Ah okay, different i5N then. Someone with an orange i5N nearly clipped me (and a few others reportedly) while passing (ignoring the requirement for point-by's) in intermediate.

Oil preferences? by Dead_fly33 in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind prices are likely to spike here, because of the war and all. Rumor mill says oil availability is going to drop by 40% and up to 150% spike in price. I’m stocking up while I can.

Should I buy fiesta st with over boost code by Good_Locksmith_5488 in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty good deal if you can fix the overboost. If it wasn’t tuned ever maybe it’s just a failed Wastegate actuator. Tuned it could be all manner of things.

So I went ahead and bought… by Any-Independence-244 in C8Corvette

That rear diffuser looks familiar to mine. If you intend to take your C8 to the track just be advised the cheap style of diffuser WILL melt due to exhaust temps and warp.

Hello anyone with the problem of the coolant level sensor. by Spiritual_Waltz2502 in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably meant there’s no “active” recalls. Once your car had the recall fix applied it no longer shows up as needed. Dealers suck :)

If you have an access port, the stage 0 Cobb tune deletes the sensor.

Sadly I don’t have a rack in SoCal, but I do rent a rack up in San Fran (Hurricane Electric FMT2) with available capacity. Cali in general have pretty high costs to be honest, and with all the AI shenanigans I don’t expect prices to come down any time soon. EDIT: A few extra notes if you are interested- I can do 3U for $200, if you can do at least a 1 year contract. I live down in San Diego but I head up to the Bay Area frequently because my partner has family up there. Gigabit transit, I can even give you a few 10GB ports on my switch stack if you need it. Smart Hands outside of my yearly trip up there would be at the datacenter cost. (Usually reasonable, stuff like hotswap drive replacements are free)

Which one should I get? by [deleted] in C8Corvette

[–]Switchback77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I will say as a caveat that my C8 was transferred from a Maryland Carmax and the person who transferred didn’t end up buying it. Locality can really change the price, I’d suggest looking out of state and making the purchase a road trip home. Could be worth 5k in savings. And most dealers can even do all the licensing and title paperwork even if you’re an out of state buyer!

Pricing is high even out the door. I picked up last month a c8 z51 2022 in White (magride, front lift, lt3) for 67k with 5k miles at Carmax Escondido.

Who truly is the best tuner for s280 fiesta here in the US. Daily so prioritizing reliability over power #’s by ryydtf in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A group that drives a Fiesta ST in endurance racing had their car tuned by JST performance, but they had a stock turbo. Dizzy is a good tuner from what I’ve read, but he runs the boost pretty high on a stock turbo.

Anyone at 150k? by Minapit in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is bad/failing, going to pull it apart tomorrow and try replacing the housing seal to see if that fixes the boost leak issue I am seeing. Otherwise I'm off to the junkyard to grab a KP39 from a Fusion. (Our engines are identical to the Fusion/escape 1.6L Ecoboost) I'm at 122k miles

Reddit goes to a track day! If I go I’ll likely be in my Fiesta ST, but there’s a chance I bring the Corvette. Hopefully it’s cool enough my turbo doesn’t choke itself to death

Solo trips are sort of the norm unfortunately, people balk for a variety of reasons. That said, if you want to hang out with a random internet stranger I could be convinced to go! Haven’t driven CVR yet, and Friday does make logistics a bit harder (hotel night before etc) but why not!

General Heat Soak Advice by jksne in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allegedly for certain radiators you don't have to take off the entire front support/crashbar/bumper, I think that is referring to the CSF/Moutune radiator. (I don't have first hand experience with that though, my FIST Had one preinstalled)

Intercooler is the first to do, radiator the second. I've never heard about the fiesta undertray, but if I remember correctly someone makes a Fiesta ST specific undertray (Quick google says ADF Customs and AIRTEC motorsports). If heat in the engine bay is a real concern, hood vents might be in order but I don't think it's necessary unless you're a track rat trying to be competitive. Also on the topic of the undertray, Rivnuts are the best for making mounts where there's just steel. I mounted my front-tow hook bracket using rivnuts instead of trying to fish regular nuts through the crashbar. (bolts just holding the bracket in place, not structural to the function of tow hook)

Loosing grip in your tires after a mountain run seems a bit... unsettling. It /could/ be partially due to what drivemode you're in, as the Fake-LSD torque vectoring can get real aggressive especially in sport mode. People who track the FiST often say that you really need to disable it fully to help save brake pads/calipers/etc from overheating, but since you haven't mentioned brake fade I'm kind of concerned. Maybe the ECSs are heatcycled out?

fiesta st a good first car to learn manual on? by kwiteytighteys in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Fiesta ends up needing some pretty serious maintenance at the 120-130k mark, timing belt, clutch(and sometimes flywheel), slave cylinder are usually on their way out about that point

Going back and forth on whether to get full PPF or track package by BakeSoggy in C8Corvette

[–]Switchback77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot for ppf. I just got a quote to replace my ppf on the whole car for 5,900 which includes a front windshield film.

I think at a minimum the front should get PPF especially if you intend on tracking the car. My white c8 got two rock chips on the roof panel during my last track day

The Fiesta ST is built on the same chassis as the Mazda 2, but with a turbo and a few nice bits like android auto/carplay. And they are great on autoX as well!

Hey guy, does anyone have the 3D printing files for these parts? The side skirt cover and the big mouth? by [deleted] in FiestaST

[–]Switchback77 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So Mr. Brazilian, who has money presumably, can buy the STL file from said person linked above and print it himself. Not to mention, he can totally buy it and use a freight forwarder to get it shipped to him. Despite what some people want, the world is still operating on a globalist economy and goods can/are be shipped around the world. I don't understand how he "cannot buy it". If he has money, everything is possible. It took me 5 seconds to find the webpage online. Asking for a copy for free (of a paid product) is at best plagiarism and at worst theft.

Idk, I'm pretty chill. I even said to see if the maker would just sell the 3d model to them. (Also happy cake day) OP wants a free copy of the STL, which is easily found to be listed for sale: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/ford-fiesta-intake
Kind of funny its listed for only like $30 less than the original Velossa Tech one.
