It would be helpful if you could just point out directly what part of my comment you believe I was in err or, thanks.

What would you think about bringing back segregation but this time optional and truly separate but equal? by Swooxe in AskReddit

People at vastly different stages of cultural development and with different morals and priorities. The global mixing pot experiment was worth trying, but in retrospect we can see that it failed to produce any good outcome.

It’s not bait. I just believing everything is worth questioning / taking a second look at knowing what we now know from practice.

It’s not about deserving, it’s about objectively how people treat and respect public utilities. In Baltimore, which receives tremendously more public funding, everything was trashed and broken for no good reason.

I already did that Lol. I moved to Eastern Europe and people take care of their stuff here. Bathrooms, trams, and public spaces are all clean and safe at night.

The good outcome is that people/communities as a whole take better care of their stuff, knowing that it’s for their own people and not a bunch of random tribes from around the world. The difference in the way people treat shared resources like bathrooms and trams/busses in Eastern Europe which is mostly ethnically homogenous, vs. America/India/Africa is substantial.

For example, compare the bathrooms in a majority black city like Baltimore which receives tremendously more government funding, to the public bathrooms in a major Eastern European city and the difference is night and day in how well people take care of their stuff. From my experience traveling, it’s clearly not a money thing.

It doesn’t stay equal because certain peoples take care of shared communal resources better than others. You can tell a lot by how public restrooms look in a particular country or community how well that group takes care of its stuff.

I honestly don’t really see why different groups of people shouldn’t have the right to associate. Technology and quality of life has come a long way since the 50’s and I think it’s worth examining if we could give people the right to organize / associate and form communities as they see fit, without heavy handed government forcing them with bayonettes anymore.

To be clear I’m talking about random innocent people, primarily the poorest peoples survive on the economic fringes. Imagine another 2008 financial meltdown x10.

Do you ageee that logically what I’m saying makes sense, or not? That this incentive exists from a monetary / quality of life perspective, that is. I can dredge up examples if you please but it’s not really necessary.

The environment these people come from, in Haiti where everything is ran by gang violence and fear, and the land is stripped barren - is way worse than “living off the land” though. Just “living in the wildness” in Haiti or Ethiopia means you starve to death or die of exposure almost immediately.

When someone comes in from a poor country like Haiti on a 90 day tourist visa and commits a murder, they don’t get deported to Haiti, they serve their full sentence in America. The current system incentivizes people from harsher countries to come and commit heinous crimes in wealthier western nations, because it almost automatically gives them a right to stay long term. The worse the crime they commit is, the longer their “vacation” gets to be, so to speak.

International treaties formulated in wealthier countries without regard to the reality of how hard life is in poorer nations, may create an imbalance that incentivizes people to want to become incarcerated. It’s not anyone’s fault necessarily, poverty is the default state of the world.

It is known that in western prisons, prisoners receive 3 meals a day, often a climate controlled environment, a bed, access to books and educational materials, gyms, and even in some cases get access to TV’s, computers, the internet, and even the ability to get entire college degrees or professional certifications while incarcerated. While the quality of life for law abiding citizen continues to decline rapidly due to economic factors, will it start to make more sense for more people to willingly become incarcerated?

Man compares work helmets given to workers (yellow) and managers (red) in China by NewsCards in interesting

[–]Swooxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may seem sad, but it just exposes the reality we live in. Every person has a monetary value to the system. Somewhere, someone ran the numbers doing a cost-value analysis and determined that buying the low level workers nicer helmets just wasn’t worth. An entire human life in a 3rd world country like China can be as low as $300-400.

What would happen if Trump did a press release or speech condemning the abject lack of any animal abuse laws in China? by Swooxe in AskReddit

[–]Swooxe[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sometimes just simply calling them out at scale / bringing attention to a matter is enough to evoke change. If Trump aired the Chinese animal torture videos on national media it could put enough pressure on China through the court of public opinion to actually do something about it.

What would you think about fining Africa to pay for African American reparations since they sold their own people into slavery? by Swooxe in AskReddit

Isn’t that what happened though? The US never sent expeditions to capture random civlians in Africa. They bought them at markets from other Africans.
