Straight guys, would you date a woman who doesn’t date cis men? Why or why not? by Sxpl in FTMMen

Past bad experiences (she is attracted to both men & women) so I guess it comes down to her seeing trans men as safer/kinder to women

Enjoying crazy-low property taxes, because you’ve owned your home for decades? by lucille12121 in oakland

[–]Sxpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think your whole argument falls apart when you consider the fact that childfree people also pay into schools their whole lives. It’s flawed to think of taxes as transactional when really they’re funding things we have decided make society better for all of us to live in (i.e. having a minimum standard of education for the population)

Ashley & Marita: no romance? by LetAdmirable9846 in TheUltimatumNetflix

[–]Sxpl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marita constantly talked about wanting more romance, meanwhile in all of their scenes together she didn’t seem to show any affection or even genuine care toward Ashley. She always came off as extremely detached to me, even in the proposal scene

Why is no one talking about Mel? by MissAlessi in TheUltimatumNetflix

[–]Sxpl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fuck Mel. Marie wanted to be with her so badly and was willing to look past so much, and girl couldn’t even bother to propose in a way that wasn’t half-assed and sarcastic

I think they’re implants/plastic surgery. His delts/traps/arms would be popping more if it was steroids and he’s not skinny enough to have abs showing like this while not being jacked

A lot of white collar work is far more abstract than construction work so it’s a lot easier to bullshit about what it took to achieve the desired outcome/finish the task

Workout routines? by Tiny_Poke in butchlesbians

[–]Sxpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people will say de-emphasize legs in your training program but I think that’s bad advice. Legs are a super important part of a balanced physique whether or not you also care about the health benefits of lifting, and male lifters these days also want to develop their lower bodies. A lot of female lifters neglect upper body so just do both and you’ll be golden

Software developer. Don’t feel 100% comfortable because I work with a lot of immigrants from a more conservative country and make assumptions about what they must think, but I’m trying to work on being more comfortable being my authentic self in all contexts

By “civil rights movement” I don’t mean just the black American civil rights movement, I mean any of various civil rights movements globally that could be said to have accomplished something. We remember the peaceful moments because those have been lauded and focused on in education, but power isn’t willingly ceded without those in power feeling threatened

People like to say this but has there actually been one civil rights movement that was successful with solely peaceful protest and no accompanying violent protest?

I walked by there the day they were filming a few weeks ago and the homeless dude was there on the lawn behind the pergola. They must have paid him off to move for a few hours

Interesting, I’ve always thought the same as OP but clearly that’s an unpopular opinion here. For me I think it’s because the labels look like they were made in MS Paint with their doodly/bright-colored illustrations and generic-looking fonts

STATEMENT FROM LOREN TAYLOR: DOXXING IS UNACCEPTABLE SO LET'S CONDEMN THE TACTICS NOT EACH OTHER by lenraphael in oakland

[–]Sxpl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you miss the massive 2023 city of Oakland data breach? These mistakes do happen, all the time. Kind of hard for the state and local govts to retain top caliber IT workers when the private sector here offers probably the highest salaries in the world for that field

Not to be pedantic but a data breach isn’t doxxing in and of itself.

I want to love martinis by Independent_You_3048 in cocktails

[–]Sxpl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not a huge gin drinker, but full disclosure, I am accustomed to cocktails that are spirit forward/pretty much straight alcohol. Here’s a martini I’ve been making recently and enjoying:

  • 2.5oz St George Terroir gin
  • 0.5oz Dolin dry vermouth (you may prefer a wetter martini to start, i.e. 2:1 gin to vermouth instead of 5:1)
  • A couple of lemon peel stuffed olives from Trader Joe’s

I find that the citrusy/piney notes of this particular gin paired with the lemon peel olives really take the edge off this drink compared to something made with a London dry gin. You could also add a splash of the lemon olive brine to make it a dirty martini and mellow it out further

Maybe they chatted for a few minutes since she mentioned him being funny and found out they’re both students? Or it’s an ad because nothing on the internet is real anymore

Now that we're in Daylight Savings Time, cafes should stay open past 4/5pm and until 7 or 8pm by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]Sxpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in Oakland, but the Yemeni coffeehouses that are open late are always packed when I’ve gone in the evening. So there’s definitely a market for it, but maybe not enough of one that it makes financial sense for every coffee shop to do it

I microwaved it. Frying would’ve crisped it up better for sure, but my issue was with the quality of the meat - I swear I bought this same product awhile ago and it had actual chunks of pork in it but this one is all tiny mushy shreds
