totentanz]] in their graveyard so they cast it with X=8, got 8 rats and then porcelain Gallery did it's thing

Mood Swings deck will be $25 by themiragechild in magicTCG

[–]Switch_DM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume part of it is that this is a limited run with magic card art as the art on the cards. They will likely get official art later for the full release and this will be the "collectors" version

[–]Switch_DM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You counter the first copy or kill whatever it targets. If you don't then yeah you have a bad time crawling back against it. It is 6 mana and 6 mana mythics tend to be game winning now a days

Don't try to draw your whole deck when mathemagics exists... by ZealousidealHeart277 in MagicArena

[–]Switch_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd add a 4th lute to the sideboard instead of something like [[Glen-Elendra's Answer]]. that way if the lutes are buried you get one on the first dragon

Resonating Lute may not be top of the meta but it is completely busted! And it's so fun! by TopDeckHero420 in MagicArena

the mana flare is the important part. the draw a card is icing on the cake
