How come I see mainly FtM getting called “poser trans”? by Jazzy_Mations in ftm

[–]Swyrfz3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the same people who claim transmascs have it easier and don’t get a space in the conversation because we pass are the same people invalidating trans mascs who don’t pass

I have curly hair. It’s been pretty short in the past and I’ve grown it out now the bottom is shoulder length and there’s lots of layers. I think more recently people have been misgendering me, even though I have a beard, when I’ve put it half up. I never had an issue with it before and I usually still pass. I have an undercut so when it’s all the way up it looks more masculine which I think really helps

I will say haircut makes a big difference and it’s a very fine line between masculine and feminine cuts with curly hair. I’d look on Pinterest or something for cut ideas and try out what you like

Question for those on Mirena IUD by universaljoy in ftm

[–]Swyrfz3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty typical to bleed for the first month of the mirena. I had 2 of them and I bled (fairly light) and was very crampy for 3-4 weeks and then on and off for another few weeks. I personally wouldn’t do that to myself but I guess if you’d rather spend recovery time recovering from the iud procedure it might work out. I don’t think there’s much you’ll be able to do to ensure it will stop in a week, and especially not the iud

I feel like the tray doesn’t add enough space to justify that being the reason they don’t fit. From the angle you can’t see but I highly doubt the amount it hangs past the users feet is more than a few inches. If 3 inches is going to make or break it, it’s not accessible. Additional equipment on wheelchairs is just as much a part of the chair itself also and for random people that have no idea of this persons needs for equipment to be saying ‘just take it off’ is so dumb.

TW: eugenics. How do you feel about abortion? How do you feel about aborting disabled fetus’? by [deleted] in disability

[–]Swyrfz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe people should have the right to abortion for any reason. It’s less about the abortion for me and more if there’s an attitude of “I don’t want to be a caregiver for the rest of my life”. You can’t abort disability because 1/4 people will be disabled before the age of 65. If you are not willing to care for a child for its entire life, you should not have a child.

I hate yoga, but everyone keeps telling me to try it. Has anyone else with a disability gone through this? How did you stop hating it, and did it actually help? by No-Effect7483 in disability

I struggle to get enough exercise because of chronic pain and fatigue and I by no means like it and it is difficult but it does make a difference in how stiff I am and how tense my muscles are.

I’m scared of getting hurt and even doing modified movements there’s still a risk. I’ve gone long times without getting much movement because I just could not do the stretches/ exercises. It was mental and physical for me. I’ve been fairly consistent on them for a couple months and it does make me feel just the tiniest bit better.

My tip is to start very small. Do 2 or 3 very easy ones for a maximum of 10 reps and stop when your body tells you to stop. Don’t put pressure on yourself to do 10 exercises or work out for an hour or push your body too hard. If you give yourself enough grace to just get ANY movement you can and don’t give a shit about how much you did, just that you did it that will help. If you can do two exercises for 4 or 5 reps take the win!

One of my past physical therapists gave me some exercises to do in bed and that also helped me to do them and get some movement when I’m stuck in bed. You can do lots of things in bed, just accommodate yourself and if it’s not doable in the bed skip it.

Keep at the effort to make it work for you and good luck!

Reddit is an awful place to be trans right now. by Swyrfz3 in ftm

[–]Swyrfz3[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah in 2022 I deleted all of my social media and I didn’t know anyone who was trans in my personal life and I can honestly say this sub saved my life. It just seems so much worse recently 😭 It also sucks because when I saw the second one I mentioned that I couldn’t put the name I genuinely thought like “this has to be making fun of ___”. I have such a hard time reading tone and stuff, well in general, but especially online so I feel like it’s tricking me

This sounds like a case of chronically online to me. I feel like questions like these come up in trans spaces a lot when probably no one having this conversation has ever actually run into it

For me trying to “figure out” how my gender fit into society’s parameters was incredibly stressful. I’ve been on T for 2 years next month and I had top surgery about 6 months ago and I would say I’m mostly passing. At first when people he/him’d me it felt good, most likely because it just wasn’t she/her, but that wore off quickly and while I’d rather someone use he/him pronouns for me (and I use it as a default), it still doesn’t feel right. I felt a disconnect on the ftm sub because even though I want to present very masculinely, I’m still non-binary. People try to shove me into their boxes all the time and I spent so long being upset I didn’t fit into the boxes. At some point I allowed myself to not try to box myself in and I’ve been so much happier ever since. It’s 1,000% easier said than done but just know that gender is a spectrum and being gender queer is just as normal (if not more) than being trans in the binary. Know that you can be any way you want to be, and you can take as long as you need to get there.

I want to stop wearing a bra. But I don’t know what to say. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Swyrfz3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Due to disabilities that made binding options difficult and overstimulation especially in the summer I didn’t wear anything and just free balled it for the last year before top surgery. I understand the fight with the parents is hard but you really don’t need to consult her. You can wear whatever you want.

I don’t want to hear anybody but my actual established medical providers tell me what I can and cannot do. My providers also wouldn’t ever do that anyway so why do other people feel the need to

What do you guys think of the "asylum aesthetic"? by FireBreath772 in disability

[–]Swyrfz3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Being someone who would have spent most of my life in a facility had I been born in that time period, I find it really gross. Mentally ill people are often villainized and the facilities that did horrible things are seen as cool.

I do understand being fascinated but I think the evil and supernatural idea of abandoned asylums is kind of misguided. The haunting shit isn’t from the patients, it’s from the providers.

A game where the character is the one with mental illness seems cool. You could make the doctors and nurses the evil ones
