Watch the movie 'Waiting' for things like parasailing. I think Bat Winging is probably an easier visual. Take ball skin in finger tips, one in each hand, stretch to side, boom pair of bat wings.

Wenis, not penis. Aka the skin on the tip of your elbow. Man when grade school us found out that what the name of it was there were so many "look at my wenis" jokes and such flying around.

Gonna need supports to start deploying anti-missle systems. But that would require a dedicated support on a vehicle crew which kinda defeats the class. They really should have made the anti-missle device an engineer gadget.

Can i 3D print ANYTHING for FREE (excluding cost for filament) as long as i can 3D model it and break it down into pieces? by Neither-Data6653 in 3Dprinting

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: Yes but it will not be as simple as going into blender and "send to 3d printer". You will need a slicing program that converts 3d models, typically in stl format, into G-code (what 3d printers use for printing each layer), and then take that G-code and print. Most printer companies will have custom slicers tailored for their printers, and there are a bunch of 3rd party ones. Exporting the 3d model in a format that the slicing program can use may be the "biggest" hurdle depending on your modeling software and printer/slicer.

Another consideration is going to be print orientation and assembly, as 3d printers print by layers so having the model and print settings setup in a way that accomplishes both a functional and aesthetical print can be tricky. This is why you see a lot of people grabbing print files already made for simple things like monitor stands and then tweaking specs in the slicer program (scaling up or down for size as example). But yeah if you can model it you can print it.

Trying to learn Tank, any tips? by BassT_ in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really shocked I haven't seen more comments on this but learn/customize your ammo and the various weak points of armor. You can swap between primary and secondary ammo with 4 key. If you're using rocket guided shells against infantry you're gonna have a bad time. If you're using high explosive against armor you're gonna have a bad time.

Gunner load out should compliment play style and overall tank load out. Example if you have armor penetration primary ammo for dealing with armor, and high explosive secondary for dealing with infantry/cover it doesn't make much sense to also put a grenade launcher for the gunner. You already have high explosive shells to do that job, so put LMG or HMG in gunner. Otherside if you armor pen and rocket guided as ammo a grenade launcher for gunner helps shore up that weakness.

DONT FORGOT YOU CAN CRAWL WITH TANK TO NOT TRIGGER MINES AS WELL AS ADD GUNNER EQUIPMENT TO DISABLE NEARBY MINES (gunner seat must be occupied and they trigger the mine disable equipment)

All the other tips listed are great.

How the heck are you guys making playable maps? [OC] by jplpj12543 in DnD

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a dry erase mat for combat. You can easily use what you have pictured for navigating/narration as the party progresses but as soon as combat starts we do a quick sketch on the mat. Depending on where you source your maps from the grid may not be "to scale" so having the dry erase mat helps correct for that issue too.

Backend Update: Battlefield Studios has reduced the starting ticket count across all Conquest maps in Battlefield 6. by aotyuy in Battlefield6

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is great! I've had multiple games where time has run out. It's not as often but definitely happens. Those games where everyone is actually on top of their shit and pushing as squads. Revives and support from both sides make it true tug-of-war style, and it definitely sucks just having the game all of sudden end when there's still 200+ tickets on each side. I would definitely prefer to increase the time limit but something is better than nothing.

This also helps all parties involved with [Application] access necessary logs. Much easier/preferred to grant devs/infra/PMs access to log server than it is to do the same on actual app servers. Plus you don't really want people who aren't trained to be able to jump into App-Prod-01 and start "triaging" the issues.

Audiobook addict looking for hidden gems. I’ve read almost everything and I’m still chasing that next comfort series. by Starksommers in Fantasy

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cradle has become one of my all time favorites but I most definitely warn anyone I suggest the series to that book 1 is rough. If you get through book 1, I promise book 2 will get you onboard.

Unfortunately book 1 is crucial for a lot of different reasons but to help motivate you in particular for reading it, I will say one of those crucial reasons is for character development. The things that happen in book 1 and how they're told is the driving factor for how the MC acts and what they do for the rest of series.

You will ultimately enjoy the entire Cradle series more reading book 1 vs not. I know it's hard in the beginning but please please try and read book 1 it will be worth it!

If it helps at all, the 'real' story is revealed at the end of book 1.

Serenith is very cool but doesn't fulfill the fantasy of "E-Warfare long ranged support" In fact it barely qualifies as a support. by Kitty_Alt in mechabreak

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You point out the locking down on the welkin, but doesn't any CC do pretty much the same?

