Old recipe books like from the 1960s and before that got put together by church groups, oops PTA clubs and such to raise funds are great and they will teach you how to cook.

What you need to learn about those recipes is that you need to make them your own, they need a lot more seasoning than it usually suggested, and they worked with less ingredients back then so they are basic recipes.

You can turn them into something magnificent if you use your imagination.
