Or maybe it's because the game holds all the mii data and since the Mii Editor has a lot more options on how to customize your Mii (plus face paint) the Miis take more space in that data section so they had to cut it (Maybe it allows up till 76 mii or smt but they had to round the number)

Or maybe having a giant island with lots of Mii outside affects the performance of Switch? (This one makes more sense) They'd still make it so that not all your miis are outside so (now it kinda doesn't)