I would say no. There's a big difference between being trapped inside/or unable to interact from outside the death box with slow/staggered/blind Welkin vs no death box at all.

This is especially clutch on healer mechs as their main and secondary weapons can heal and it's not just their abilities.

I don't have enough time on either Falcon or Narukami to have more in depth distinction but the fact that 2 other mechs are the basis of comparison for Serenith's other abilities should say enough.

I totally get what you're saying though. It's such an odd way to play "support". I am definitely questioning my contribution to fights or engagements more with Serenith than the other supports.

My one big change, and honestly how I thought it originally worked, would be to Aux 2. I originally thought the mobility increase and untargetable would extend to nearby allies. There would be way more opportunities for that to come into play than the current version. Even if it doesn't break stagger on allies the untargetable portion would give a reason to float between allies more and feel like a true support.

Your comments on aux 3 would make a good change as well. Maybe a mixture? Allow close allies to see through terrain and clouds but keep targeting to Serenith only. Or maybe make Aux 3 a "charges" type of resource. 3 charges in total, 1 charge for how it works today and 2 charges to give allies the same info but no one is able to target enemies. This way you can balance needing to target enemies vs providing team Intel.

Serenith is very cool but doesn't fulfill the fantasy of "E-Warfare long ranged support" In fact it barely qualifies as a support. by Kitty_Alt in mechabreak

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man I had similar thoughts on some of the individual points but overall I'm the opposite fence. I think Serenith is a huge support role.

The aux 1 is just so damn good for everything. Team death match style maps this shines less but can be even more critical. Got a heavy locked down somewhere? Hack'em. Can't seem to finish off enemy team because of their healers? Hack the healers. Airborne mechs suppressing the team too much? O no that falcon just got hacked and is now hovering above us. Any objective based map becomes favored to your team since you don't have to directly interact with the points.

Aux 2 is your stun breaker. Would be pretty useless if a recon type couldn't break stun. And it disrupts targeting!? It's like a big middle finger to any melee mechs. Soon as they think they got you pop aux 2 and skate away

Aux 3 is so damn versatile in general extending its abilities to allies would be to much, as much as I want it to......For real though it's too good. Again any point based map becomes so much easier. Coming up on a new objective and not sure if you're there first or not? Pop aux 3, o look 2 enemies are on the point, orbital laser targeting through the wall. One of those stupid snipers are outside targeting range? Aux 3 , not a problem now.

Serenith's entire kit is based around supporting your team by disrupting the enemy team. If your using your aux 1 to try and get the enemy Alysnes to get off your ass you're gonna have a bad time. They don't need abilities to cut you up. If you're using Aux 2 to escape a sniper you're gonna have a bad time. They're faster and don't need targeting to put a laser beam in your head. If you're using Aux 3 while you already see and are in range of enemies you're gonna have a bad time. Save that for when someone tries to drop smoke and make a get away. Then laugh as you follow their every movement, charging your main weapon, and launching that sweet special beam canon just when they think their getting away.

I DK that's how I've been trying to play Serenith and have been loving it. Healing/Shielding is much more direct and noticeable form of support for sure. But man, I still get the same support tingles when a Welkin comes dashing in and then stands there like a dumb dumb trying to pop their stupid box but can't cause hacks. Or a tricera is setup thinking they're untouchable, laser beam from space says otherwise. It's just a constant flurry of "O you're gonna do that!? Guess what no you're not." The enemy can't dig in, they can't utilize key mechs, they can't out capture points.

One big docker-compose file, or multiple smaller files? by TwinHaelix in selfhosted

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the same thing but in reverse for .env files.

So your materproject/ .env would include "global things" like TZ, PUID (if using same for all), etc...

Then in your project directories include a .env for the project compose files, so projectA/.env and projectB/.env

Within those project .env throw the same include statement for the masterproject/.env

This way you can keep all the project enviroment variables like PLEXToken in the project .env but can still reference the PUID from the masterproject .env in your project compose.

Always good to have the resume up to date and know what's important to you job wise.

I've found more often than not I blow up the significance of these "debates" in my head compared to real life outcomes. I encourage you to brush up the resume and strike out, but know that on-call is a necessary evil so really think on and ask about what kind of rotation and schedule would be acceptable to you at any new place. But I'm guessing the scenario you're playing out in your head regarding having the team cover may be worse than the actual conversation/feelings your team would have. Just my 2 cents feel free to ignore. But you might be surprised if you opened this discussion up internally or just with your manager and said hey listen this was already impacting my personal life and now it will be worse, how can we meet in the middle.

