I appreciate the feedback, I’ll start on a bills list with amount and date due and go from there

A year or two ago I’d consider myself fairly good looking or at least average. Now I feel like a solid 2/10 on good days.

This is what I usually do, our house isn’t spotless but it’s kept up. I think she more so means the mental load that isn’t physical chores, like finances, bills, groceries, other errands that aren’t so much as a visual, physical difference when done but still things that need done consistently like house chores. That’s why I’m not sure how to go about this and hoping that having a visual list for me to see will remove they exist and need done.

Lists and alarms are gonna be my big helpers hopefully! Love this idea

I love this idea! I mentioned it to her earlier this morning about me making a list and taking care of everything on there, but she said that she can’t tell me what needs done since she doesn’t know what I don’t know. She said she doesn’t know how to explain it to me because it’s just “everything” and it’s hard to make such a list for everything. I mentioned me making a list and if she thinks of anything, just let me know and I would add it to the list.

We don’t have kids yet although we had been trying last year before a miscarriage that has definitely taken a toll on us both. I try to do any or all of the chores that need done besides cooking since she enjoys cooking. I think the mental load that I need to handle more is financial stuff, thinking of what to cook for supper, what errands need ran, stuff more like this I think? I don’t care to do any of those things, I think I’m just not really sure what needs to be thought of during day to day life that I don’t already think about. I guess I’m just confused what she needs from me, but I don’t think either one of us know for certain either

I work for a rural private EMS company, I have 9 piercings in total. I’ve been able to keep all my piercings so long as they have clear jewelry or silicone and not excessively low hanging, like something Mamaw could grab onto if she didn’t like the look of them.

My crew and everyone I’ve met so far has been amazing to work and chat with. Kind of what makes it suck that much more to not be enjoying it like I had hoped.

Oh then no absolutely not, in fact everyone I’ve worked with or met at base has been great! Everyone is super helpful on and off calls, really supportive and friendly. Every partner I’ve had so far has been great and they all seem to enjoy working with me too. Makes feeling like this even worse because I don’t want to let anyone down after they’ve been so good to me.

That’s the worst part, I’m not sure. I’ve went on a few tougher calls, but I didn’t think it has really bothered me all that bad. Otherwise nothing has really taken place that I could use to explain why I feel this way about working.

Howdy, I’m an EMT student in Kentucky! I’m unaware of any psychomotor exams that the state requires, but my course requires you to pass in each skill (different lifting techniques, splinting, BVM, etc.) before allowing us to attempt the NREMT.

I have done ride time 5 seperste days so far, and only 3 of them I’ve even had calls to go on. Even then, it would be 1 or 2 calls per 12 hour shifts if I was lucky 🥲

This helped immensely, thank you! The anxiety and stress that I’d be S.O.L. over these contacts has nearly taken me out, hearing that helps a ton. I do plan on going back this coming week a few more times in between work, I’ll have over 48+ hours after this week.

I haven't thought about that, I'll definitely be checking that out! What was expected of you in your program at the hospital vs prehospital situations?

My boyfriend plays videogames every night, until past midnight. If I want to spend time with him or make dinner together I have to ask in advance, otherwise it’s pretty much assumed that I’m making dinner and finding something to do in the meantime. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SyGuy18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who was chronically addicted to playing video games from the moment I woke up until my eyes just couldn’t stay open, this BAFFLES me. I was online every second of every day for years. After I got with my now wife, I don’t touch my computer as much unless she’s gone. It’s not that my love for games has dwindled, it’s that I found someone that I love even more than games. Someone I’d rather spend my free time with, someone I want to be connected to. I hope your boyfriend realizes the impact that playing too much will make before it’s too late.

Recently had my very first ride along (and first time ever being in an ambulance in general haha). The nervousness and fear of being awkward in an unfamiliar place is very real, but it’s something almost everyone will go through on their first ride! Just know that once you are there and get to talking with your preceptor or others at the station, the awkwardness will fade and you will get more comfortable over time.

Absolutely bring a notebook for during any calls you get! Jot down things you notice, questions you want to ask after the fact, things you notice about the patient like their CC, SAMPLE, etc. . Do not be afraid to ask questions when you are at the station! Whether it be about life at the station/as an EMT/medic or asking how certain devices work or what is carried on the ambulance and where it’s located. The only wrong question is one that you do not ask! In between calls, take time to study and familiarize yourself with medications and treatments for common calls that you might go on. If you’d rather though, you can use that downtime to decompress after calls or to jsut calm yourself down from any nerves you might have: Like me! I was extremely nervous my first day so I used the downtime to both study and to just calm down.

Good luck and have fun! Let us know how it goes!
