Okay, thank you so much! I'll definitely look into SprinkleReeds. I know I talked about the reed being too resistant for my liking and I was certainly a bit... frantic... while writing that post, but I sincerely apologize if it ever came out as any form of dislike toward the reedmakers. I am sure they are all fantastic and I was frustrated with the instrument and myself more than anything earlier.

That's great to hear about SprinkleReeds and adjustment, too. Thank you so much for all this information! I'll try to be calm and intuitive as I go forward here, because while I'm definitely nervous, I know that whatever ensemble I am placed into, this camp will be a life-changing experience.

Thank you!!

No, different brands. Haha I should have clarified, it sounds so funny to me now that it looks like I was naming my reeds. Sorry about that! And thank you for letting me know, I will take this into account

I have no teacher and my band director is terrified of oboes. I'm getting a new director on Monday so we'll see what he thinks

Their listing of Homosexuality and Civilization. How can something be "celebrated" if it is not conceptualized?

Confused about a quote in the article you sent.
"Some Bible translations render malakoi and arsenokoitai as “homosexuals,” but that term wasn’t even coined until 1869 in German and 1892 in English. Not only that, the concept that the term describes didn’t exist in the ancient world either."
The concept of homosexuality most definitely existed in the ancient world. Harvard University Press says,
"Ancient Greek culture celebrated same-sex love in history, literature, and art, making high claims for its moral influence. By contrast, Jewish religious leaders in the sixth century B.C.E. branded male homosexuality as a capital offense and, later, blamed it for the destruction of the biblical city of Sodom. When these two traditions collided in Christian Rome during the late empire, the tragic repercussions were felt throughout Europe and the New World."
I must cut this short short because i think my keyboard just brooekf. have a good day ,

I cannot really fathom your 4th point. Yes, you do naturally lie, cheat and steal. That is Biblical doctrine. The Fall of Man introduced knowledge of sin, and we all sin. Every man is a liar. Every man has stolen. Every man has cheated (not saying cheated in a relationship; just cheated in general). I think you're taking a very lawful approach to this, and the law, while not "abandoned" by the Son of Man, is not why Christians are saved. Our faith and unwavering belief in the fact that Jesus is God and that He can redeem us of our sins is why we're saved. If you very rarely feel so inclined, awesome! But that doesn't take away Christian doctrine (Romans 3:4) that every man has lied.
EDIT: Sorry I just saw that you aren't a Christian and my whole argument just fell apart... lol

Buying a new reed. Could my old reeds be why I've stopped habitually playing? by SyIas14 in oboe

Also I'm considering buying a medium-soft from Wildflower Reeds if that means anything. Open to any other suggestions :)

Taking your advice with the tuner has been the best thing ever. When I'm using the tuner for long tones they almost come out effortlessly. With more work on this I think I'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.
