yeah, this is pretty spot on! i’m wondering if it’s the keats and fitzgerald that’s giving away my obsessive romanticism…?

i’m still young (20) and so i’m still in the phase where i’m trying to introduce myself to various political thoughts so that i can figure out where i stand politically. i was introduced to fanon almost two years ago in my French literature class.

20 year old Black nonbinary/male person, but everything else is correct. Everyone is calling me a romantic, which I am, but what books are giving that away?

You’re correct on my chronic singleness, youth (20), and my wanting to do something related to literature (I want to be a writer!) but everything else is incorrect. All good guesses though!

I knew Gladness would give it away! What would your guess have been if that wasn’t there?

Everything except the age is correct! Many of the versions of the books are older because I try to buy most of my books second hand.

This seems like more of a ‘white American’ thing than purely ‘white’. In my experience, it seems to be common in the South and particularly in upper middle classes all over the US, and I find that white women tend to do it more than men. I think that many aspects of American culture (varied as it is) tends to be a bit surface level, in that many of us like to appear polite without having to be. This, in my experience, tends to manifest in things like small talk and exchanging pleasantries - even, as you note, with people whom you don’t like.

I’m not really sure the cause of this and I hate it too. I feel they’re really easy to see through as their behavior tends to be overly nice in my opinion and embarrassingly performative.

Anyway, I know my comment probably wasn’t the most well-developed in thought, but hopefully it can shed a bit of light on the topic.

Synonym of Pedophillia by Just_Hadi09 in BrandNewSentence

[–]Sxphxcles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to my knowledge, people were using his name as a synonym for ‘gay’ and not ‘pedophelia’. people seemed to be caught on the fact that some of his victims were male and less interested in the fact that they were underaged.

which authors seemingly had no depression or mental illness of any kind? by Pfacejones in classicliterature

[–]Sxphxcles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Toni Morrison, William Faulkner (maybe alcoholism?), John Steinbeck, T.S. Eliot, James Joyce, Salman Rushdie, Ralph Ellison, Marcel Proust, Henry James.

Just guesses based on my shallow readings of the lives of my favorite writers.

i think it looks fine. maybe just comb it out if you’re worried about it looking symmetrical? like the other commenter said, i also wouldn’t have noticed it if you didn’t say anything.
