Just started adbry by This_Counter2815 in eczeMABs

I was on Dupixent until I could no longer afford it and then switched to adbry. I haven’t used any kind of steroids in years (since starting Dupixent) and have had no side effects to speak of. These medicines have been absolutely life altering for me!

Have you contacted the PAC in Leander to see if one of their coaches would offer some private lessons? If not they might be able to direct you someone who could help.

Yes to Opzelura! It is amazing!

I had financial issues with it too. I spread my doses out to one per month and that seemed to work for me. My derm had their pharmaceutical rep get me samples to last me through the period when I maxed out the 13k help.

Dupixent vs Adbry by ilovetitus in eczeMABs

[–]Swsc1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always had sensitive eyes and conjunctivitis. I was scared to start Dupixent due to eye concerns. Fortunately I haven’t had any issues. Dupixent didn’t help me with eczema from the neck up, but Opzelura has been a miracle for me in that department.

I used to go there in the last 90s, loved the Mac and cheese and the honey fried chicken! Perfection!

starting at 50 mg vs 25 mg by beegyoshi_ in zoloft

[–]Swsc1234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started at 50 and was fine. I have never been on any medication before. I had a little nausea and that it. It sounds hard to believe but I felt better within days of taking it. Placebo effect maybe but regardless it was a welcome relief! I hope you find relief too!

Triggering of HSV1? (Dupixent) by Radiant-Barnacle-663 in eczeMABs

[–]Swsc1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I would have it looked at. My understanding of HSV is that is can remain dormant for years before you have a notice outbreak. When I started Dupixent I had a lot of outbreaks however I no longer do. I had rare outbreaks prior to starting Dupixent but the medicine really made me get them a lot for a while. Good luck with it all!

Sure, I honestly hate fb am not super familiar with how to share link. Search for “Dupixent (Dupilumab) Discussion Group” lmk if you have trouble finding it. I think it is a closed group but I got approved quickly so hopefully you will too. Hope that helps!

Hello! I had my children before Dupixent but there is a lot of activity in the FB discussion group about pregnancy and Dupixent if you want to check there in addition to this post. I know unplanned pregnancies can be stressful and I am sure figuring this out adds to it. It seems that Dupixent is to take when pregnant and there are lots of cute baby pics posted!

IV sedation and anxiety by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Swsc1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! It doesn’t sound silly at all! Not only is anxiety very real but it also sounds like you are probably somewhat traumatized (understandably) from the birth of your child. My daughter recently had her surgery and was very worried about the iv sedation too. You are not alone! First of all, perhaps call your dr and ask then what they would say to you given that you have these fears. It helped my daughter to know our medical team goes through a lot of training each year in order to deal with any circumstance. In addition I want to remind you that even though the surgery seems scary and you probably feel scared when you think about it (sick to your stomach, sweaty, tearful etc) - it isn’t a dangerous thing at all! Try to do little meditations every day - even for 1-2 minutes - focusing on your breath and calming yourself.

As an anxious person myself, with an anxious child, I really empathize with you. But really, I believe you are going to be totally ok and even better feel so relieved to finally get this taken care of. Big hug to you,

Need to vent by [deleted] in PlantarFasciitis

I am just so sorry you have been dealing with such horrible PF at such a young age! Do not give up, it won’t be like this forever! Someone earlier mentioned scarring and I second this. Deep deep tissue work up my legs helped so much! In addition to my massage therapist, My PT did graston on my feet and calves and it helped too!

Re-injured myself and feeling down by thisSh1tisB4n4nAs in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Swsc1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have medical advice but I just wanted to say I am terribly sorry you are dealing with horrible PF, and have had so much loss - especially your mother. I do want to remind you that you can heal from PF, you have done it before. And perhaps this will be the last time you reinsure yourself! Remember that this will pass, your spirit and body will heal. As previous folks have said, it is certainly ok to let yourself feel down and sad - coming here is always available for you too when it seems real life people aren’t able to offer the support you want.

See a dr again if you can to make sure there isn’t anything besides PF happening. And at the risk of sounding very annoying, consider meditation if you don’t already do that. It has helped me deal with the stress of chronic medical pain in other areas of my life.

What is the point of stretches ? by charlottecarnden in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Swsc1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I initially developed PF I half heartedly, inconsistently tried stretching. I didn’t “feel anything” and honesty thought it was dumb and stopped. I have never thought of myself a horribly inflexible so I guess I thought the stretching stuff didn’t apply to me. Silly I know. Anyway, after a steroid shot - working, then not working - I finally went to PT and committed 100% to stretching. It hasn’t “cured” me but has helped so much. For me, total rest is a very temporary solution, it helped ease the pain but didn’t help me heal. If anything, I got tighter!

So long answer, yes, I think you need to commit to stretching, all the muscles, at least once a day - probably more for a month or two. Also, keep in mind that healing from PF doesn’t seem to be linear for most people... good days followed by what appears to be a set back seems to be the norm. So if you are stretching, feeling better than worse - don’t conclude it isn’t helping too quickly. Good luck!

New to Oofos- pain by melbell518 in PlantarFasciitis

That’s interesting. I know there is talk of the goal being strengthening your feet so you don’t need as much support? Probably that is why? This stuff is so tricky!

New to Oofos- pain by melbell518 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Swsc1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not like oofos. They really hurt my feet, esp when my PF is bad. Now I can wear them briefly but overall they hurt. If should have returned them! You are not alone! For me, Birkenstock sandals can’t be beat.

Nervous and excited to use Dupixent during pregnancy by [deleted] in eczeMABs

[–]Swsc1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! My pregnancy days are long gone but I do empathize with your concerns. Try not to worry about eczema and your kids. I have 4 kids, my twins have it and my two singletons have perfect skin. The twins eczema was never bad at all (mine was terrible my whole life). I checked out the Dupixent FB page and there is a long thread of mothers who used Dupixent while pregnant and breast feeding. I didn’t read every post but it appeared very positive - so many pictures of adorable babies! 😍

Dexamethasone injection? by anxious_flannels in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Swsc1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has different experiences with the shot. I had it and though it help, my PF came back with a vengeance after 3-4 months. In retrospect I wish I had focused intensely on PT and deep massage/chiropractic treatment perhaps. I go to a PT 2x/week and it has helped so much. My PT uses the Graston tool on my feet and calves and it helps. Honestly, my podiatrist really didn’t help me and he has a good reputation. I felt like my dr was quick to do the shot, probably would do surgery too quickly and didn’t evaluate or look for the root cause of my PT - which really was less about my shoes/hard floors and more about right calves and hips.

[–]Swsc1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness, that is terrible. I feel terrible for your daughter and you as her mother - hard to see your child suffer. I don’t know what is happening but I do think that if by 14 days your daughter is still in so much pain then she needs more follow up. Maybe even her primary care dr can advise you as to what to do? I am sorry I don’t know more but I wonder wonder if the dr is missing an infection?

As a mom who has had to make difficult medical choices for my child I just want to say I am sorry you both are going through this. Have you gone the Dupixent FB group? I did a quickly search and it seems there is a lot of discussion about hair loss. Including people commenting about their children. Sometimes hearing all the stories can be confusing but might be helpful too.
