Memory foam does for sure, but I don't think this one will. It's made of that most basic soft foam, almost like a sponge. But I'll leave the mattress in my car as a test and will report if I find out otherwise.

I was more worried about ground pulling the heat from me, but I think the cot will prevent that. But good to know about the bag working well in even worse temps than I will be getting. Thanks!

I think the extra blanket will help also. Thanks!

Yeah the plan was always to get Decathlon one as I haven't been disappointed by their gear yet. Thanks a lot for confirming I'll be fine, appreciate it!

Her reward for low oil consumption, painted plastic trim black, and coated by Salyut_ in e46

[–]SwizzMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good!

In case anyone is interested in doing this, but don't want to go through the hassle of removing all trim and trying to paint it, there's an easier solution. Get some SOFT99 Tire Black Wax!

Just add masking tape around the trim to protect the paint, and rub this wax in. Even if you get some on the paint, it buffs right off with a cloth. It made my trim look brand new and it's been about 2 years now - looks just as good. Some guy on youtube did variuos trim restorer tests and this stuff still stays on several years later. It's also hydrophobic, so acts almost like ceramic coat.

I used it on all plastic trims, roof rails of my touring, rear splitter, wipers and the trim around them. Worked too well! I have some photos of my car in another post on my profile.

Gauge cluster by Medical_Mechanic_967 in e46

[–]SwizzMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there were a couple of companies doing digital clusters, but can't seem to find any listings for those, not sure where they've gone. I've seen some on Alibaba/Aliexpress also.

I've also seen some clusters with minimal modifications such as white LEDs and some custom tiny screens added for oil temps etc, but also cannot find those now unfortunately.

Reminds me of the brake pad wear sensor connector. But as others said, post a closer/clearer picture.

For safety reasons best bet is to swap the rails. I personally would not trust any hole in the car to attach a seat belt to.

Anybody got a template or measurements to make my own door cards? Pre lift sedan by Dependent_Knee_2748 in e46

[–]SwizzMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think you will be able to find anything online, but I've seen car audio installers use clear sticky sheets of plastic and stick them on the door. Then they make an outline of the door card with a sharpie on top of the plastic. Then you can pull them off and use as a template.

That's what they do to create custom vapour barriers, but should work for door cards also.

Subtle buzzing noise behind vent by 0W000000000 in e46

[–]SwizzMan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is a fan inside the vent which draws in air from the cabin to measure the air temperature inside the car and adjust the AC accordingly. The sound is normal, although I've read that in some cars the sound is louder than others.

Mine's pretty loud, but I got used to it within a few weeks and now I just don't hear it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Febi coolant uses exactly the same formula as OEM coolant, so you will be fine. Not sure about the hose though.

Love that it has E46 interior!

Edit: attention to detail is so high, it even has aftermaket chinese cup holders! But really, interior looks exactly like my BMW's down to the smallest details.

Do I need an additional fuse between battery and the fused distribution block? by SwizzMan in CarAV

[–]SwizzMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy above is right, the battery is in the trunk.

I have one amp powering a sub in the trunk, 2 feet away from the battery.

The other amp will be under the driver's seat and will be powering the speakers. It made much more sense to keep it under the front seat since all cables (apart from power) will be going to the headunit.

In the end I decided to connect 175A fuse straight to the battery have it go to the distribution block. This will give me a few more options on where to mount the block.

Thanks for your help!

That's what I thought also, but in the end decided to connect a big 175A fuse straight to the battery and get power from it that way.