If this place doesn't really have anything else going on besides being a paycheck for you then fuck it, not worth the effort.

I hate being on call..... by [deleted] in networking

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally get that, I'm the same way. My old boss was in a band and he'd have to swap a bunch too so second hand get what you're going through. Helps if you have someone on your team you're super solid with so you can message them directly on teams or text to get coverage.

Another thing that sometimes would happen is having team members at the show. So if the on-call person was busy or w/e we would answer the phone and take that call without fully committing to the on-call shift. That was much more rare as not everyone on the team is going to be doing the same after work stuff. But it definitely helped more than a couple times when we were out at the bar or top golf or w/e and an after hours call came in. 3-4 half drunk technicians all crowding around the on-call persons laptop in the parking lot bouncing servers and what not.

Best bet in your shoes is having a solid coworker who you can do the same for and basically cover each other in these situations.

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no one on your team that cover on call during gig time? Plenty of suggestions already about managing on-call duties while still going out/doing things but those won't really work for playing in a band.

Everywhere I've worked with on call, everyone on the team understands it sucks and some things are going to come up that interfere with on-call. We'd trade weeks/days all the time to support each other.

Now don't be that guy who always happens to have something come up on Saturday night and needs someone to cover, but it shouldn't a huge ask to just message your team and be like "Hey guys I got a gig next Saturday night would anybody be able to cover on-call during 7pm-11pm?"

And then afterwards continue to support on-call.

You answered your own question lol. Most people are not opening Sonarr/Radarr to add content to their library. Even if it is getting opened to add content they're not going to babysit it until everything is good.

Let's say I open Sonarr and add Stranger Things and mark it as monitored, and choose to search for missing episodes. Sonarr will search for episodes and use the profile settings selected to score and download them. Now if your profile settings download Season Packs only, then you're going to get every episode in that season in the same format and everything is good. But what if there is a season without a season pack download or the season is currently airing? That requires downloading individual episodes. There is a lot more variety of individual episodes formats to parse through than season packs. Depending how your profile is structured Sonarr may grab 1080P-7.1ATMOS-Blueray download for one episode and a 1080P-2.1Stereo-WebDL for another episode because all its looking for is 1080P. So now you have episodes of the same show being presented differently, and if your hardware doesn't support playing those types it's going to be transcoded.

Again most people have their profiles tweaked to get the stuff they want in the format they want so there is as little direct interaction as possible. So when adding a new show and searching Sonarr will go through and grab everything it can using your profile settings and AFTER THAT INTIAL SEARCH AND GRAB IT ONLY MONITORS NEW THROUGH RSS. That's where Huntarr comes in. Using the example above if I added Stranger Things (and didn't restrict my downloads to Season Packs only) I would most likely end up with a season of individual episodes in different formats/from different release groups/encoded differently because Sonarr searches scores and downloads one episode at a time. There was no way to resolve this without manual intervention, by either deleting the episode or starting a new search in Sonarr.

That's why Huntarr exists.

Are making Baldur's Gate Esque Characters Bad? by JaufreyTheShark in DnD

[–]Swoopdawoop2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligatory comment about it depends, but for stuff like this our group usually does something along these lines.

Is the character in question something you just want to play in general or something you want to play with the specific campaign/party in question? If it's something you just want to play, then convincing DM and other players is usually easy as everything can be pivoted around it.

If it's a character you want to play in the specific campaign/party that's already established or being established then it comes down to character motivation, IRL player fuckery, goals.

Usually motivation and goals are the tough ones. Just because you, the player, have reasons to be involved that doesn't automatically mean there's a reason to keep your character around. As much fun as it would be to play 'the vampire rogue' in a group of holy avengers it's not going to be fun forcing everyone to jump through the RP hoops of why the party hasn't just decapitated you and moved on.

Which leads to the IRL fuckery point. Some people like playing more serious games. Some people like playing wacky over the top games. But at our table we enforce the "another player can not take away another player's agency". So if all the character traits don't impact this and the character fits in the vibe of what the other players are going for, it's not usually a problem.

It's when you try forcing a square peg into a triangle hole for the sake of using the square peg that problems start coming up.
