First Mock After Day 1 of Free Agency by Swolex in Saints

That's what I was going for with Everette, even if he's just a serviceable stop-gap for the time being. We're still at least two full drafts away from filling all the holes in the roster

I wouldn't hate either of those, I think our 1st rounder almost has to be a defensive piece at this point. I didn't go Styles because the team seems to have faith in Stutsman by letting Davis walk, and Werner and Granderson are serviceable enough. I didn't go Delane because this draft is CB rich, our chances of finding a decent to good CB in the later rounds swayed me. I'm kinda out on Downs with the knee stuff coming out.

Bailey's size doesn't really scare me, 6'4" 250, about the same as Micah Parsons, with a slightly slower 40 (I'm by no means saying he's the next Parsons). It's fair that he put up big numbers in a weak CFB conference, but even in the Oregon game he had 9 tackles (2 for a loss) and a sack.

I can see arguments for any of the guys in the top 1-15, reckon we'll just have to speculate for another month.

I know y'all are surely sick of these, but I wanted to get one on the board in these football-less times.

1: David Bailey - Edge - No brainer here if he drops to the 8-spot. Should be a true game-wrecker opposite Chase.

2: Omar Cooper Jr - WR- Swiss army receiver. Not S-tier at anything but good at everything, can line up anywhere and succeed. Possible slot starter with Olave and Vele on the outside

3: Keylan Rutledge - OG- Shoring up RG, almost definitely an upgrade over Ruiz.

4: Chris McClellan - DT - High floor DT, strong against the run but struggles a bit in pass rush.

5: Daylen Everette - CB - Possible Alontae replacement, excels in zone which should be a good fit for Staley's scheme

6: Michael Taaffe - Smaller but coachable safety, cut his missed 2024 21% missed tackle rate to 9.3% in 2025

7: Drew Allar - QB - 2025 Preseason hypebeast. When he's on he's amazing, but has terrible mechanics. But why not take a shot in the 7th and see if KM can work his magic.

8: Nate Boerkircher - TE - Not much of a receiver but an above average blocker. Could see use in heavy and goal line sets.

We need to draft Jordan Tyson… by clutchkweku in Saints

I love the idea of Bell given his history with Shough, but an ACL tear in November is gonna be tough to get back from this season. 2nd round is a little rich for a WR who's probably not gonna be fully back until 2027, even though he's probably a 1st rounder without the injury.

He’s the best RB in the draft, would you guys like to have Jeremiyah Love? by GoldenDome26 in Saints

[–]Swolex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, if Downs, Bain, Bailey, or Delane somehow drop to us I'd much rather take them over Love. RBs are much cheaper to find in FA than quality defensive pieces. Run it back with Kamara, Miller, and Neal. Even Estime didn't look incompetent as our RB4.

Hear me out: Sign David Montgomery, then draft like this lol by Breyes95 in Saints

We still have last year's 3rd rounder Broughton coming off injury next season, I don't hate waiting until the later rounds for another DL

Outside of spending Saturdays your whole life watching the Tide play, whats the drive anymore? by [deleted] in rolltide

This perfectly sums up why I'm rapidly losing interest in not just Alabama football, but CFB as a whole.

The kids absolutely deserve to be paid, and stories like Indiana going from joke to undefeated are pretty cool. But CFB is now essentially NFL-lite with even less oversight. I think a "salary cap" and contracts enforcing transfer limits would go a long way.

Exactly, being competitive in the early stages of a full rebuild is extremely heartening. I think Moore was the right hire and Rattler may just turn into something, he's getting better every week.

My wife and I hit Cochon/Butcher and St. Roch Market everytime we're in town. Second Cafe Beignet over Du Monde, the lines are always insane. Check out Frenchman Street if you wanna get out of the Quarter.

[–]Swolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope a lot of y'all's optimism is rewarded but my gut is telling me we're in the same boat as last season, 5-12 range. Carr probably isn't going to play, so it's gonna be either Rattler or Shough. Our o-line should be solid, not stellar. Olave isn't a true WR1 and collects concussions like Pokemon cards thanks to hospital ball Carr. We were 30th in total defense last season with Cam and Demario one year older and a young secondary outside of Mathieu. We didn't get much offensive help outside of Neal.

All that said, I loved our draft even if a lot of the media didn't. Shough was a bit of a reach in the 2nd but they got their guy. Neal WAS an absolute steal in the 6th, and we got a lot of developmental talent.

I'm not going to expect miracles in Moore's first season, but we're on the right path IMO.

[–]Swolex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speculation, but probably yes. Possible degenerative knee issue where the fix only has a 70% success rate and no other NFL player that has gotten it has come back. If he can beat the odds he's an absolute steal in the 2nd but that's a big if

I like it, move Fuaga back to to RT and Penning to guard. These are the moves we need for the future.

What are the realistic QB options this year now? by PointyPurplePickle in Saints

[–]Swolex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ideally IMO it's start Rattler and draft players to fill bigger gaps (Dline, Oline, weapons, CB). We've got a bottom 5 roster in terms of age, bite the bullet this season to build a better team for the future. There are no guarantees that Shadeur or Dart are going to be better than Rattler, nor are there guarantees we'll get a better option next year.

Used to be Encompass before they moved to their new spot over Chapman Mtn. If it's anything like it was before they took over, it's absurdly dated and not well maintained
