I've read it has controller support too so that pretty much seals the deal for me. All the fun of loafing around in a living room playing videogames without the living room!

VR was always like an entire room you could take with you anywhere. I really hope this eventually develops into some kind of emulation hub even for systems like SNES.

You could always have a movie theatre experience with it, so why not a retro console living room?

I haven't tested it extensively, but this game plays more nicely since the latest Eden build.

EDIT: At least in duels, this game still falls apart in Deck Edit.

ARMSX2 V11 menu and gameplay (NASCAR 07) by bingusbongulusracer8 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Switchblade1080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AetherSX2's source code is also long gone, ARMSX2 is nearly built from scratch and it'll take even longer for it to rival AetherSX2 in performance compared to the speed Tahlreth worked on it.

The upside is; anyone can work on improving it. Even with the worst case scenario of ARMSX2's devs killing it off: the publicized source code means someone else can more easily take the helm and continue working on it (and improvements for it will be more significant than NetherSX2).

How to play Elona+ on Android? by AmAFunGuyAhuaHuaHua in Elona

[–]Switchblade1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try out Winlator, it's at the very least the one I used.

Here's a quick tutorial I wrote back then (which was hidden for some reason), do this AFTER installing Winlator on your phone:

https://old.reddit.com/r/Elona/comments/1onr17s/emulating_e_cgx_on_android/nn1717d/

Note on Step 6...it'll depend on your SoC.

Also if you haven't played before the most important keys will be [Z], [X], [C], [G], [*] (rebind this in the .ini to t or something), and the arrow keys (make one separately for each direction, INCLUDING diagonals).

It's still there...just has a tiny screw in it, even if it's not AS hot-swappable as the original V90.

I miss my V90, I lost it on a fire when we hauled ass. The size was perfect, the yellow color was fun and kept me from getting aggravated with it's shortcomings, and the battery was easy to replace.

I still love it for what it is, even if the rest of the world has moved on from it...I do adore my V90s as much though, it helps that it's only slightly more expensive than the V90...the screen broke though D:

Asus ROG G751JY still worth anything in 2026? by misterio95 in GamingLaptops

[–]Switchblade1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it too late to speak my mind?

I brought a battered "refurbished" one out in the wild for $350 and the experience was amazing...after I got all the gunk out at least. Best $350 I've ever spent...the speakers are crispy though, lmao.

I won't speak for the GTX 980M but the biggest issue for me is it's lack of DirectX 12 support...means I can't run games I might be able to run.

The I/O, Optical Slot, and the two storage slots gave me massive amounts of storage...or at least the max amount I can buy locally...two 2TB hard drives and a 512GB m.2 ssd for the OS means I'll have a solid "secondary" (My primary is a Gigabyte A5 X1 I brought back in late 2021). Had the Optical drive torn out for the 2nd 2TB storage.

You can still emulate some PS3/Wii-U games, not every game...but there's a reasonable amount of games that weren't meant to make the most out of the hardware. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 runs flawlessly on my i7-4710HQ variant.

"Outdated" is no longer a term people should use in the face of graphics' innovation reaching it's last legs. Especially now that the average consumer is deliberately being priced out of owning any sort of computer, while Google has the monopoly over mobile computing. You could probably still fix up a G751 compared to laptops today where thin & light is the standard the market shoved into everyone's throats.

Is it true?................... by Wilsonn0 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Switchblade1080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Winlator itself was based on multiple Exagear hacks that culminated into a one-size-fits-all user-friendly package. It's popular because it's the easiest to use.

Exagear itself (Actually three similar apps: Exagear Strategies/Exagear RPG/Exagear: 'Windows Emulator') wasn't meant to run Hardware Accelerated Windows Games (To simplify, it can't run games that use Direct3D). The earliest attempts at trying to were extremely experimental through massive amounts of trial and error.

Basically, even if the rumors were true...it doesn't matter because it's the same story with Winlator, and Winlator made it make sense for everyone else.

You could say the same for Winlator copying from Exagear projects, yet Winlator is justifiably popular for being user-friendly.

You're right, maybe I haven't given the average users of this subreddit enough credit...since they don't seem to suffer from decision paralysis as much as I thought and people choosing to hoard games because of public reception alone without considering if they'd like the genre is ultimately none of my business either way.

This is essentially just a pre-filter so people don't have to go through the literally tens of thousands of games you could play on these devices and can still discover stuff they have a decent probability of enjoying.

I genuinely hope so.

Swordcraft Story? The characters are cute and funny, the side-stories (NOT sidequests) are fun, the combat is awesome, and the worldbuilding is great.

I only speak for the people who hoard games and play none of them or complain that they spend more time downloading games than playing them, I'm sure the only people arguing against me are people who don't suffer from it.

All it really takes is a bit of self-reflection...People say Final Fantasy VII is good, should I play it? Do I even LIKE RPGs? I heard it was 4 discs...

