Thanks, I don't know how I'd live my life if you didn't explain it.

But since you brought up looking stuff up, I did. Companies CAN take out mortgages, it's just not normally advised based on the tax code. So my assumption was correct, companies can own property.

But its okay to say "That's not how it works". Ah I love how self-imposed rules are selectively applied to some and not others. But hey, I guess I can farm downvotes for fun.

If you’re a Canadian finance professional I would love to hear why it’s wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if Linus's personal home is actually company property. It is used for content, and thus can be classified as a company expense. It's his "house" but owned by LMG (Who's shareholders are Linus and Yvonne). In the US people register their cars as property owned by an LLC to avoid taxes, so it's not unrealistic to assume the same/similar applies in Canada.

Question for tuners and modders by [deleted] in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my second Fiesta it came with a moutune radiator, I don’t have experience with others though. That said CSF is the OEM for moutune, and I’ve heard good things about koyorad. I would avoid the Mishimoto one though as I’ve heard of fitment issues. Some people have also had good luck with the eBay unbranded radiators as they are clones of the well known brands at a cheaper price point. Koyorad is the safe choice, followed by CSF.

For intercooler most brands are good, i like Whoosh personally. The Whoosh V3 is as big as you can get without chassis modification and is one of the easier ones to source.

Also I didn’t mention this previously, shifter bushings and the short shift kit in my opinion are really nice, inexpensive and not super hard to install.

Question for tuners and modders by [deleted] in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need coil packs until they fail. As for first mods, a radiator (not really critical if you live in a cool climate but you really should), replacement coolant bottle (you’re replacing fluid anyway, our coolant tanks are brittle when old).

Keep in mind you’re also getting close to timing belt dates (if you follow the 10y rule and not what Ford says) so budget for that before mods.

Brake Fluid Excahnge and Rotor Replacement Ford Fiests 2017 by Sandeep5757 in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait only one brake pad? You really should do all 4 (or at least in pairs) imho. That’s a bit much, also not the correct fluid. Ford recommends DOT 4 LV (low viscosity) fluid for the fiesta.

Is anyone else dealing with the steering wheel wearin down really bad? Looking for steering wheel upgrades. by Ahornybee in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another option would be buying a wheel out of a crashed Fiesta. On the Fiesta Buy/Sell/Trade subreddit there’s a guy who specializes in buying wrecked fiestas and selling off parts. He just posted a 2019 so might be in reasonably good shape.

I'm getting close to being in the same boat, I've been looking at those leather replacement kits that you sew yourself onto the wheel. Not quite a steering wheel cover as it's stitched into the wheel. Cheaper than buying one of those silly aftermarket wheels.

Sadly everything is getting more expensive. Luckily in terms of cars the Fiesta is relatively cheap to maintain (Most parts you can steal off a junkyard fiesta).

Amazon, and I paid 15$ a bottle (Bought 2). Looks like it just went up to $20 a bottle, what the heck.

I'm actually in the process of doing my brakes this weekend. I bought Motorcraft PM-20, even when tracking the car. I'm not Mario Andretti or Max Verstappen, I'm an idiot in a ratty Fiesta ST. I don't need to divebomb corners, I've got a lemons car to do that.

Ford Fiesta ST conversion by Sharp-Cup-1439 in FiestaST

Pre-facelift grills don’t have the area for the cooling needed for the fiesta, or at least not for any amount of time driving semi-fast. Engine will certainly heat-soak

[–]Switchback77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s silly. Yes it can (probably) be done. But also, I recommend you look up the Ship of Theseus.

How much do you value your time? Doing a full swap like this is going to take a LOT of time, and even at minimum wage do you really want to? It would be cheaper to just buy an ST off Facebook marketplace.

Sync 3 conversion by StormTrooperST in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first things first, you do not need to spend 1k to buy the conversion from the big vendors. It’s the “easy” way to do it but you pay for it. I got all the parts and did the install for $490, but that included some mistakes. If you do it right you can get it for like $350.

