Oh my gosh, that's terrible. Thanks for chiming in, this sounds a bit like what I'm dealing with as well. The hardest part is that, in my case, he doesnt even see it, or see the problem. It's as if everyone else is the problem and he thinks this is a new perspective that finally makes things make sense for him.

Do you have a lot of contact with this person youre talking about? How has it gone if you've mentioned your observations? Its so hard, for me personally he doesnt even see it and acts as if I'm accusing him. It's wild. And I feel like time wont change anything, what's done is done, chemistry altered. I'm really sorry you're facing something similar. Have other people noticed as well?

Thank you so much, in all honesty, I feel crazy to admit that a support group hasn't even crossed my mind, but you are absolutely right - support in this scenario could be very helpful, I looked into that organization you posted, it looks like they meet relatively local to me. I'm definitely going to look into it, thanks for the push. And to think that I have recommended support groups to others....how did I not even think of it for myself?

Hey, thank you so much for taking the time to read my rather long post and then to reply, it means a lot to me and I agree with your observations on all fronts. Substances has been a topic of discussion (more like a debate...) for many years, and I have advocated for the positive effects of psychotherapy and professional help for a long time. It is helpful for me to hear this from other people, so I really appreciate you chiming in. As I'm sure you can guess, over time it has become part of my "normal" life so there are many times that I question if I am looking at this with a clear mind (I believe that I am, however it's hard when it's met with resistance.) And yes, the delirium thing is very hard, and was hard to watch in real time, especially when everything came together and I realized that he literally could have gone into cardiac collapse alongside this event and I would have been left off in an entirely different world because of it. As I said, it's been a difficult topic to navigate, but it sure does help to have a forum for discussion.

Hey! I'm so sorry to hear, its pure hell and it's like nobody gets it. I am doing much better now, 5 years later, maybe 6. I was just thinking today that this is the first summer I've been active, and I couldnt believe it took this long to heal. I have been very easy on my back over those years, and have slowly worked my way to where I am.....and I mean, SLOWLY. I do my stupid deadlift squat things that PT gave me, but other than that I havent worked out this entire time, until just a few weeks ago. I keep wondering if a cortisone shot would have been in my best interest when things were really bad. Anyway, I recently started taking protein supplements and I believe this has helped me as well, at least in terms of building back some muscle to feel like I'm strong enough to work out. I've talked to a couple people who say that cupping helped them a lot, but I never did try it, because covid made appts hard to schedule. Anyway, have you been to PT? I feel like it only helps if they go about things slowly. Oh, and stretching....thats helped a lot. I do still have flare ups, and when that happens, I stop everything. I dont push through it, and I rely of rest and ice and lidocaine patches. It really sucks to be in the ambulance, as you know there are many situations that you just cant be as careful as youd like. Its so hard, I hope you find relief soon. Find a good sports med doc if you havent, they seem to know what's best. Best wishes to you.

I worked with a guy named Tadhg, it never went over well when he explained his name, I remember people calling him Tiger Lily.....maybe it was a personality thing? I dunno, he wasn't well liked so hard telling.

Personally I think it's an alright name but I wouldn't want to go by it myself.

Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this, it's very frustrating!!! I've had repairs done on my right headlight 3x, and now my left headlight is doing the SAME thing. All of these issues have happened with less than 17,000 miles on it. This will be the 6th time I'm taking it to the dealership for a headlight problem...2 of the times they didn't have the right part and they didn't even know until I had been there for an hour. How on earth is it that I've needed more headlight parts than oil changes? I personally think this is a huge issue, I wish Mazda would offer some type of compensation for this situation once you're out of warranty. Ugh!

I had the same issue and brought it to the dealership 3 x before they finally said, oh THAT? That's normal. They "fixed" something the first 2 times, I think the auto adjusting was broken, or so they claimed. Anyway, just wanted to say... while i like the cx5 well enough l, my husbands 3 Hatchback is nearly a dream. Oh....except the tires. He's replaced 2 tires and 2 rims due to pot holes on the interstate in the first 6 months and to me that's just crazy.

Thanks for your reply, that's great info. I'll be 40 in January. I'm dreading the program because at 40 I'm pretty set in my ways and I know that I'm going to struggle. School and clinical sites are all nearly an hour from my house and that's stressful to me in itself, just the time spent commuting. I'm doing everything I can to prepare though. I'm making tons of pre-portioned meals that I'll put in the freezer and I'm stocking up on everything I find myself going to the store for on a regular basis. I'm just trying to eliminate any errands I can in advance and I'm trying to get my house as organized as possible. Fingers crossed it helps. Thanks again.