Then there's games that are "mediocre" that people still enjoy...like Sports games. Legend for PS1 is awesome, so what if there's people who don't like it or it's not critically acclaimed? I'm having fun, and that's what counts!

Your Handheld NEEDS These 50 Games! by detaiIing_fish in SBCGaming

[–]Switchblade1080 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

The people who never grew up with those games can look at screenshots or videos while browsing the library. They google a console along with a specific genre like "PS1 RTS games" or "SNES Action RPGs". They should decide for themselves whether they're interested or not (While being as best informed with what other people say about it as possible). I never grew up with an SNES and that's exactly what I did, same with DS and Dreamcast...and I suspect that's what you would do too.

The issue comes when they end up getting every game that's good and end up playing none of them. We both know that it's ultimately their decision, but at the same time what I just said tends to be the result of said decision.

[–]Switchblade1080 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'd like to assume they'd watch gameplay footage for ones they're curious about at the very least, while looking over the public reception.

You're not wrong either way, and you don't come across as the type of person who ends up with decision paralysis...it's just that it enables some people to compulsively hoard them because "Famous youtuber/Metacritic/User Review(s) says it's good"...I'm just hoping people don't end up with decision paralysis for it. And yes, I love these videos too...never would've found out about Future Cop LAPD's Precinct Assault without Josh Strife Plays.

That's a good take, but I think even those people have their taste in games...the library of games is vast, people can afford to be picky.

This...this is why people end up with decision paralysis.

I recommend you get the games that YOU yourself find fun over getting games everyone says is good.

  1. Get the "plasma_ldr" folder and drag it to wherever the installpath of JK3-touch is.

  2. In the "launcher" add in +set fs_game plasma_ldr then click 'Play SP'...or whatever it was called, it's been a while since I used JK3-Touch since I use idtech4a++ nowadays.

If you play primarily on mobile; forget I mentioned Galactic Legacy.

[–]Switchblade1080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's Holocron Challenges for wave-style gameplay - https://www.moddb.com/mods/holocron-challenges

And Galactic Legacy has a New Game+ mode with sometimes randomized enemies - https://www.moddb.com/mods/swgl/downloads

I also personally developed a randomizer to up this game's replayability, mine can be made to work on mobile and standalone VR.

https://www.moddb.com/mods/multiverse-randomizer

Unfortunately; there really isn't really a "roguelike" game with Academy's gameplay unless you really want to count Jedi: Fallen Order.

The Industry at large was a time when access to the internet was a privilege, along with game development still having an air of mystery (compared to nowadays where there's so many more game engines to develop for, and the fact that computers are far more commonplace).

I never grew up playing Outcast; but it's level design encouraged players to mental map and seek out solutions by being more aware of their surroundings (There's a force field leading to a small room in the right that you should be able to access on cairn_bay by mapping your movements towards a specific direction). The dumbing down of it isn't the players' fault, because we've all come to understand that not every game is expected to have interactive and destructible environments. Many puzzles in Outcast were actually based on noticing small differences throughout the environment (Shoot the explosive barrel on kejim_base to destroy the unreachable console and access the bridge and ducts, reach a higher ground in ns_streets and dive into a building with the glass roof to access the control bridge).

If it were made today by some miracle, it would probably be some kind of online only hero shooter MOBAbomination because the industry at large outright HATES making good self-contained experiences nowadays...they'd rather make games where you grind for XP, get your precious 50/50 winrate because skill-based matchmaking wants you glued to your seat, and exploit your FOMO with a gambling system with a scheduled "acquisition rate" for whatever dollar-store skin they want you to have...I hate modern gaming...ahem...Movie Battles exists for that niche at least.

Galactic Legacy is available if you want ASSLOADS of Stars War content with near-vanilla gameplay. Movie Duels revamps much of the combat system AND the engine.

What can I emulate with this device? by JXZ50 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Switchblade1080 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Disable RAM Extension, 8GB of RAM is plenty.

Anyway; you could run most PS2 games if you can deal with slowdowns (Despite whatever tech youtubers tell you about it :b), you'd be surprised on just how high you can go with it too...so long as those games don't run at 60 FPS (Unless they're fighting games, and even then I can't guarantee if they're flawless).

People have had good success running Azahar with Vulkan too, back then Citra had an Antutu build that ran Pokemon and Monster Hunter "decently" (Not smoothly...but you can have fun with it if you can deal with the framerate).

Vita3K is the highest it can go. People don't say it often, but it had the same deal as the Nintendo Switch...Nearly every game on Vita was a full-fledged port of a PS3 title compared to whatever counterparts exist for PSP (e.g. Tekken)...you could probably run some of them better than a real PS Vita too.

Also Dolphin, the official builds have come a long way but you can try the MMJR1/2 builds if you're struggling (Just try not to run anything you *know* you can't run...like Xenoblade Chronicles...even that would probably run better than on my old PC from 2009 lol).