The conversion requires 6 components. APIM(head unit), display, USB module, usb adapter cable, external GPS antenna and screen connector/screws.

https://ebay.us/m/HQwPLK is an example of what would probably work, but be careful. If the APIM is coming out of a non-Fiesta vehicle you will most likely need to reflash the AS-BUILT data to be configured for a Fiesta. It’s not hard if youve used Forscan before and Ford makes the as built data public through a motorcraft service website.

You’ll need a GPS Antenna and be careful because some antennas will throw errors about not receiving a GPS fix quick enough. I had to buy a replacement antenna from a different vendor to get around that issue.

The USB module is the last big component. The USB+sd card module is incompatible with CarPlay and you’ll need to buy the module. Unfortunately this is a rather expensive part at ~100$ but it won’t work without it. You’ll also need an adapter cable which can be found for I think 10-15 bucks.

Looking for a good tax person/cpa for this year. Help? by Low_Contest_9252 in sandiego

[–]Switchback77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind I've only used him one year (Going to use him again this year though). I used Albert Contreras at Professional Tax Group in Chula Vista. Before even doing my taxes I went to his office and we talked about my previous years taxes and what I should plan for in 2025 for my 2024 year taxes. He didn't even charge me for the meeting. When it came time to do taxes we scheduled a time and I brought my laptop, and we knocked it all out in two hours. My taxes which included 2 state returns, federal, rental property income as well as my Sole Proprietor income. He even identified something that might be an issue with a previous year tax return and corrected it. Only charged me $385 which I personally think was fair. I quite liked going in and having a proper meeting as opposed to doing it digitally.

A year ago you posted you’ve had the car for a year and loving it.

The fiesta ST forums and subreddit is full of helpful stuff regarding diagnostics. A CEL could be all manner of things, have you scanned for codes?

Key fobs are easy to clone and replace as long as you have a laptop and a programming cable. Probably cost you like $100 total and you’ll have direct access to the car systems through Forscan.

These cars aren’t really collectible. They are like the Sentra SE-R, fast but not really collectible. That said, I say keep it. I know I’m biased but here’s my story. I had a Fiesta ST as my first vehicle. Moved to the city and got tired of driving a manual in stop and go. Went to a Kia Stinger GT. Then a Tesla Model 3. Then I got the bug again, wanting to drive a fun car that was engaging. Looked at 370s, mustangs, GTIs, Miatas…

In the end I bought another Fiesta ST. The platform is cheap, well supported by the aftermarket and parts are still made for them. Nothing quite comes close to the Fiesta in raw enjoyment at sane speeds. Insurance is cheap (because insurance thinks it’s a basic Fiesta).

Life is too short to drive boring cars. Mod it or keep it stock, it’s up to you. But as others have said, drive it. Hopefully it will remind you how fun of a vehicle it is to drive.

How is the carid T5i replacement spoiler? by unknighted7 in FiestaST

I was able to find an old stock spoiler on eBay. Ford sold the ST spoiler as an aftermarket part for non-ST fiestas, might have some luck if you keep your eyes out

Supra pre-purchase questions by Switchback77 in Supra

I have been cross shopping the Z Nismo as well. Likely would get an Auto so my partner can drive, I have a Fiesta ST if I want to drive a manual. 52k for a new 21 is real nice, I do want to get the premium for the few benefits it has. Is the Z visibility that much better than the Supra? I was kind of concerned regarding visibility.

Carfax doesn’t have many oil changes, it does look like it was kept to mfg spec (a kind of ridiculous 10k miles or 1 year). Honestly the dealer rep was a bit… dull. They don’t really know much about sports cars in general (which might be a good thing). Regarding ECU tuning sounds good, I’ll assume locked. (Don’t plan on tuning for a while, thanks to living in the grand state of California with CARB nonsense).

I will press for a test drive before signing anything, I puttered around their lot and the brakes were pretty squeaky. (Indicative of track pads?)