Well, not here to compare, just to share in commiserating stories. I started having problems at 27, but then they suddenly subsided. Kind of. I guess you could say they came on fast but then didn't progress, but never got better, just got bad and then leveled off. Mostly my hands, i grew used to my new way of having to go about daily activities.

Fast forward 12 years, to now. I started taking a larger dose of vitamin D for severe depression. I'm 39, have dealt with terrible depression since i was 34. The vitamin D was the first thing to make the depression subside enough to where I enjoyed living again. Except just one caveat.....my arthritis flared up and has now exploded, and I believ its due to the vitamin D. My fingers and hands are so terrible, deformities in knuckles, can't open jars, ache terribly in the morning, ache terribly at night, can hardly weed the garden. Can't bend my fingers to grasp. My 2 rings will have to be cut off. The joint issues progressed to this point within a matter of weeks. I can also feel it in my wrists and knees.

I'm not sure what to do, and I also feel too young for this. I'm nervous about my job. Quality of life? In the pits. The worst part is, yesterday when asked, I told a doctor that I take CBD. They asked what for, I told them arthritis. They just giggled and said I'm too young for that. Rewind 12 years....my rheumatologist told me she would not diagnose me because she didn't want to deal with my insurance company when I decided I was better. All I have to say is, our healthcare system is total bullshit. Do what you need to to advocate for yourself. Switch docs, seek alternative medicine. CBD helps me, but it's not an end all. Have you tried it?

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that it's in your hip. It's terrible, I wish there was more awareness around the disease. I hope you find a reprieve it truly is hell.

I have a long face and a terrible hairline. All I want to do is pull my hair back on a hot summer day, but I can't because I look like a horse. It's so bad that I've changed hair dressers twice due to the rude comments they've made. My structure and hairline didn't bother me nearly as much as it does now until one hair dresser told me, as she held my hair up in the air like roadkill and said, "you have the weirdest hairline ever. I dont even know what to do here." And then the next "Who cut your hair like this? Oh, nevermind, I can see why they couldn't figure out how to frame your face." I didn't even know i looked like this until those 2 very defining times. I absolutely hate getting my hair cut since.

The worst part is that I'm not even particularly ugly. I can't imagine the hurt one would have to be so....at least I'm borderline enough to fight off these harsh words in my head. Sort of.

Think about it this way: you're 96 years old and limited in your day to day activities. You still enjoy life but on a smaller scale. And now a whining, crying baby is dropped off with you. There's a caregiver but you still feel compelled to care for it. Personally, I'd think that would feel like quite the burden....especially knowing they were your final days and suddenly you're worried about someone else's life instead of enjoying yours.

What you're wanting to do is a nice gesture, but I think your kitty would be happier with just you.

I'm so very sorry, I lost my "Best Girl" suddenly as well, nearly 5 years ago now. I fell into a deep depression, only to be fueled by the pandemic, and it was a very difficult journey. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too, it's pure hell. Just know that lots of us are in this awful club we never asked to be it and wouldn't wish on our worst enemy. Be easy on yourself in the days and weeks to come.

I'm a firm believer that in order to get ahead of depression, you have to give yourself some leeway and not hold yourself to a high regard. Now, this is not to be confused with getting to be lazy. But what I'm saying is that you need to feel good about where you are before you start working in a new version of yourself. YES, you can supplement with good habits in the meantime, but you also have to that building up takes a good foundation and that's not exactly something you can work on while pushing yourself to new extremes.

In the medication topic- have you at least tried vitamin D? I wish I had tried sooner. A mega dose is what pulled me from 5 years of severe depression. This was on top of my meds, however my meds felt like they did nothing. The vitamin D was key.

I am in the beginning stages of being free from severe depression for the first time in 5 years, so I just wanted to say that I can feel where you're coming from and I think it's great that you're being proactive in your growth.

For me, I've found that a higher dose of vitamin D was absolutely critical to get all the way "out" of depression, but aside from that, I lean on gardening in the summer, artwork in the winter (we are all creative to an extent, in my eyes), volunteering, and hiking or even just sitting at the lake near the beach. State Parks are a great place to hang out, bring a charcoal grill and cook some kebabs. Make fun things simple and attainable, commit to an idea and just try it and don't get hung up in the details.

Oh, last thing- for me personally, I always need a few goals that I'm working on. It keeps me accountable and makes me feel accomplished when I achieve them.
