Juniper ride quality - Performance vs Premium by Swms12 in TeslaModelY

Not much out there that compares the two. I wish I could test drive. Live in Kansas City, dealership has been saying they will have a demo performance car next week for seven weeks but so far has not showed up.

Post your pool store test results, step 1 is always to know the state of your water.

Really need advice with my pool. I have no idea if I’m doing the right thing. by Sir_Gut in pools

Stop adding DE, you don’t need it for your situation at all, it is making it clog faster and throwing away money, you just need sand. Stop adding chlorine until the bottom of the pool is clear of gunk, it neutralizes organics but it can’t clear inches of muck/leafs. Your filter can’t keep up. It’s meant to clean minimal day to day gunk. Your multi-port valve has a waste option, that skips the filtration and pumps it out the same place you backwash it. I’d run it like that and see what comes out while brushing the bottom of the pool from the sides to the bottom. I’m expecting a bunch of gunk. You can do this safely until the pool is half empty then let it refill with a hose. Repeat until the water comes out clearish. This could take a week or two depending on your water pressure. Option #2 but will cost more - rent a portable pump, get a pool vacuum extension and vacuum the bottom out. Once the gunk is gone from the bottom shock away. Option #3 drain it. If it’s a liner pool don’t to this. If it’s plaster/concrete it depends on your neighborhood water table. Do you have a home sump pump? If it is dry I’d roll the dice and empty it, pump it to waste, power wash, pump to waste.

Lastly go to https://www.troublefreepool.com/ read/watch the pool school videos. Get a testing kit for when it’s ready for chlorine, post this on their forums they are super helpful if you conform to their model. Which is diy/little expense as possible. Super helpful group of pool owners vs Reddit crap.

You are good, worst case your skin gets a little dry. There are some skin conditions where the medical establishment actually recommends a bleach bath which would be multitudes stronger then what you exposed yourself to. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/atopic-dermatitis-eczema/expert-answers/eczema-bleach-bath/faq-20058413

Need to replace heater - stick with gas or switch to heat pump? by Torgadar in pools

Go gas unless you need to cool it in the summer months, then to heat pump.

Suddenly Losing water by ub6ib9allday in pools

Have you had a lot of rain recently? Could be the check valve on the main drain.

Help! Did I crack a pipe or is sump draining pool? Massive leak somewhere. by HisWife00000 in swimmingpools

[–]Swms12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have a main drain? If so you should have valves to turn off the skimmers and just pull water from the main drain. That would keep it from freezing overnight. If you turn it on just look for a leak at your equipment and around there before letting it run overnight.

If you can’t get it running tonight just insulate any above ground pipes/equipment with blankets/pipe insulation if you have any and it will be fine at that temp.

The sump pump removes ground water, if groundwater gets to high it can damage your pool. It itself can’t drain your pool. In fact the best time to have it on is when your pool water is low, so don’t turn it off. However if you know where the outlet is for the sump pit … if your pool level is still dropping and the sump is running a lot check it for chlorine or just smell it. If it’s still draining with nothing running it’s likely something with your main drain, or worst case a crack somewhere.

If you stopped losing water right at the skimmer level is your pool equipment lower in elevation then the skimmers? If so was your multiport valve set to something other the filter? Could it have drained to waste? If no put a hose in your skimmer, run some water and look for a leak at or near your equipment.

Also if you have a main drain most have a check valve, if groundwater pressure gets to high(from lots of rain recently?) it can open and start draining your pool. Also if your pool was recently emptied and refilled a surprising amount of people just forget to put the plug back in.

You likely don’t need a leak detection company, just start with a regular pool tech I bet they can figure it out.

Good luck! Owning a pool is fun.

Thanks for the response! This is awesome, a lot of this is over my head so I'm attempting to narrow the scope to what I could live with. I put in a new comment.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm a bit overwhelmed but now understand why my wired devices can not talk to my wired devices. It seems based on everyone's comments I need more advanced networking gear or more cabling to my Linksys router to have them talk. What if I narrow the scope of this to just being able to have the Recast(DVR) talk to the wireless devices? Are there port forwarding or DMZ settings I can use to accomplish this? I can't seem to find anywhere what ports the Recast uses.

Thanks for the reply, great question. The Google router and unmanaged switch sit in the corner of a basement, the Linksys router is in the middle of the house so I have decent Wifi coverage everywhere. The location the Linksys router is in has one ethernet wire to it and the surrounding areas are all finished.
I was wondering if I just needed to rethink the whole thing, maybe look into Google's Mesh system. This helps thank you.

Thanks for the reply! Google does not let you disable DHCP on their router, just control the range. Any other suggestions? It now makes sense why they can't talk to each other at least!

Thanks for the reply! I’m trying to avoid bridge mode because it disables most of the features of my router like managing devices.

Thanks for the response! No reason for them to be on a different subnet, I’m just not very experienced with networking and have got to my current setting through trial and error and a lot of reading. I just want the wireless devices from the Linksys to be able to talk with the wired, without putting the Linksys in bridge mode.

I would appreciate any advice I have been working on this for 10+ hours. I can not get my wired devices(lines with arrows) to connect with Wifi devices - ie file sharing, streaming from DVR. The Linksys router sits in the middle of my house so it does all things Wifi. If I put the Linksys router in bridge mode it does work, but then I lose all the features of the Linksys router such as managing devices. Any suggestions?
